That's my understanding, as well. I think the promise of much larger than usual payment was the enticement to go with him.

Agreed - just like (also from the same book by Kolker), MBB is described as being desperate to make enough money to avoid an eviction in housing court. She had a rule that she only did in-calls to her hotel room but her friends and family thought that she may have made an exception to agree to an out-call if it meant that she could make a lot of money.

What I would be very interested about is if he had any “successful dates” with any SW? Did he actually maybe ‘click’ with a few? Or did he just kill them all?
I used to work as a SW and if ever news would circulate about a bad client, more often than not there would be workers who had seen that same client and had no problem with them. My local sex worker organisation shared a warning about a ugly mug who had been accused of r*pe and attempted murder. There were workers who had been seeing this guy for years as a regular, completely unaware of the danger.

Some observations based on my own experience. All MOO.

Opportunistic type client may test your boundaries before deciding whether you would make an easy victim. They might ask, or try to do something they know they are not allowed to do, and see how far they can take it.

If you work alone, have no security. At least where I live, outcalls to private residences are considered to be one of the most high risk types of bookings. Especially late at night. The guy is in his comfort zone and you are unfamiliar with your surroundings, the layout of the house and potential escape routes.

He might also see a lack of vigilance as an invite or justification for his behaviour.

Maybe he only has disgust or disregard for certain types of sex workers... if you don't fit that type they see you as more human.

Right- that tracks for me in any kind of work. Manipulative people have to develop a group of people who had no problem- so those who call them out seem like the crazy ones.

Thank you for your insight and I’m so glad you stayed safe! <3

NYP 'experts' guessing again..
I can't with them..
I don’t disagree however, this is the first article I’ve seen to say the investigators found a lot of torture *advertiser censored* in the house. I know they’ve found his searches for it on the phones but he actually had it hidden in that home. I’m sure they are finding more incriminating stuff they aren’t divulging yet.

To move to SC, if that was his plan, or even to die without anyone knowing his crimes, did he have a plan to someday get rid of stuff? Was he going to go through all the things in his house/storage unit himself or just let someone else pack up and declutter and hope they don't figure out items were used in crimes?

Just seems like a task that would hang over the head of someone looking toward retirement and moving to SC in the upcoming years. Perhaps this isn't of interest, but if he's such a planner, I do wonder about his plan

jmo
would he ever have moved, really?
I doubt it.

He probably has a s/load of stuff on his computers, none of which would be difficult to move, destroy or conceal.

When I lived in Amsterdam a lot of my friends were Sw's but they worked on the windows and had alarms and ways of contacting each other if things went wrong as they often did with drunken tourists etc.
It was safe and because it was government regulated it was safe sexually too.

So many dangers without protection.

I'm so glad you survived and thank you for bringing your unique insight.

I agree. I'm not at all convinced that the doll has any connection to RH. It seems more likely to me,

Could have been his mother's too. worth checking out all the same.
i've been reading this, it's a tad dull but mildly interesting from Uni of California on an aspect of serial killers.. I'm struggling to finish it because it's not exactly 'lit' but someone might find it of interest.

Edited to insert title

the developmental psychology of a serial killer: a case

How do you think his personality compared to Joe Brewer? There is a similarity IMO. Neither high brow.

I suspect their shared interests might outweigh the considerations by the "country club set". Theirs is a tiny percentage of the population. I wonder if they welcome people with similar interests or would they always expect betrayal?

Man, I would love to see that search warrant. It seems as if they're taking anything and everything from that house.

They are.
Maybe an exception was made in this case for every last thing .
I suppose there is no way they could have moved their lab in there and sealed the entire house and gardens?

It's possible, of course that a small quantity of an item taken and already analysed has given rationale for additional warrants.

Cops seen carrying mysterious bags as evidence from alleged Gilgo Beach killer’s home after tearing up backyard deck, tiles

"A police dog was brought in to nose around the Long Island backyard of accused Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann Saturday, while investigators dismantled a wooden deck and removed cement tiles from the dilapidated green space."
Looks like they were photographing something in the area where the deck was pulled up. Also note the 3 large cardboard boxes with evidence tape on them.

Interesting, because in the early days, I pretty clearly recall DS saying that the night Amber disappeared she walked away from the house and he never saw who picked her up.

Anyone else recall that ?

ETA : I'll try to find the link.

Starts at the 2:51 mark
I do remember that and I've been meaning to watch the Killing Season again but I'm busy trying to keep up with the threads.
