Channel 2: Per Sills he has a person of interest. Not elevated to suspect. Hopefully this video will be online soon. I think he meant person of interest in mind. Not clear yet.

Edited to add link:

From my memory of the news piece so I hope I have this correct:

Link is updated now so my notes removed and not needed...

A sickle is sharp! A hammer can be used as a deadly weapon, as well.

One of the article said something like 'one clean cut, possibly a second for the spine".

Makes me wonder does that mean a clean cut as in one wallop via a machete/sword? But then a second swing for the spine? If the head was taken to hide evidence then did they bring a sword/machete with them? If so then they would expect to have to hide the evidence which seems odd.

Or does it mean one cut clear around using a knife without any hesitation cuts or stops/starts?

A hammer could have easily be used to pop the spine once it was exposed.

Am I the only one that is left even more confused after watching the WSB TV2 Mark Winnie interview of Sheriff Sills?

I think he is sending a message to the POI, not really a message to the public.

EATONTON, GA-- Investigators in the year-old murder of an elderly Putnam County couple would like to learn more about a man spotted on the lawn of the murder victims, Sheriff Howard Sills told 11Alive News Tuesday.

"I consider (him) a suspect myself. But that's all I'll say about it. We had a witness that saw him out there," Sills said. Sills would not elaborate, nor would he issue a description of the man.

I think any time a person is interviewed, then later to be found out that they weren't completely truthful, that's a red flag.
Maybe that person was trying to protect someone.
Maybe that person is afraid of retaliation.
Maybe that's why Sheriff Sills says that they are still out there and capable of anything.
Thing is, I thought this was "personal",(the murders of the Dermonds.)
If the killer(s) are capable of anything, then it sounds like perhaps they might not be done yet.
That it goes Beyond Mr. and Mrs. Dermond, that it might not stop there...
Well, what could be more personal? The people closest to Mr. and Mrs. Dermond?
Could there be a future retaliation against family members?
IMOO.

" He told Winne the person of interest is someone they’ve interviewed before.
“Statements made to us, we later determined, were not completely truthful,” Sills said. "

ETA:
I do want to add that in the video around the 42 second to 47 second mark, Mark Winne mentions that within the last week or so the Dermonds house on Lake Oconee sold.

I'm not sure I would want to live in that house till the perp is arrested.

Could the person of interest also be the person that was interviewed and wasn't completely truthful?
Could that be the same man that was on the Dermond property?
IMOO.

Not only that, but as beautiful as that house is, it would creep me out to even live there even after an arrest.
That's a lot of negative energy, and horrific crimes, with Mr. D found decapitated in the garage, and the Mrs. in Lake Oconee.
RIP Russell and Shirley...
IMOO.

No idea why.. If we knew why, we would probably know who. At this point, all ideas are on the table. It could be anybody.

Like I said, i wasnt' being coy, just posing a serious obvious quesiton and of course you don't know or it would be solved haha but apparently SILLS has a person of interest, an ex employee

so if he/she becomes a suspect, my theroey is out the window

don't know whqt prompted this update one day later, maybe to clarify yesterdays article IDK

They had 2 cars, I would assume so, he was at publix, they went to church regularly

Yes, I pretty much thought Russell still drove, it was more Shirley I was wondering about. She'd had knee replacement surgery, hadn't she ...not sure how recent it had been, though ...and we read how she was no longer driving to the bridge games. So I was wondering if she was still driving at all or maybe had given it up entirely recently.

I can't remember a missing or murdered person investigation that generated as much ms media coverage for the one year anniversary, as there has been in the Dermond abduction/decapitation/murders.. Ironically the Eatonton community's primary news source; 'The Eatonton Messenger' has coverage, but requires a subscription to view....

One year later: Murder at Great Waters

How many persons of interest are there? One or two?

In this article it is mentioned about a blue collar worker being a person of interest.

Then there's the man seen on the Dermond's lawn by an eye witness.

I pray Sills finds the break he needs to solve this case.

I always felt the Dermonds were fine upstanding citizens including their children.

Its nice to know nothing at all was untoward in their finances

"Their finances and expenditures are remarkably routine," Sills said, after poring over eight years worth of the Dermonds' financial records.

I believe why they don't want the description known of the man seen at the Dermonds is whoever witnessed the man can ID him in a photo line up should Sills find out who he is.

Several wealthy people have been murdered by past disgruntled employees.

His anger may have manifested over time. Some people seethe inside and want revenge and may take time to plot the murders out.

No idea why.. If we knew why, we would probably know who. At this point, all ideas are on the table. It could be anybody.

Okay, just some "out there" thoughts about who, though I haven't read every thread, and these ideas may have already been discussed and dismissed.

Someone from when Mark Dermond was killed? A person part of the drug world, though that doesn't seem very likely. Someone (a relative?) upset with the Dermond parents for not attending the trial after the murder? Someone (a relative?) who felt excluded by the Dermonds? Was a perp harming the Dermonds at the request of someone else? Really out there---was there a child given up for adoption early on, and then not accepted back into the family? Out of control resentment and anger at the elder Dermonds seems to have driven the crime, which feels like a personal vendetta of some kind.

Follow the money or follow the heart---unless this is totally a random crime, I think someone in the family may hold a clue he/she may not even realize is a clue. (If that makes any sense . . .)
