I certainly don't feel hate toward fellow web sleuthers for an opposing opinion. Until the trial started, I didn't know. I felt everything would surely come to light. Then I thought maybe it would be manslaughter by some mistaken identity or whatever, with probation. Then the prosecution rested. The only evidence I have seen supports self defense.

I was really angry after the Anthony trial. But I would never hurt her. I would stay far away from her, knowing her day will come. In this trial, I am at the opposite end. I think he was defending himself and never wanted to hurt anyone.

I think the final issue for me was "intent", I think Zimmerman did follow Trayvon, but not to get in physical fight with him, but to let the police know the direction he took. Poor judgement yes, but the profile I see is of a do-gooder, not want-to-be murderer.

On Trayvon's side, I think he just thought it was another street fight, never thinking the man could have a gun. Poor judgement and immaturity. AND no supervision after heading in the wrong direction, i.e. school, fighting.

And I think Mr. Zimmerman's life has been destroyed, and his family intimidated. Enough is enough for me!

IMO.

Can you remind me (us) how long it was between when GZ hung up from NEN and when the neighbors called into 911 reporting an altercation?

IIRC I think it was a little over 2 minutes, closer to 3, hope this helps :)

Going back to the red-headed young mother that was on earlier....

If the women on the Jury are mostly 40-60 years of age I wonder how many have daughters about that age? Or even daughters with small children?

I think she was definitely one of the most persuasive witnesses so far. IMO.

With all due respect, GZ was taking MMA training classes. That is fighting. Just because his trainer says he wasn't a master at it, doesn't mean it wasn't a fighting class.

In their website they say it is also FITNESS TRAINING:

...as well as those just looking for self defense and/or functional fitness training. We offer bio-mechanically correct training that has been scientifically tested and competition proven. We take pride in ensuring that ALL of our students develop solid fundamentals in the discipline(s) of their choice. Refreshingly, for those just wanting to get in shape, competing is NOT a requirement

That's not really quite fair to say, IMO. I (no one) should not feel ashamed for anything that I (they) PERSONALLY had no part in and I, IN NO WAY, had any part in this judge's demeanor.

if you think the judges demeanor is acceptable, then we just disagree.

but i've never seen anything like it.

btw, ashamed of them, not yourself.

Which proves that GZ did not go looking for TM and that TM surprised him.

He was already there. He was waiting looking for the police.

If the first calls are 2-3 mins from NEN, That leaves no time for him to go looking for TM but that TM was out looking for him and confronted him there at that T and there abouts..

Nelson: State trying "to impeach your own witness... I don't think that that's allowed." Defense objection sustained.

Andrew Branca, LOSD @LawSelfDefense
#zimmermantrial Hahahaha, State went so far even Nelson choked on it. Impeach their own witness. http://www.lawofselfdefense.com

Looks like the states rebuttal just fell apart.

I find this so ironic, since if the shoe had been on the other foot, Trayvon would almost certainly have been tried as an adult ala 12 year old Cristian Fernandez, by this very same special prosecutor.

The pundits probably also have never seen this weak a prosecution before, so maybe what they're saying is true.

Hey Karmady! :seeya: I know you know a lot about courts. Have you ever seen a judge ask a defendant if they were going to testify before the defense had finished putting on their case? TIA

I HAVE checked it out. Those words are from their website you just linked.

That gym is also for fitness training and weight loss. It says so right on their homepage:

"...as well as those just looking for self defense and/or functional fitness training. We offer bio-mechanically correct training that has been scientifically tested and competition proven. We take pride in ensuring that ALL of our students develop solid fundamentals in the discipline(s) of their choice. Refreshingly, for those just wanting to get in shape, competing is NOT a requirement."

Mantei: State also not calling its second rebuttal witness, David Lee.

Actually, many of us are asking, did he really *need* a gun after less than 2 minutes upon his encounter with TM? That is the crux of the matter. IMO

If it is true, that during the scuffle TM realized GZ had a weapon and TM went for it - then yes GZ did need his gun. The intent would be rather clear after being punched in the face and having one's head smacked on concrete a time or two. Unfortunately not one of us will ever be 100% sure of the truth of this matter so the answer to the question is, it depends upon one's belief or disbelief of the evidence presented.
