I'm pretty tired of white western countries deciding that a leader somewhere needs to be removed and replaced by someone they can 'work with' I mean who in the effing heck do we think we are, and when has this ever worked? Looking back on communism it doesn't seem so bad now, but after WW2 we acted like it was our moral duty to eradicate it. We really need to just stop marching into countries thinking we can fix their problems when clearly we can't. We can't even fix our own problems.

Maybe if we hadn't been tinkering with the Middle East the way we have been things wouldn't be so bad now.

A female terrorist?!
Shocking!!

If I've learned anything from the tragic cases on here it's that both women and men can commit evil acts. These people are dead inside they have no empathy for anyone they just believe in their evil cause and will do anything for it.

I, absolutely, agree with you...GJR.
My comment was sarcastic. Lol.

Very poignant story it's great shame this is happening.

Thank you for all your updates and contributions it is much appreciated. I'm trying to avoid any articles or photos that show any victims deceased or injured as I think it is disrespectful and upsetting.

Agree, that is a sad story Greg.

The link to photos I posted just above on this page shows NO pixellated dead/injured as I agree it is terrible for their friends and families also.

The link has a photo of the imams and rabbi etc together - think that is a more positive, hopeful image - would like to see more of those kinds of responses in the UK - unity, when this sort of thing has happened here.

Indeed. Remember after 9/11, all the scares we had? (You are in the great country of Canada, I know, but ykwim...)

I do indeed. Thanks and I do luv your Country too. Travel much there and have many U.S. relatives. We have friends on Long Island and he was Port Authority when 9/11 went down. Due to all the tension right now I kinda wish folks would gather at their homes with Family and Friends. Yet I do understand sigh......

("Deadly Women" on ID! Bunch of psychos...)

"Kurdish forces have uncovered the bodies of elderly women in one of two mass graves outside Sinjar, a northern Iraqi town near the Syrian border that was ruled by ISIS for more than a year before the extremists were driven out last week.

The first grave - containing the bodies of 78 older women - was uncovered west of the town's centre near the technical institute, said Qasim Samir, Sinjar director of intelligence.

The second grave - containing about 60 bodies of men, women and children - was uncovered 15km west of Sinjar.

These monsters are just modern day Nazis it's hard to believe innocent people are yet again being rounded up and killed on mass in 2015. More needs to be done by every nation to obliterate them.

Effective sarcasm.
Especially considering that a woman was instrumental in the Charlie Hedbo massacre.
It would be foolish in the extreme to ignore the threat of female terrorists and female terrorist sympathizers.

O/T, but this reminds me of a book or movie...an FBI terrorist profiler who specializes in spotting suicide bombers...he is in a bus or a train scrutinizing the different passengers, a suicide bomber will have certain characteristics, extreme sweating and nervousness, bulky clothing iirc...ugh, I'm not doing justice with my description, nevermind...)

just now

An emergency doctor who treated the wounded in both January’s Charlie Hebdo attack and Friday night’s massacre in Paris has said France must stand strong and united and show a “Churchill spirit”.

Patrick Pelloux said he felt there was a clear terrorist strategy to target France and other countries. “It means that the reaction should be European. We musn’t be afraid, we must all stand together to find a Churchill spirit. We’re at the start of something. We mustn’t give in. They won’t win.”

Senior Iraqi intelligence officials warned coalition countries of imminent assaults by the Islamic State group just one day before last week's deadly attacks in Paris killed 129 people, The Associated Press has learned.

http://www.businessinsider.com/iraq...nent-assault-before-the-paris-attacks-2015-11

Iraqi intelligence sent a dispatch saying the group's leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, had ordered an attack on coalition countries fighting against them in Iraq and Syria, as well as on Iran and Russia, "through bombings or assassinations or hostage taking in the coming days."

However, six senior Iraqi officials corroborated the information in the dispatch, a copy of which was obtained by the AP, and four of these intelligence officials said they also warned France specifically of a potential attack. Two officials told the AP that France was warned beforehand of details that French authorities have yet to make public.

How I wish that were true, girl!
Terrorists have an incredible ability to blend with the masses.
From what I have read, they feel a sense of serenity prior to their act.

Sick. Evil.

Thank you to those who are posting photos of the victims. I am having issues saving pics on ipad for some reason today, and wanted to post each one I came across, but cannot. :(

Again, thanks for showing us their faces.

A lot of people have criticized immigrants from the Middle East for not assimilating to the culture of their new country. I agree that if you move somewhere you should expect to change culturally over time, however I just think it's important to say that this does take a long time. My family came from Lebanon to Australia in the 1880's, however the men still went back to Lebanon to choose a wife until my grandfathers generation, he broke the mould and married an Australian, also even my great grandparents never learned to speak English even though my great grandfather was born here. They were all successful merchants and owned property however, even though it look generations to assimilate.

We have to give people time, we can't expect migrants to adjust inside a generation or two, that won't happen. It doesn't mean they're not embracing their new country or committed.

The fact that terrorists came to Europe in the recent influx is not a surprise either, I think we all knew that would happen. I feel like we as the allies have made an absolute mess of the Middle East, whatever we were trying to achieve there has obviously failed. This whole situation is a travesty.

There can also be a fairly high price for assimilation: My Armenian family came to the US from Turkey. My great-aunt was thrown in an insane asylum in the 1930s. She was in an arranged marriage. Her husband was abusive. She was looking outside the community or even possibly outside her marriage (if you know what I mean) My dad said, "She had a nervous breakdown". That is all he ever said or knew about it. Her own father disowned her. My great aunt lived in that asylum the rest of her life.

On a happier note, my grandmother never assimilated. To do so would have meant giving up all of her friends and social support. The entire village from the old country moved to the same town in the US. So she kept all her friends and acquaintances from the old country. She lived a very happy life. She spoke some English. Became a US citizen. However, everything she did was within the context of her community.

My great-grandfather and grandfather never gave up on Armenia. They always wanted to go back, even though it was impossible. They quietly embraced Socialist politics which was a no-no in American culture, however by not doing so they would have turned their back on their homeland.

hey Friday Fan, when I was a teacher many years ago, i led a project where a couple of students had to research the history of the Armenian diaspora - they endured some horrific stuff there - and still are. Significant Armenian community and church where I am originally from in the UK.

General post:
Nice tribute to some of the dead - 2 Tunisian sisters and their friend a Congolese man called Ludo who died saving others.

No photos of dead etc here.
