Officer flagged down was A. Coan; officer who suggested they search landfill (as reported anyway) is Bruce Owens.

Landfill is Chesser Island Road Landfill in Folkston, GA. (from Rosemary Hill in FL)

My understanding was they were there searching as the trucks unloaded.

Doesn't LE usually say to look out for the same things just discussed in the news conference in any missing person's case where the perp hasn't been found yet? I think that's all pretty much a given - someone who changes their appearance, has defense wounds, stops driving a vehicle, calls in sick to work, etc. Right?

UNLESS he is acting like he is helping in the investigation so they can't think its him..
And also..maybe the perp wanted the body found

Maybe. But I can't imagine him wanting the body found. A cop would know that no matter how hard you try trace evidence is always left behind. Whoever dumped Somer in the garbage/landfill did not want her body found. JMO

I am sitting directly in front of 1080 home....view is down the street towards Grove Park Ave.....where she never made it to the crossing guard....

JUST WANTED TO SAY THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL THE GREAT PICS..really helps out! :)
Since your there, whats the community gossip on who they think did this? I'm sure people are talking

Great work Cam!!!! Do they have those large plastic garbage cans at homes that the truck picks up?

I was told by someone who asked a local relative that they are standard 30 or 40 pound trash cans and a human gets off the truck and throws trash in.

CORRECTION: It was standard 20- to 30-gallon trash cans with 40 pound limit.

I'd asked because Somer surpasses the weight limit (65 pounds) for those cans and thought a human who had experience lifting cans would know by "feel" that a trash can was over the limit.

ETA: The commercial pickup would have trucks like that ... IMO anyway.

IM AGGRAVATED KNOWING THAT THEY DIDN'T COME OUT AND CLEAR THE FAMILY OR S THAT WAS WAITING AT THEIR HOME...THEY ALL NEED TO TAKE A POLYGRAPH AND BE CLEARED! Wish everyone was like Mr. Klass in this respect!
Why hasn't D during a presser said I am willing to take a polygraph as soon as possible and be cleared to find the person responsible for doing this to my child.
I would also include that as a parent myself and if ANYONE hurt my child I would threaten them on tv, I would say you better wish I don't find out who you are or something like come to my face yourself if you can hurt my child you can face me and call him out to see if it will stir him up and get ballsy.

But they said that they were going to check on the front end of the garbage trucks to ensure it doesn't get to the landfill first...and they did this before the garbage was collected tuesday morning. So, she was already at the landfill tues morning before the garbage was collected in her neighborhood before it goes to rosemary hill and then to the georgia landfill. Right? They didn't get it in the front end because she was ALREADY at the landfill that is why no one found her in the neighborhood when searching for dumpsters and garbage, etc. Unless I'm missing something. It sure seems that the police mean that a vehicle was used to transport her body to the landfill directly.

This is my :twocents:worth.
In our area, you must prove that you have resident status to use any dump or landfill. You must show a water bill, or give your driver's license so that your residency can be checked.
It just seems to me that anyone personally used that landfill (whichever one) there would be a record that would have been checked and re-checked by now.

I would do the same. But I wonder if she has even thought about a polygraph. Now if the police asked and she said no, I would think that would be a big red flag.

I took that to mean that possibly the individual/indiviuals may be local to the area. Also, LE may have a vehicle that they are looking for. A knife may also be involved.

Hi Minnesota. I used to live there. Do you remember the case of Corinne Erstad? She kind of reminds me, looks like, Somer. This case outraged me. They never found her body. They had a lot of evidence on him but the suspected murderer was let go!!! Read at bottom of article, the evidence that was found in his possession. It will make you sick. Makes you wonder if this guy left and committed more crimes. Like John Walsh was saying, could be someone becoming active again.

Headline: Verdict comes in: Guevara not guilty

Publish Date: 04/06/1993

RM288PTRM265PTHastings, Minn. (AP) -- Robert Guevara walked out
of jail 15 minutes after he was found innocent on charges of
kidnapping, rape and murder in the disappearance of Corrine Erstad.

``Happy,'' was the only comment Guevara made as he was escorted to
the second floor of the Dakota County Courthouse, where he was
greeted with cheers from about 20 family members and friends.

Guevara, 25, hugged his attorney and his family sobbed in relief
after the verdict was read shortly after 9 p.m.

Guevara has maintained his innocence since he was arrested four days
after the 5-year-old girl disappeared from her Inver Grove Heights
home last summer. On Saturday, he held signs up to the window of his
jail cell proclaiming his innocence.

``It's been an uphill battle from day one,'' defense attorney Anthony
Torres said after the verdict. ``We not only had to fight the
prosecution, we had to fight the news media.''

The Dakota County jury deliberated for 52 hours over six days before
finding the Oakdale man innocent of all eight counts brought against
him.

The 25-day trial was only the second in Minnesota in which a murder
conviction had been sought without a body. Prosecutors relied on the
``genetic fingerprint'' of DNA, contending that circumstantial
evidence -- including stains of Guevara's semen intermingled with
Corrine's blood -- linked him to the crime.

Guevara was arrested on June 5 after authorities found Corrine's
watermelon-print sundress, stained with blood, in Guevara's rented
storage locker.

The defense called witnesses to indicate Guevara's storage locker and
trailer were not secure and suggested that the bloody evidence had
been planted there to frame him.

Thanks, I didn't think about that..well I've never used or been to a landfill myself
I just don't get it, I think that she was directly put at the landfill..so if not at the GA landfill then at the Rosemary Hill landfill and then transfered to the GA landfill?
We don't have a description of a vehicle? Anyone notice any strange vehicles around the school? Maybe the perp was stalking kids from the vehicle by the school? Does the perp not work because this happened early afternoon? Does Sean not work that he can stay at D's house to wait for the kids?

I don't live in the community, so not sure of any gossip going around....

That's horrible! How could they find him not guilty!????!!!

Before the crossing guard?
no, not before....but there is also a crossing guard at Debarry....there are a total of 3 between the school and Debarry....first one being at the school, next one at Grove Park that she never made it to, third one at Debarry

From what I understand, the trash trucks do the pick up at the homes, the drive to Rosemary Hill in Green Cove springs where those trucks are then loaded onto a larger truck for transport to Georgia....
