I haven't been to the store in weeks. Zero motivation to shop. I am loving the app on Wal-Mart, I can get everything contactless, and never go into the store. I may never shop again.
You are living my life right now. Even paid an extra $15 yesterday to have my Groceries delivered instead of going literally 3 miles down the road to have them placed in my trunk.

I just use a spray alcohol. It doesn't cost that much.
Ive been using 70% alcohol in small bottles ( refilling the original travel hand sanitizer) for everything. 91% is excellent too. I will buy 1 bottle when ever I see it. I have peroxide (the one for scapes and cuts) and that will also disinfect surfaces. These are low cost, less residual , disinfectants - that dont smell horrible. Walmart has both (sometimes) - no need for “hand sanitzer”. I keep 1 on the door of my car. One in the outside pocket of my handbag. Ive been Covid free since February. And since I have the alcohol readily available- I dont need gloves.

I don't use the Instacart app, for delivery, yet. But I admit to being a complete impulsive shopper. List? What list? I am so random, part of ADD...I just randomly buy stuff that looks good, or is on sale, or...oh, look...OREOS!

So, using the app, "forces" me into a semi-state of organization and meal planning. I am probably saving a lot of money, and throwing away less food.

I wouldn't say that I'm OCD, but I have always been pretty organized. I always have various "lists" going - something that my mom did, and daughter continued the tradition. I have lists of books to read, TV shows or movies to watch, domestic chores that need to be done, and I never go to the grocery store without a list. I mostly stick to it unless something catches my eye ;) I plan meals based on the weekly marketplace and rewards specials at Nino Salvaggio's. I get the email first thing Wednesday morning and make a list based on the foods that are featured for the week. I check pantry and fridge to see if we need staples or other items that I'll need for recipes.

DH went to Meijer on Tuesday for some personalized coupon items. Most were bogo based on previous purchases. He got two 4-packs of Kleenex, a 9-pack of TP, 3# Jenny-O ground turkey, and a 4-pack of our favorite red wine. He didn't get the no-brand disinfectant wipes that were in plentiful supply. We will go to Nino's together on Saturday to get as much as we can for next week so we don't have to venture out when stores are likely to be very crowded for Christmas. Nino's will limit customers when the store becomes crowded, and we don't want to have to stand outside in a cold tent. Nino's management always says that the day before Thanksgiving and December 23 are their busiest days of the year. I plan to make a very thorough list today after I get a pumpkin cake in the oven. I made apple sauce yesterday to accompany the latkes that DH will make for the last night of Hanukkah. Mazel Tov!

Just finished my Nino's list for Saturday. It's actually three separate lists: Produce, meat/seafood, grocery. I'll get produce while DH gets meat/seafood, and we can both work on grocery items. We will easily spend the required $50 to use our $10 rewards gift certificate. DH will likely make a quick trip to Meijer mid-week, and it's time for a monthly Costco run, but I think we will have just about everything we'll need through Christmas weekend. No plans for New Year's, but it would certainly be nice if our Governor lifted the dining restrictions before the end of the holiday season. DH got a $200 restaurant gift card for his retirement, and we'd certainly like to use it :)

Thanks for sharing. Your posts brighten my day!

DH and I no longer have a dog, but we made our annual holiday visit to the local branch of Michigan Humane Society yesterday to drop off large boxes of Milkbone dog biscuits and a check. We were pleased to see that MHS has opened a pandemic pet food pantry for those who are finding it difficult to feed their pets. Have any of you noticed these pet food pantries where you live? There are probably many pet owners who have had to make a choice about feeding their families or their pets with lost jobs/wages during the pandemic. The pet food pantry is a wonderful idea :)

DH and I spoil the neighborhood squirrels with whole walnuts during the holiday season. Nino's usually starts carrying whole nuts in bins in the produce department around Thanksgiving and through the holidays. Each time we're there, we get a bag and toss a handful out on the deck just about every day. It's fun to watch the squirrels scurry about in the backyard hiding their nuts for the winter. I haven't seen any deer lately, but I almost always have carrots and will put them out if I see deer around the subdivision.

