So, to start the article, we have the leader of the far-right party in Lippe, singing Haase's praises;

"He was the best comrade I ever had, and was busy with the Party for years, but suddenly switched."
He goes on to say how the death of a child in the extended family, made Haase very sad and seemed to cause "the switch".
"He couldn't find a way to get over it", the leader adds, and goes on to say "I'm speechless. They were a picturebook family! He was such an example of a perfect husband and family man, that I twice asked police if it was a mistake, and Haase had simply gone on holiday with his daughter?"

(Here's some info about the party, if anyone is interested in articles about neo-nazis.)
http://translate.google.co.uk/trans...ikaner+partei+lippe+nazis&client=safari&hl=en)

Anyway, getting off that nasty subject, the article then goes on to detail how Hasse posed as a 14 year old boy in an internet chatroom, and the 'idyllic' family picture presented by the neo-nazi friend of Haase's is questionable. A year BEFORE he abducted Maria, Haase's stepaughter logged into the chatroom under a false name, and warned Maria that she had 'no idea about what the family had already suffered' because of Haase. His stepdaughter was well aware it was Haase posing as the young teenage boy talking to Maria.

Maria put her on ignore.

It wasn't only the stepdaughter who knew Haase was a pedophile. So did his wife. The year BEFORE stepdaughter's warning, his wife found the chats on his computer and reported him to the police and a magistrate. Haase was investigated on suspicion of sexual offences, but it 'Ran into sand'.

"It seemed the young girl was in love with the man and it was just a crush," said Christopher Imig, spokesperson for the magistrate.

An unnamed police employee who was aware of the case said there seemed to be a sexual background and the two spoke often about what they would do. But there was 'no sign' that 'something' had already happened.

Imig explains that a communication between a kid and a grown-up is not a 'punishable offence' and that the girl herself did not incriminate Haase.

On Haase's computer, police did find a picture of a "very young", topless girl. This was not Maria and was "not relevant to the enquiry....Because it was "clear the girl was over 14". (my note: I would like to know how. Did she have her date of birth stamped on her forehead in the child *advertiser censored* pic?)

Prepare yourself, US and OZ and English Folks....

"It is only child *advertiser censored* when there is visible sexual activity," says Imig. "A single image of a half-naked girl means nothing, it just could be the sign there could be more but there wasn't anything".

The magistrate "had" to put the investigation on hold, and "All we could do was warn Mom that something could happen".

(my note) !!!!!!!!! So it did guys, now what are you gonna do? You, who are professionals, unlike poor Mom.

I will post the rest in another post. I am getting a little het up, typing it out.

Zwiebel, thanks for taking the time to translate the article!
I just would like to say that enkelkind means grandchild. His grandchild died( if I understand correctly in sudden infant death) and that seamed to be the reason he has changed. (Not like that in any way makes it less bad what he is doing to/with Maria)
Thanks again for the article and the translation.

Not finished yet! Just taking a break to grind my teeth. Thanks for the grandchild translation - I couldn't work it out.

Part two

So, the warning 'came too late' (not that Maria's Mom could have gotten any help, anyway). 'Something' had already started. Haase had visited Maria at her home in Freiburg. As the 'relationship' took off it seemed the only time Maria broke off contact was when Haase turned up; a gray-haired, middle aged man with a pot belly and glasses. Since then though, Freiburg police have discovered the relationship in fact continued, and both went abroad to Eastern Europe.

(my note: Does that mean that up until those reports from Poland, Freiburg police did NOT know Maria had been abducted by Haase?)

"Theoretically, they could be in any country" spokesperson Laura Riske of Freiburg police said.

Until May 2013, Haase was still in Freiburg. Some of Maria's friends knew of the relationship but kept it secret ( my note: these minors are not to blame. Police knew too). On May 4, Maria told her Mom she was going to spend the night at a girlfriend's home. When Mom tried to call between 9 and 10pm as scheduled, on Maria's cell, Maria 'wasn't there'. When Maria finally rang back, she made an excuse as to why she wasn't at the friend's house.

She explained she had wanted to surprise a friend and got lost, and then said she wanted a taxi. Mom waited on the doorstep for 45 minutes, but when the taxi failed to arrive, phoned Maria again and told her, "There's somethng wrong, I'm going to hang up and call the police."

That was the last time Mom spoke to Maria. When LE checked the cell pings, they found they had come from a hotel room less than a mile away.

Mom suspects Maria has a conflict of loyalty; that she's homesick but also trying to protect the man she loves. In the current issue of Stern magazine, Maria's Mom appeals to Haase to ring Maria home.

"This is the dilemma" says Mom. The article goes on to say that on the one hand Haase should be arrested, but on the other pressure should not be allowed to rise to immeasurable levels. It then suggests his means of 'get out' could mean danger for Maria :(

Mom also wants any pressure lifted from Maria, and goes on to say how 'a disease' has been suggested, but she won't play along with that, as that would 'tear me apart from my child'. (my note: I think we saw the beginnings of this in all the stories about Maria's Mom being seriously ill, earlier).

