I think that the investigators need every bit of information on whether there were any physical issues that might have made Cooper more vulnerable to the effects of the hot car, if he had behavior/physical challenges that the bio parents were not truthful about, did they even bring their child in for well/sick visits and vaccinations....etc.

If he was packed into a car seat that was too small for him, wouldn't it have made him more visible, not less?

I've wondered about this, also. I thought the car-seat was appropriate for his age, but that he was strapped in with the lowest level straps. IMO, this would make him more smushed down towards the bottom of the seat, not the top. We need a car seat thread :) IMO and MOO.

CH would have had to be up to date on his vaccinations. Doesn't the Health Department check day care records to make sure that the children are up to date on their vaccinations?

I wish LE could/would release some things. I'd like to see the video where she says to him "did you say too much?", and the video of him going out to his car for example.

I'd like to see those things too, but I suppose it serves no public purpose and could taint the jury pool.

I can't imagine an innocent explanation for the "did you say too much" question. I'm really curious to hear that exchange...was that the very first thing LH said? what was RH's reply?

Stoddard said Cooper exceeded the limits by "several" inches. I assume he meant height. Very hinky for them to still be using the infant size seat when just weeks prior they had purchased a new one.

I

If you buy the policy before the illness is discovered, but once you know about the illness, its up to the insurance company. This happened with one of my nephews, who was born with a terminal illness, but wasn't diagnosed until months later. The parents were even told by the company, 'you better never let it lapse, there won't be any more.' But now under new Obamacare rules, I dont' know if that would effect life insurance or notl

Our children both have "child riders" on my and my husband's life insurance policies. IIRC they have $25K each. There were no questions asked other than basic information. I think it was $35/year per kid so it made sense for us to do it.

we were not told his answer at the hearing -- guess they are saving that gem for the trial

The car seat thing bothers me so much. I can't decide if I think that they had no intentions of keeping Cooper around long enough to buy a convertible. That makes me wonder if they had tried to harm him before. Then I think about how he "seemed" to be a happy child which makes me think there was no type of abuse or meanness to him prior. I just don't get it. That baby would have been so uncomfortable in that seat, especially with it being at the tightest setting. I just keep thinking he had to be crying for his daddy. breaks my heart every time i think about it.

Well the harness should be good and snug. When rearfacing the harness should be under the childs shoulders. I have seen many people never move it up because under is under.. But I also remember them saying there was another car seat in the other car? And that it had been switched out? I am not sure. I know these days, Most people have car seats for each car.

I don't think he was uncomfortable as a rule. but I think the moment he realized he was left all alone was terrifying for him. And for that the dad should be punished severely. This was cruel and inhumane.

BBM. I agree, I have been praying that from the beginning. I am fearful of even reading the toxicology when it comes out. I want to just believe he didn't suffer. The testimony about his face and head almost makes me think he did, but I still keep hoping...

:(

He scratched at his own face and banged his head on the back of the too-low car seat... that baby suffered. :(

I think that's why LE is looking for photos and evidence of Cooper's development. Having him in a baby seat makes me think he was thought of as a "baby" instead of a toddler. Was he speaking yet? Are there any videos of Cooper anywhere? Most crimes cases involving children have parents who have videos of their kid available somewhere dancing, singing, playing, etc. e.g. Ayla Reynolds, etc. I find this strange IMO. Maybe there was something the parents felt was 'wrong' with Cooper. JMO

Yes he was speaking. According to his family, he loved red motor vehicles and said "Bye, red truck! Bye, red car!" When there were driving through parking lots, which, btw, also means his car seat set up high enough for him to see out. If he could see out that well, it seems like he'd have been pretty visible from the outside too!

If Leanna was in on this (and I'm not convinced yet), then maybe her recent visit to her Mom's in Alabama was to allow Grandma one last visit. Hoping Leanna's grieving mother will convince her to testify against Ross...

Yes ..:( They said in court Cooper had scratch marks on his face and abrasions on the back of his head probably from banging it against the too small seat that he could not get out of... so i do not think he was sedated

His head was two to three inches above the top of his car seat. A child's head should be at least one inch below the top of his car seat. Saying the car seat was too small it's an understatement! He probably out grew it when he was 18 months old, if not earlier. He would have been squished in it making it more noticeable a child was in the seat. However, the rearfacing infant car seats are much lower profile than the MUCH larger convertible car seats that can forward face. It would have made Cooper harder to see outside of the car. Also, if RH backed into the parking space, a passer by would see the back of a car seat that was not clearly visible. Had Cooper been in a large forward facing car seat he would have been sitting up higher and clearly visible through the front windshield.

Camdenres, your link doesn't work because you have the "......Honestly!" in there with the link. :)

Im sorry do you have a link for this? Because I don't believe that to be true. He was not that big of a child. Just because he was taller than the seat allowed did not mean his head was above the shell, It most likely means his legs were longer. Torso height is what matters.

There are some hurdles that Harris and his defense team are going to have to explain that, IMO, are unexplainable.

1. Any time during the drive to work from CFA that Harris had to look into the right side mirror to change lanes or whatever, the car seat would be visible to him along with the top of Cooper's head.

2. Even if Harris did not use his rear view mirror in order to back up to park at work, he would have to use his right side mirror which then reverts to number 1.

3. When Harris left work he had to make a left hand turn, this means that he had to look to his right to see any oncoming traffic. Once again, looking to his right the car seat and the top of Cooper's head would be visible.

Now I know that it has been said that Harris does not have (or has limited) hearing in his right ear. It has also been claimed (rumor) that he has little to no sense of smell. However, neither of those affect his eyesight nor explain why he did not see either the car seat or the top of Cooper's head numerous times before and after work.
