There is no reason not to believe the Sheriff talked to both Freed and DT.

I remember the article and the Sheriff said he asked Freed to help her. I went through some of the early articles on First Coast News on the case and they have the links to them but when you click the article is gone. I imagine it is one of those.

Hi Dr. Fessel - I went looking for the article last night. I found a short version of it quoted on 'Topix', and when I went looking for the entire article, gone it was. The quote I read said the Sheriff suggested to mom Diena the name of this attorney, she was the one who made contact. Guess it's all about semantics. Do any of us really think it matters one bit how mom Diena got the lawyers name? At first, he was described as an entertainment lawyer - I'm sure most of us are grateful he has donated his expertise.

Hey everybody

Been busy digging & reviewing >> I came across this video from while Somer was still missing and before her body was found:

UNCUT: Tueday Oct 20th 4pm Briefing with Clay County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Dan Mahla

Something sounds a lil' hinky - near the end - right at the 10:54 minute mark specifically there's one question from a reporter - it's hard to hear - you're going to have to turn up volume - the reporter is asking him:

"Sargent we noticed on miller street near the railroad tracks a were a number of blood hounds, and detectives, and officers and even a crime scene technician out with his camera ... have you taken pictures of physical evidence or found any physical evidence there?"

Seems he stumbles a lil' in answering with "we haven't had, we have not found any physical evidence that leads us to where she might be.

It makes me wonder what they found at miller & the tracks - if NOT physical evidence leading them to where Somer might be.....then what???!?!?

Was there something back near Miller & the tracks...or nothing?????

Just some food for thought...

Do you have the link by any chance
I will look into the FL laws on LE picking lawyers for people
Doesn't sound very legal ?

I know I have heard that he picked Freed for DT, but sometimes I have wondered if the Sheriff didn't tell her, "You need to get yourself a lawyer," and DT asked him if he knew of a good one and he recommended Freed. Don't know how this came about, just saying.

Have been posting at WS on Morgans site and figured I would stop in here. Do you mean about the article where DT says hes a godsend? I can find it.

I also have Freed talking to JVM..transcripts only...heres what he said

VELEZ-MITCHELL: There have been no arrests in this case but there is hope. Listen to what Thompson`s lawyer told CBS.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MICHAEL FREED, ATTORNEY FOR THOMPSON FAMILY: Based on the information they`ve provided that they have the person that did this under observation, maybe amongst other people. They are waiting for certain scientific evidence to come back.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

VELEZ-MITCHELL: That is fantastic news. Let`s hope it`s just a matter of time until justice is served in this case

I don't remember reading or hearing a quote directly from the sheriff, but I do remember a First Coast (I believe) video it would have been in around Oct. 19th when Freed first appeared. IIRC it was at Freed's house. Either DT or Freed said on camera near the very end about the sheriff's suggestion.

I think it is very possible it could have been a teen, someone that didn't stand out or blended in. Strangely, it appears the only ones we can rule out are RSO, that have their DNA on file.

Sigh, just checked...no news.

Some physical evidence that didn't lead them to where she was? A weapon perhaps?

Does Miller cross the tracks at some point? From the map it looks as though they're pretty much parallel.

At crossing of miller and gano from somers school, turn right, then left and follow miller back and it has dirt rds off of it that lead to tracks.

Gotcha--so this would be at the north end of Miller, behind Floyd Circle then. I was looking at the opposite end.

Wow! Just got to work and listened to the interview and heard the question about the Miller / RR tracks!!!

Great find Tarabull!!!!

My thought is if they had a crime scene tech there, there had to be something found by the dogs there. Going now to look at the map.

Looking at the map, the perp could have crossed thru the woods or the parking lots in between Miller and the RR Tracts right?

Very interesting.

Maybe dumped something off that had Somer's scent on it.

Just thinking of dumpsters that would be in an area like that.

Possible he/she dumped Somer's body in a dumpster then kept walking and got rid of something else he/she had that would have the scent.
Or maybe the dogs just picked the scent up and they we just out searching the area and didn't find anything.

I'm thinking the way the LE answered the reporters question, "we didn't find anything that would lead to finding where Somer is" (something like that)...anyway, the way he answered the question tells me they found something. Just nothing that said where they could find the body.

ETA: Nevermind I just realized that Miller goes North and South; so it could have been either way.

So, if you took a right on Gano then a left on Miller (the north section) that would be going in the oposite direction of the Gano house.

Very interesting.

So evidence was taken from the Gano house and the Park, Last known siteing of Somer was in front of Gano house (that we know of) and LE and crime scene tech was at the RR tracts in the other direction as well.

I guess it's possible crime was commited at Gano house, stuff dumped at park or killer washed up at park (if there were no utilities on at Gano House), perp walked East towards RR tracts, went down Miller and somehow left scent or more evidence at the RR tracts?

I realize I'm talking to myself, but thinking outloud....

At the very end of Miller, where it curves East towards RR Tracts...Look north...Is that some type of water treatment plant or something? Then across the tracts, looks like a few retention ponds or something...maybe perp thought that was a good place to dump evidence or maybe a murder weapon.

At the end of Miller before it curves East, there is a big building looks like a wharehouse with a bunch of junk around it. House across the street from the building looks very run down, then road curves to East. Very small unkept road.

ETA: There is an old tralier/mobile home behind wharehouse bldg.

OMG!!!

At the very back of the park.... there is a sidestreet...Mockingbird Lane that goes straight East to Miller by the wharehouse where Miller curves East to RR Tracts.

Possible that Crime commited at Gano house, perp walked across Gano to Park restroom, washed up...kept walking to the back of the park...took Mockingbird Lane East...Took Miller...crossed RR Tracts.

Good morning all... sorry you were talkin to yourself Kim... I do it alot.. LOL

Now your cookin with gas Kim... (thats what my gma used to say)

There are a lot of residential properties across the tracts from Miller.

Shaw Street being the Northern street of a Subdivisioin.

ETA: Or perp could have walked down the tracts north or south at that point. Could have went anywhere.