When a person in the NRW(Nordrhein Westphalia) village of Kalldorf asks around about Haase, who lived there for a year with his wife and kids, a person hears he was an inconspicuous, retiring man. One neighbour says he was always quite grim, and the chair of the local parish council says he was noticeable only for his two big white dogs. One of which he took with him but abandoned in Poland.

Maria took nothing with her. Her Mom is waiting in the family apatrment until Maria comes home. She doesn't really go out much and doesn't go into Maria's room. Everything is there waiting for her, just as it was.

"It would lift unbelievable pressure from the family if at least there was a sign of life," Maria's Mom says.

This poor, poor lady. This case makes me sick, it really does. Alles ist nicht in Ordnung hier! The only person to emerge with any credit here is Maria's Mom, in my opinion.

I am so, so worried about this little girl now. Some horrible red flags and past cases are out for me. I wish everyone would tell her to run, as fast as she can, anywhere she can.

I hope LE have explained gently to Maria's friends, how important it is that if she contacts them, they inform police immediately.

Zweib - you're awesome! Thanks for that long translation!

This is a predicament that could have been averted, and because the Police didn't act (or couldn't act?) earlier, Haase has been able to drag Maria across the Continent, on his terms.
And he continues to do so because after this amount of time he has not been caught, he uses Maria as a pawn to keep himself safe, and yes, she is now at risk more so than before.
If this story had surfaced early in the investigation, it would have helped, (not hindered), understand what kind of influence Maria is under - a very manipulative man who knew the Police were not going to act on anything he did - because they had not acted before.
The silence has allowed Haase to virtually be just a picture on a poster with no background and no story.

Why would have Maria thought any different about him throughout this ordeal - he was kept in a bubble - the whole story of exactly who he is and what he is in reality was kept in a bubble. I now have a heightened sense of whats happened here - and Maria has been groomed by someone who knew they would have that cloak of silence around them, who should of at the very least had a warning given to him by authorities to let him know he was on their radar.

What example does it give to other pedophiles - that they will not be caught - or their past will not be put on public display??!!
.. and I'm sure there are many girls out there like Maria who are trusting and compassionate who are in, or about to be in the same situation. Save them!

Monika Beisler, you are a rock of strength. All credit to you.

Badische Zeitung. Read more...FREIBURG. The last time Monika Beisler phone call with her daughter Maria Henselmann on May 4. That night, the 13 Freiburger student disappears with the 53 year old electrician Bernhard Haase. The police are looking for him with an international arrest warrant for child abduction and sexual abuse. Maria is probably voluntarily followed the older man, whom she had met in an Internet chat as "Charlie".

Monika Beisler speaks quietly and controlled. The books on the shelf behind her are sorted by colors. Books about the Rolling Stones alternate with fantasy novels. It smells like stale smoke. On the back of the sofa behind Beisler lie two of her three cats. "One for all of us", she says. One for you, one for their son, Daniel (14) and one for Maria. Their youngest. "We live here yes three," says Monika Beisler. Even if she and her son are for four months for two. Because Maria is missing.

Thank heavens Monika did get on the internet and stay there. If it wasn't for her, I don't think news would ever have got out about Maria.

I am still favoring the Czech Republic as his next chosen destination after Gorlice (Gorlitz) in Poland. If you look at the confirmed sightings so far, Haase hasn't been that adventurous. He has stuck to places where German is spoken and understood by lots of people, and the way of life is not too different.

For reasons that I don't really want to go into here, I think there may be a good possibility Haase received help in Saxony, and may be able to call on it again. I hope I am wrong though.

For you zwieb...

Radio Prague - translated by Google... After suspected kidnappers from Germany the researchers are also in the Czech Republic
In the Czech Republic may hold a 53-year-old alleged hijackers from Germany on a 13-year-old girl. Bernhard Haase searched the kidnapping and sexual abuse of the child is suspected. With him on the way the 13-year-old Maria Brigitte Henselmann should be, which is missing since May. After the man is wanted by an international arrest warrant. The Czech police had been involved in the investigation, told a spokeswoman for the Czech Police Presidium. The Polish police have found safe in July Haase of the car near the Czech border. The Czech investigators called on the public to share any information about this man and the missing girl to the police immediately.

There's another article here about the Czech sightings.

He is running out of options now. Where next? Austria is expensive and people will recognise them. It's also cold. Maybe Haase will head south to Bavaria, and from there cross into the top of Italy, where the weather is warmer and the case is not so well known. I think it would be good to start spreading the Italian language flyers in advance.

Better still - Croatia. It has a beautiful coast there, is far enough away from Germany that not many people will have heard of the case, and there may be some low cost accomodation now the tourist season is over.

