I think the groundhog IS going to see his shadow...because he's packing now and will have moved to Florida by then...

DK, you are always the bearer of such wonderful news!:maddening:

Looks like we might get some ugly thunderstorms and tornadoes here in the south, so this is a public service announcement:

back up your computers, phones, and cameras folks!

And let's pray the weather man is wrong this time.:praying:

Oh, look at that! My 6,001st post!

Congrats on your 6,001st post, even if it was at my expense, lol!

The forecast for the IN/MI/OH region for Tuesday night and Wednesday is a Winter Storm Watch for 12-18" of snow with 30mph winds causing blowing and drifting and isolated thunderstorms mixed in!!!! THUNDERSNOW!!!!

Here in dreary ol' northeast Oklahoma, it looks like we may miss the main brunt of the storm, but not by much - my hometown in KS is 60 miles northwest of me, and they're looking at 14" of snow possible.

Here, the most recent forecast has it raining 1-2" late Monday then turning into freezing rain, sleet, and then snow to cover up all the ice (plus assist in bringing down large tree limbs) - 4-10" possible. Gee, that sounds like "missing the main brunt of the storm" only when I read forecasts for other regions!

OMG. I live in West Michigan where there is the "lake effect". I wonder if that will add to the beauty of it all.

Everyone in that area - try to stay home and safe! :couch:

Ok I'll ask...what is thundersnow? Sounds nasty

we are hearing news of this in the metro Detroit area.... and already have a winter storm warning in effect...

I guess my little bucket of salt and snow shovel are not going to get me out of this!

((sending DH and son to get firewood!!!))

thundersnow is when it thunders while it is snowing! it is amazing! I saw it for the first time last winter when we were living in kansas!

Thundersnow is wicked cool. The snow pours down just like a thunderstorm, thick as anything. But you only get it in really strong storms. We had it here a few years ago, the last time we had a heavy-snow winter.

Some of the forecasts here in Indiana are starting to indicate that we might be in the path of this winter storm. Not everyone can agree on the path yet, though. But the chance for heavy snow and strong winds are currently in our forecast for Tuesday night and Wednesday. Time will tell, though.

Hubby just called to say it's coming around noonish tomorrow to batten down the hatches and fill the fridge and call the propane people.
We should be gettin 14".
Oh joy oh fun!

18", thundersnow, 30mph winds...Pogi should be in heaven. lol
:floorlaugh:

Me too, willow. We'll just have to ride it out. Not like we have a lot of choice.

ETA: Just checked and yes, Flint, has a winter storm warning now too, active through the 2nd. This is not gonna be fun.

One of our TV weatherguys disagreed with the NWS forecast and says we will only get 2-6" of snow here. I guess time will tell...as always, it depends on the track of the storm.

{whispering that we went to the beach twice this week to enjoy our 75 degree days....I don't care about the politicians here, I looooooove where I live in the winter}

can I come over???:floorlaugh:

we had that last week!

I'm getting plow the driveway poor. In fact, plow guy told me today if it was over so many inches, he is going to charge me more. :( I can't shovel like I use to (Car has been stuck in my own driveway 3 times already. AAA called for help once. Ugh.) and the walkway to front door can stay as it is until some kind of thaw comes that I can deal with. Mother Nature is winter pissed this year....

sigh, oh goody, for tomorrow, we will be right on the line where it will be sleet, ice, and nasty precipitation. After that, on tuesday the snow begins in earnest. Blech.
