Well, looked both of them up again, and Judge Ott's calendar says he won't have any "criminal" cases until 7/14.

Anyone find anything "new" - like maybe a date in August? Not getting any updated articles using google.

TIA!

Georgia parents smoked meth before allegedly killing newborn

Parents accused of murdering their two-week old baby smoked meth together the night before they reported her missing, prosecutors allege in legal papers filed this week.

Prosecutors have set a trial date of Aug. 13 and argue Bell and McNabb should be tried together.

McNabb and Bell will appear in court today for a hearing on the matter.

Accused killer parents to face trial together

COVINGTON, Ga. – The parents accused of murder in the October death of 15-day-old Caliyah C. McNabb will be tried together after Alcovy Judicial Circuit Chief Judge John M. Ott approved the motion to join the trials filed by the state in court Thursday.
[.....]
Ott granted the state's motion and said he believed the information from McNabb's case would come up during Bell's trial whether they were separated or not.

And I have the trial starting on 8/13 for McNabb's court records.

McNabb, Bell trial to be continued

August 1, 2018
COVINGTON, Ga. - The parents accused of murder in the October 2017 death of 15-day-old Caliyah C. McNabb will spend more time in the Newton County Jail after a motion to continue the trial was filed by Alcovy Judicial Circuit District Attorney Layla Zon this week.
[.....]
The joint trial was set to start Aug. 13, but an unexpected medical issue and new evidence have pushed the date.
[.....]
According to the motion, “the state’s prosecutor on the indictment and lead
investigator from the sheriff’s office has notified the district attorney of a serious and complicated medical procedure that will be performed upon his spouse in
approximately two weeks.”
[.....]
“The information provided led to an investigative act of potential evidence being
collected on Tuesday of this week,” according to the motion. “That evidence is being sent to the crime lab for testing. Even with a request to expedite the testing of this evidence, it is highly unlikely that the results will be available before the scheduled week of trial.

more in article.

Looks like you will have to change your calendar @blueboy

Why did DA delay trial of parents charged in newborn’s murder?

Two inmates in a neighboring county have provided Newton County investigators with possible new evidence in the death of a 14-day-old baby, according to the district attorney.
[.....]
“The source of this information is from two jailed inmates in Jasper County,” Zon wrote in a motion filed this week. “The information provided led to an investigative act of potential evidence being collected…That evidence is being sent to the crime lab for testing.”
No details about the potential evidence was released,,,,,,
[.....]
While in custody, McNabb was indicted on an additional charges for allegedly throwing a jail television to the floor and threatening to hit another man, court records showed.

Earlier this month, Zon requested that McNabb and Bell stand trial together and Judge John Ott agreed. A new trial date has not yet been set.

OO Oh!!

I'm getting a 404 error message on Judge Ott's calendar today. Anyone - can you look to see if there is a hearing yet?

http://www.alcovycircuit.com/calendars/calendar_judge_jott.html

It's for Newton Criminal dates - 10/15 had 2 different pdf to open.

TIA! :)

Hmmm, same -- a 404. Would it be down for updating or does it no longer exist? Maybe there's a new & improved version out there somewhere... We need to look for another source, of course --- hmmmm.

Oh - I hope it's just down for maintenance - let me try again....
I went to the Home page, but if I click on the "Calendar" it still gives me a 404 message. Must be down.... hopefully, they don't have a hearing today.
I hate those that you have to look up every.single.day.... o_O

And nothing through 12/15. They have no more calendars for the year.

Guess we wait until next year....

JUSTICE for Caliyah!!
