Rod Buchanan -- the person who helped bring Harrell to the attention of authorities by turning over a computer containing pornographic images -- told Channel 4 he does not want to see Harrell placed on death row.
"Give him life without parole; put him in general population; let the guys in jail take care of him the way they do," Buchanan said. "He will no longer be the monster, he will actually be the victim, and I think that is a much better sentence for him."
Harrell also lived for a short time with his mother and stepfather in a home in Nassau County. When Harrell was arrested, FBI investigators and other detectives searched the home for evidence.
Harrell's family was not at the home to comment Friday, and they've posted No Trespassing signs. Neighbors said it appeared Harrell's mother might be moving.

It is good to see they have this monster complete with dna and his own statements

Poor poor little Somer and her family....

I agree with her poor Mom...at least Florida still has the death penalty and is not afraid to use it. In fact, I wish we could hurry it up when there is dna evidence.

I have searched high and low for that photo the Sheriff mentioned with the K9 @ the Gano house. I see lots of K9 photos but haven't come across the one showing that house.

Are you talking about the white dog that was Harrell's half-brother's FB profile pic?

Eliza, the sheriff said there was a picture of a search dog in Jerred's backyard on Gano when they were first searching. He said it was on the front page of the times union. Online it is known as Jacksonville.com. It must have only been in the paper and not on line.

It's been awhile, but I do think I remember here on WS someone took the photo from jacksonville.com and matched it up with the Harrell's brother's profile pic of a white shephard-looking dog. Let me see if I can find it.

Can anyone remind me of the name of the woman on WS who saw the visions of the puppy, etc? I'd like to re-read her posts but can't remember the name (apologies!).

I think you mean Infinity.

Why NOT talk about the evidence? They have had one massive document dump after another in the Casey Anthony case even before she was arrested for murder. Now that JH is charged with murder, does the Sunshine Laws not apply in his case? I thought when documents were filed through the clerk's office, they became public in Florida. Why are we not allowed to see the blacked out portion of the arrest report? Are we not going to see any documents (don't mean blacked out documents either) in this case until it goes to trial? If so, why not? We saw them in Casey Anthony's case. When do the document dumps start appearing in this case?

I think we start seeing the documents after discovery which his lawyer has to ask for. I think it is then released to the public.

Now that blacked out part might deal with the admission Jarred made. If so it might have to be treated different according to FL law. The sheriff alluded to something like that.

It might have to do with Jerred's timeline and admissions and they don't want to release that part of the investigation until the have to since there is someone in the wings waiting to give and alibi.

The fact they are not releasing the admissions makes me think he confessed to the whole thing and it would be so prejudicial to the selection of a jury the state might have problems in the appeal stage.

Keep posting Doc, you almost have me convinced too. lol
Every thing you have said makes sense to me.
That and CCSO including the words "admissions by the defendant" when giving a summary of what they have on him.

I have convinced myself he has confessed to the crimes.

I think you are right! If his plea was guilty, would the purpose of a jury trial be to hand down the degree of murder and sentencing?

My guess is if there was a plea it was to save himself from the death penalty. moo

LE has been so tight with everything in this case, I cannot see them releasing any evidence to the public until its absolutely necessary. I was not expecting a whole lot of info to be announced at the presser. I don't know about a full confession by JH, that would certainly be good in to have in a trial if so, I more see him admitting to seeing or talking to Somer, maybe admitting only enough to try to explain his DNA on her. Time to wait now for the trial and evidence releases to find that out! Waiting on that is better then waiting to find a child killer, at least he is locked up tight.

I can't say enough the impression this team of investagators has left on me, the look on their faces at the presser said it all, there was no smiles on their faces, they all looked dead serious about their job.

I am still shaking my head in amazement at the strength and resolve Diena showed as well. I think Somer is right there standing beside her mom, shining rays of courage on to her.