Updating my previous post.
I'm doing happy dance! Received my 2 cannisters of Clorox Wipes from WalGreen order today! So, for now, I'm nicely restocked. I just need to be careful how many of these I'm using so they will last.

Those cannisters are huge- they should last a long time

Our humane society does a curbside pet pantry every Wed from 10am-1pm. The people who feed the stray cats that are in the park come get some of it. They’ve even been known to put out pet toys, pet beds, etc.

DH and I made our weekly trek to Nino's yesterday, and, hopefully, we have what we need for the holiday weekend. The store wasn't too crowded, there was plenty of staff in all departments, and we got everything on our list in about an hour. Shelves were well-stocked, but I did hear someone in the produce department tell a customer that candied fruit (Panettone, fruitcake, Stollen, etc.) was sold out and that they wouldn't be restocking it. The floral/gift department was practically bare, but I got a holly-berry-scented candle. Liquor department was out of the size bottle of Courvoisier that I usually get on our winter cruises, but that isn't happening any time soon, and I used up the previous bottle last week. DH got a huge bottle that should last way more than a year! I use cognac for deglazing, in recipes, gravies/sauces, etc.

We were supposed to be going to my sister's today - with dinner - but she took a part-time job and was asked to work today. We said that we were fine with coming tomorrow instead. By the time we got back from Nino's and put away groceries, it was nearly 3:00PM, and there was a lot of food prep that I would have done well into the evening. I did get potatoes peeled, sliced, and soaking in ice water, and I prepped Brussels sprouts. Pumpkin cake turned out perfectly last Thursday. I have plenty of time today to finish cooking, and will reheat items when we get there.

I live vicariously through you! Thanks for these posts, not only does it brighten my day but also gives me ideas for my Covid shopping. Which is different from years past.

well I finally got my tofurky roasts but had to do pickup at a store quite a ways from us cause everywhere closer was sold out (since Thanksgiving in October!)

also found vegan gravy at yet another store where my Mom lives but it was on sale $1.50 per can and could have got it at Walmart on sale for .67 per can but that Walmart has had Covid cases so trying to stay away from there

still can't find vegan stuffing and in fact, there's hardly any boxed stuffing of any kind at all the stores - one manager told me he can't get any in so ... the roasts I got do have stuffing inside them but it's such a small amount and I LOVE stuffing with mashed potatoes & gravy

I keep looking at homemade recipes but it looks like so much work and I'm not up for it this year

ETA: I did find vegan stuffing at, of all places, M & M Meats but they want $20 for it!!!

Happy Vegan Christmas from a fellow vegan. We have a Gardien Celebration Loaf, mashed potatoes, fresh cranberries, asparagus on the menu. For stuffing at Christmas I used an instant type version that was just bread cubes and spices. I used veggie broth instead of the chicken broth. The only thing that made it chicken stuffing was the chicken broth. I used 365 from Whole Foods. It came in a bag.

yeah we don't have the celebration loaf here in Canada and there's one type of boxed stuffing that's vegan (that I can't find anywhere this year) - the others have chicken or turkey pieces in them - I looked on Amazon too ...
asparagus sounds like a good idea!

No produce photo this week but we did get about 8 nice green bell peppers that my kids like stuffed with rice. Also, tomatoes, watermelon, apples, romaine, butter lettuce, bananas, guavas, peeled garlic in a bag, and mini cucumbers.

Now that my youngest is in a place by herself, I take the produce straight to her place. I take out what I will use, what I know she can’t use and leave the rest. Her little fridge is stuffed. It is so nice knowing that there isn’t an evil roommate around to steal her food.

Streit's seems to be vegan, if the brand is available near you? Most Streit's products can be served with meat dishes, or with milk dishes -- and under Kosher/kashrut law must contain neither.

Reindeer Haystacks on the cooling racks at my house today.
