In one of his YouTube videos, the second one where he's driving, he talks about steroids again and states that he doesn't like what they do to him, thus the reason he doesn't think he should take them. It seems clear to me he has a history of taking them then. And he uses different accents in his videos. In one he's trying to sound English or Australian and in another suddenly lapses into a southern accent. Interesting. MOO.

O M G!!! He's nuts!

I know very little about steroids, only that they can cause sudden rage. I've not heard of any connection to a "cannibalistic rage". MOO, he seemed odd and off in that video and there was an undercurrent of both cockiness and depression. It seems more likely he was getting messed up taking steroids and maybe did not take flakka. Can someone quit steroids or are they somewhat addictive?
"An undetermined percentage of steroid abusers may become addicted to the drugs, as evidenced by their continued abuse despite physical problems and negative effects on social relations."

Flakka Is Like Bath Salts, But Worse

On Monday night, police found 19-year-old Florida State University student Austin Harrouff trying to bite off part of the face of a man he'd allegedly just stabbed to death. It took four sheriff's deputies and a police dog to subdue the shirtless Harrouff, who'd also apparently stabbed the man's wife to death at their home in Jupiter, Florida.

There's no evidence that Harrouff
knew the victims and he had no criminal record. He's currently on a respirator in life-threatening condition.

While the Martin County Sheriff's office is still awaiting full toxicology results, they suspect that Harrouff overdosed on the drug flakka, because he exhibited some of the telltale signs, like abnormal strength, removal of clothing, and making animal sounds.

But what even is flakka? Basically it's like bath salts, but worse.

Flakka or "gravel" is the synthetic stimulant Alpha-PVP, a more potentform of the drug known as bath salts, and it is highly addictive. Its small clear or pink crystals can be snorted, smoked, injected, or eaten.

Flakka can cause a user's core body temperature to shoot up to 104 or 105 degrees and make them tear off their clothes while also providing an adrenaline boost that results in high pain tolerance and superhuman strength.

Does anyone think his use of different accents could be a precursor to schizophrenia? I have no clue, but it seems strange....
I don't think the accent stuff has anything to do with his state of mind or mental-emotional problems. I relate that to a teenager acting silly. Especially a boy. Maybe trying to get a certain girls attention?

Well, he allegedly killed two people and ate some of the victims face, so I think it's a good bet he got problems.

Thank You. I read both links you posted. Very helpful info! One of your links disappeared, but I thought it was worth noting. Anabolic steroids would be just as bad for young athletes as any street drugs and do long term psychological damage. Wow, I'm beginning to suspect this kid was on steroids and maybe didn't take flakka or bath salts.

Could anabolic steroids account for severely violent acts?

Yes. It's been implicated in a number of murders and can result in extreme
aberrations of behavior including the taking of one's life.

Another thing you have to be mindful of -- it may unmask an underlying
psychiatric disorder that has been basically kept in check until the individual is exposed to this category of drugs. And so what you may be seeing is unmasked psychiatric disorder.

Steroids, depending on the strength taken, and how many taken do definitely cause depression in some people. I have taken them three or four times since I got injured, and didn't have any problems until summer of 2015. Even tho it was the same dose for the same amount of days, I felt and looked really flushed for about three hours before it was time for the next dose. I decided that made me miserable enough I won't take them again. I have never heard that they could ve addictive, but it is not good to just stop taking them. After the large daily dose I was given for 10 days, then the dosage was decreased every other day until I was down to one tablet daily, then that was what is called the round of treatment was complete.

I haven't heard anything about them testing him for steroids. I think they should definitely add that test to his tox screening.

Anabolic steroids are different than the type usually given by a doctor. They are used 'more for animals. And a 200lb person doesn't need a large dose that night be given to a large cow! And all steroids have the potential of causing irreversible stomach damage and brittle bones.

You'd think nobody would ever consider taking the unpredictable flakka, but I'm starting to see the steroids as a real threat to young athletes. What this kid did should scare any adolescents from ever considering taking steroids IF it turns out he was taking anabolic steroids then I hope this sad story is shared to discourage any drugs that might lead to killing people and acting like a raving animal.

Research on steroid educational programs has shown that simply teaching students about steroids' adverse effects does not convince adolescents that they can be adversely affected. Nor does such instruction discourage young people from taking steroids in the future. Presenting both the risks and benefits of anabolic steroid use is more effective in convincing adolescents about steroids' negative effects, apparently because the students find a balanced approach more credible, according to the researchers.

The murder/suicide of the wrestler Chris Benoit was blamed on steroid use. The drug tox screen showed he had as much steroids in his system as a raging bull.

From what I've gathered anabolic steroids are usually injected. Everyday?
I haven't a clue where young people would purchase them? Online? Wouldn't a parent notice injections or run across needles?

As jjenny said, sure hope they do test for steroids in the tox screening.

 No wonder I have to remind myself these days not to feel too safe anyplace.
To think this lovely couple, well-loved by all their neighbors, were enjoying a pleasant time in their welcoming garage with the door open...and along comes this terrifying creature that is unstoppable. It's the stuff of nightmares.

:rose: RIP Michelle Mishcon and John Stevens III :rose:

“The suspect in this case apparently was abnormally strong. So getting that excited delirium type increased adrenaline strength,” Martin County Sheriff William Snyder said at a news conference Tuesday morning. “Somebody not feeling pain, not responding to a dog bite, repeated stuns from a taser, taking three to four deputies and officer dog to get him off. That’s somebody with a lot more strength than you would normally encounter.”

It could easily be related to a mental health issue. It is not uncommon for someone losing the thread of connection to real life to act out or slip into character. His behavior is highly erratic. I'll be interested to see if he's given a mental health evaluation and a proper diagnosis is ever revealed and what further drug testing shows. MOO.

Lots of additional details about Michelle and John at link. I hope things make sense when we get to "the other side".
If so, they're still together and having new adventures in a beautiful paradise now.

Shawnee man’s dad and stepmom killed in gruesome murder in south Florida

SHAWNEE, Kan. -- A shocking murder, hundreds of miles away hits too close to home for one metro man.

A married couple was in their garage on Monday when deputies say 19-year-old Austin Harrouff savagely attacked them.

59-year-old John Stevens III and his 53-year-old wife Michelle Mishcon were both stabbed to death.

So sad to read about this. Not only two family members are gone for what seems to be no reason at all, a new baby who wasn't ever introduced to grandparents I'm sure were looking forward to son's family visiting.

There are lots of sites to order medication from foreign countries on the internet. Anything from antibiotics to strong pain med. If the user was injecting in their hip, or upper leg, then it's doubtful anybody would see. If somebody is addicted, yes, everyday. Using for body building, before a lengthy workout.

P.S. Needle disposal could be fairly easy. An empty cereal box, or oatmeal box. I guess if it was necessary, the user could get pretty creative.
