Wonder if they've considered a Tomnod project? Usually, they use satellite imagery, too low-res to be of use in this case, (I think DigitalGlobe provides 6-inch resolution - you'd probably need a minimum of 1-inch resolution - that is, 1 pixel equals 1-inch - a prone body would just be discernible - some UAV's claim even better, like 5mm per pixel ) but I think they've also used aerial photography for SAR projects - a UAV can create a high-res imagery dataset, which users can then manually search thru using their web interface to the dataset.
I'd have to think such an effort would need to wait until the leaves have fallen, however - the leaf canopy would probably greatly diminish any usefulness of a visual search.
(I hate to be graphic - but would a decomposing body show up differently on thermal imaging than the surrounding area, through, say biologic or chemical processes?)
