In the Walker County Messenger this week there was a mysterious "wildfire" in Ringold, which is very close to Lafayette, that shut down highways and burned down acres and they don't know what started it. Makes me wonder if it has something to do with this. It could have very easily been set to destroy a body and other evidence.........Nobody would ever think to look through the ashes for a body and if you did you would just find bones so the evidence would be destroyed. I was already thinking this but now knowing that he likes explosives really makes me wonder........Thoughts and prayers are with her family and I just hope that they bring her home soon.

That is really interesting. When did this fire start? Wasn't SP burning stuff the night Theresa disappeared?

It sounds impossible, like people would know, but that's what Butch Hinton still says he did with Shannon Melendi's body. They have never found evidence to prove or disprove that part of his confession.

gagal, thanks for the updates. News of Theresa is hard to come by.

on the 11 o'clock news they just had breaking news that LE have Cordell Rd blocked off as SP is threatening harm to himself. There is also an ambulance close by from Hutcheson Hospital on standby.that is all they know so far.

Oh my! Keep us posted if you can!!

Gheezeeeeee I hope he tells someone where Theresa is:truce: before he kills himself.

Welcome gagal! Yeah, the fires caught my eye too. Hubby mentioned that the explosives and a cave would be a good idea for hiding a body :( He didn't sound so stable before this new info about the explosives so it shouldn't be a surprise its come to this standoff or whatever to call it but yet it is.

I wonder how LE found out that he was threatening to kill himself? Did he call someone or did someone go to his house to see him and discover this? If he called someone then he isn't serious. If you really plan to kill yourself you don't tell a soul....you just do it. Maybe he is cracking up and will tell what he did with Theresa.

About those fires. I hope they can figure out if the fires were set and what was used. They are usually pretty good at figuring it all out. If the fires were set I sure hope they get search parties together after the danger is over and search that area real good for bones. I don't know if anything would be left in that kind of heat but it is worth a try. That might have been what he was talking about by being able to kill someone and they would never be found.

Okay, I can't find an actual news link (that would be too much to ask!) but from some of the blog posts and such it seems that SP made some suicidal statements and was put back in the psych facility.

Of course, not one word on the Atlanta 11:00 news last night. It was way too important talking about Imus and the weather once the top stories were over.

Even the local newspaper websites don't have anything updated, so you have to depend on the bloggers, some of whom are literally looking out their windows. Crazy!!!

Thanks so much to anyone local who has given us fast facts. I feel like the search for Theresa is going in slow motion sometimes.

I see where in your link from the Chattanoogan Chico it says the explosives were found in his office. I bet that is wrong, don't you think since they made that search of all the lockers? Scandi

I think its an error too. All the other reports state that the explosives were found in his locker and that it would be enough to do damage to the locker room.

Glad we got that corrected. I could see this going to trial and posters going crazy to remember where the plastic explosives were found, that is if they end up being a part of the case. Never know, as if he used that in some way in disposing of her body, I don't even know if tiny pieces of bones would be left. It's not quite like the effect of a wood chipper! LOL

More about C4 explosives:

Picture here /w article that says:
"It's not an explosive that is available on the market except for highly sophisticated, organized groups capable of getting it from certain governments or states," said Yemeni Prime Minister Dr. Abdul Karim al-Iryani.

If he did get it 10 yrs ago, maybe the laws weren't that tough back then?

I hope they find her soon.

Former LaFayette police Sgt. Sam Parker was escorted by his personal physician from his home on Cordell Avenue late Friday night after a call to 911 indicated trouble at the home.

Reports from neighbors who declined to be indentified indicated that Parker “was threatening to hurt himself.”

Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson spoke with Parker. “He is receiving medical attention, and is under the care of his physician.” Wilson said at the scene after Parker left.

Tense moments send emergency responders to the home of missing 911 dispatcher Theresa Parker. A concerned person called 911 last night and said Sam Parker, Theresa's husband, might hurt himself. Investigators say there wasn't a stand off Friday night but they also say it was a serious situation. Parker was in his home with two guns for three hours and his neighbor thought the worst had happened.

"I thought he killed himself," Carl Cordell says.

Cordell knew things were bad when police had blocked off his road last night.
"I felt like last night we were able to save Sam Parker's life," Sheriff Steve Wilson says.

The neighbor had much more to say at the link.

~snip~

Police say that last night they heard that Sam Parker was threatening to hurt himself. Neighbors say he was standing just behind me on his front porch with a gun. Sheriff Steve Wilson says Parker was actually holding two guns, a rifle and a pistol.

Wilson went on to say that Parker never threatened anyone except himself, saying he was "very dispondent".

Thanks for the links Chico,

Boy, that Attny Gen. must be a tightwad. Aren't you glad you aren't married to him? LOLOLOLOL $1000 is nothing as rewards go, in fact don't think I've ever heard of one so low. Maybe he was hoping it could be like starter money for private citizens to add to.

I think of all the movies I've seen set in that part of the South and going up through Tenn and WV, and realize they have probably painted a stereotype picture of the people who live out in the country. Mostly scary movies actually where the locals they turn out to be canibals and prey on wayfaring college students. So I need to aquaint myself again with the Southern culture and how they do things. Maybe they haven't had luck offering rewards. I don't know!

That is one negative for being raised in the Pacific Northwest. I went thru grade school in the 50's and we were never taught much about the SE area of the US, except for Rosa and her standing up for the right to sit at the front of the bus like she believed she should be able to do. Maybe the civil rights and KKK problems clouded the issue of really learning what the South was all about. And then I have never had the fortune to go there.

I don't think the reward amount has anything to do with it being the south. lol I think its a good start and hopefully as you mention others will add to it. I think leads are winding down but this might be an incentive to someone who may know something that hasn't come forward.
