Exactly how long after death should one be smelling decomposition? On August 5 it had been 50 days, or seven weeks. I submit that at that point there would be very little odor - if any.

I wondered about that JWG. I agree with you. The body had also been through a hurricane recently at that point, hadn't it? Flooding and then receding water could have moved it up under a bush, or a layer of leaves, etc. That's why they found it this time, the flooding in that area uncovered it this time, after it receded.

Phil Keating.........the location where remains found is approx. 20 houses away from Anthony home. On Aug. 5th the Fox News team was there and took footage of the crime scene. It was dry at that time, and no odor of decomposition. He says just because the remains were found there, doesn't mean the remains have been here all this time. He's suggesting they were moved, and says that's the reason for the specialists.

I think in August you probably wouldn't smell it anymore. two months later in the open air. anyone know?

Didnt someone in the neighborhood complain of a smell and someone found animal bones and said it was that? Does anyone remember if that was around that time?

Reporting that the Ground was not flooded on Aug 5th

Fox news had a camera less than 35 feet away from spot were bag was found & they did not notice any water nor did they smell any human decomp.

There were smells in the area that prompted at least one search.

Dr. Baden is on right now lying and saying that there has been no water in the area where the remains were found and that area had been searched with cadaver dogs and if the body had been there months ago when LE searched it, the dogs would have found it. The truth is not all of that area had been searched with dogs and where the remains were found was underwater at the time LE tried to search it. Talk about taking facts and twisting them around!!!! This is what we all have to look forward to in the upcoming months from the defense team.

Sounds like Fox is doing that generally, e.g., GR and makes me think Fox is funding the Defense.

GVS backed off this case for weeks, it wasn't just politics that got in the way and, GR was the only one with coverage but it was always JB.

GVS is now presenting the Defense side and, while there are claims on both sides -- that the crime scene was flooded and not flooded --- spinning the body was not there previously just kicks the whole thing up a few more notches.

I am certain the forensics and the bones being scattered will show both animal and water activity moved them but -- this spin in defense of the defense by Fox is intriguing. Benefactor? $$$$$$$

Its all about the ratings IMHO. No one believes in Casey, so the more drama they can bring, the higher the ratings..what better drama than bringing the defense on?

Yes, Patty G, that's why I was asking in my earlier post if they had actually said that the film clip we were watching was the same one they were commenting on. Lots of times their comments and clips aren't in sync.

I think it was likely buried too, in a very shallow grave and with all the rain from summer thunderstorms, the area flooded and the body washed out of the grave and came to rest where it was found when the water receded.

They can complain about this all they like, fingerprints from the duct tape, and a body being found regardless of when, isn't a victory for them! It doesn't matter anymore where and when, she has been found, and they are screwed.

searched by the same dogs that cindy and no doubt the defense will say did NOT hit any scent in the car or the backyard? if they are going to try and discredit cadaver dogs when the evidence is against them they can't turn around and say cadaver dogs are credible when they think it would be in their favour!

I agree with JWG-- I don't think the remains would smell a lot at that point-- The "wet decomposition" phase is the most odiferous phase-- it would have been completed by August-- I've read that submerged remains can maintain the putrification smell for much longer and that newly submerged remains emit odor--
If the remains decayed in the open originally and then the area was flooded, I think putrification and wet decomp would have been over by August.