It's just so incomprehensible to me how a thirteen year old is supposed to end up having a "crush" with a pot-bellied, gray-haired, balding old pervert if she thought she was chatting with a teen boy to begin with. What on earth did he say?

Whatever he said at first, it didn't seem to work as Maria was shocked enough when she first saw him to break off contact, her friends said. But he just seems to be one of those pedophiles who will go to great lengths once they have targeted a child - like those men who set out to marry a woman, just to get access to her child.

I think he worked very, very hard to get Maria to leave with him, and I am sure he is using some kind of threat now to keep her with. Maybe a direct threat, or maybe something more subtle like telling her how much trouble she will be in if she goes home. Or maybe simply refusing to give her any money or help her find her way out of a foreign country?

I think poor little Maria must be very scared and very homesick by now. If Haase has contacted anyone, I hope they come forward and tell police right now. Any information could help and I think it is very urgent for Maria to be made safe as soon as possible.

Good heavens! Maria's case is on the Facebook page of the Maltese agricultural society.

https://www.facebook.com/MaltaOrganicAgricultureMovement?sk=wall&filter=2

I love Malta. This I can predict with confidence. If Haase takes Maria to Malta now, he will be caught. It's a small island, where family comes first. They won't have any sympathy for a child abductor, 'respectable' or not. There are a lot of English people there too. They won't like him either.

I was just thinking that, unlike me, Haase won't be afraid of cold weather. As he has stuck to areas where German is spoken, I'm wondering if there is an area in Germany where a person could camp out, or rent a house in an isolated place, for a short period.

The area I'm coming up with is in the north of Germany. Where holiday homes and campsites will be nearly empty now. If a nonedescript man arrived alone, maybe wearing sunglasses (it's still sunny here sometimes) and a hat, offering cash for a winter rent of a holiday home, with a good reason ( just separated from wife, need some 'wellness' time), would the owner ask questions?

Many of these places offer accomodation for dogs too, and rules are relaxed in winter, about dogs going on the beaches.....so maybe Haase would be familiar with some of these holiday destinations?

ETA, sorry, the ORGANIC agricultural movement in Malta.

With all the heightened interest in the case of missing Madelaine McCann and the links to Germany, I just thought it was a good time to remind any passing Deutschland media that Maria Henselmann is still missing and needs to come home.

She was abducted by 53 year old Bernhard Haase who 'groomed' her online and in person from age 12. She is only 13 now. He told lots of people all about it too. Tormented her mother. For weeks, police refused to treat her as anything but voluntary missing and failed to put out abduction alerts. Maria could have been safely brought home months ago, in my opinion, if correct procedures for a missing, abducted child had been instigated immediately. What's happened in this case is incomprehensible.

Bernhard Haase was given the benefit of the doubt because he was 'respectable'. Authoriies who failed to help a missing child should be held accountable, in my opinion. And Bernhard Haase needs to be caught and put somewhere where he cannot access vulnerable children anymore.

Bing translation...
Locate the missing 13 year old Maria from Freiburg and their alleged companions Bernhard Haase from Blomberg in the entire eastern European region. The police have widened their search. Last, the investigation had focused also on Czech Republic, a spokeswoman said the Fribourg police on the lip talk radio. After the car of the Blombergers was discovered in July, the police assumes that the missing persons on foot are on the way. That the police controlled the cell phones of both and look at the movements on the account of Blombergers, the police spokeswoman determination-tactical reasons wanted to confirm. Maria has disappeared since the beginning of May. The 53 year old Blomberger is sought with an international arrest warrant.

Why German police have their hands tied
For half a year the 13-year-old Maria is on the run with her 53-year-old internet love. But the Europe-wide search has its pitfalls, the hope of a hot trail disappears.

The Freiburg police believe that this odd couple is staying somewhere in Eastern Europe. Since September, Croatia, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Republic and Hungary are therefore integrated into the public wanted to.
-----
Meanwhile, it's been quiet around the case. The response on the internet has significantly decreased, the police have largely withdrawn in the case of the public. The investigators can not look at the cards. But this much is revealed: The investigators strongly believe that Mary is alive. Therefore, the international manhunt continues.

One day BH will slip up, and then Maria will be able to go home.
Its 6 months. The Honeymoon period should be waning now.
Ring home Maria - where ever you are.

Hope you are safe.

6 months is way too long!

I though Maria might have been found, at last. :(

It is very hard to understand the kind of life they must be living. I also think Maria is alive. But that does not help with the biggest problem, that nobody would know if she suddenly was not alive any longer.

I wish I could be confident that authorities are still doing everything they possibly can to find her. I do not think Maria is in a safe situation at all. I think she is alone with a very erratic, unstable, impulsive man whose own family warned about him. That's not good news for anyone, let alone a child.
