Just got the word that there will be no live stream today.

Oh no. Were you given a reason why? Possibly due to the storm?
Or if Kim is scheduled?
could be he storm and crews are all out filming overflowing drainage ditches and snarled traffic. ;-). If they don't film Kim, a lot of people will be mad (including me).

SC say's the first time he checked out Paraquats was on 2/1/2014 with his cousin. He did post on 2/10. Stuff about stars. There was a full search at Jaws prior to 4Runner showing up. I myself searched it on 2/11 on my dirtbike. Bonacorsi smelled rotting flesh. Now its easy to define rotting flesh. However to discern between human and animal I do not know. Human, Rat, Cat, Mongoose, Pig...who knows. And just because blanket and other stuff may be gone it does not mean the scent is still strong on soil, bushes and grass. Some dogs go nuts when they smell it. Roll around and rub themselves in it.
thank you Peter, great info. So at the time I heard the word hunch in news articles on the 4Runner find. You're saying they went back to a previously searched area? Did they get an aerial searcher tip?
OK, so Tuesday night when Adam is off to Nahiku and the Scott's are caught up in the Nala return and knowing now Charli is not OK, Steven sneaks out and deals with vehicles.

i will add any extra info or corrections to my timeline post.
was it right that on Thursday the jeans were found? So they were found first before Charli's clothing? Did the searchers hear and tell the family about these jeans? Or were they found by a "citizen" who was just there and not a searcher?

I have not heard there was blood on the blanket. Anyone? How would that be?

Charli's 4Runner not being at Jaws on 2/11 makes perfect sense. I keep thinking about one of his police interviews where he told Sgt. Loo that his grandfather would confirm that he was home by 11. To me, it sounded like he was confident that he was home at 11-something. Charli's phone pinged at 10:56, so it could not have been 10:30-11:00. But 11:45-11:59, maybe. (He drives fast.) If he had the presence of mind to try to cement his alibi using his grandfather, he would want to hurry home ASAP after the deed had been done. So what if he hid his 4Runner somewhere close to the Kalipo Place house, say not more than a 5-10 minute walk, switched vehicles, hiding Charli's 4Runner where his was, and then drove home. "Hey, grandfather, fixed my truck!" "What time is it?" "11". Being in a hurry to establish his alibi might have been why he didn't do a better job of evidence disposal. I don't know the grandfather, but I want to believe that he would not provide a false alibi to a murderer, family or not.

Then on Tuesday night, he knows the heat is on and he's got to get rid of that 4Runner. (I wonder if he had Wednesday-Thursday off work in those days. He was working on Saturday-Sunday.) So in the wee hours of the morning, he drives it down to Jaws, strips and burns it. What I haven't quite worked out is what he did with the doors at that point. I think he may have removed the grill prior to driving it back to Haiku on 2/9. He was clearly concerned about those distinctive red lights. His 4Runner sounds distinctive as well. Anyway, he could have walked back to his house, retrieved his 4Runner and then gone back for the parts. Or he could have had a friend pick him and the parts up. That person would not necessarily have known about Charli being missing at that point.
I like this theory about rushing home for the alibi. That would explain why evidence was left out there. He must have felt the area was extremely remote and unlikely to be searched.
if he wrapped her in the blanket and left her hidden until he could come back, that would explain enough contact time for the blanket to be thoroughly disgusting when found four days later.

I am saying probably the biggest organized search was at Jaws Mon/Tues. No way 40 people would not see a big 4 runner at the flat area at the very top where the road turns to dirt. The 4Runner showed up after the searches.

Kalipo is a winding gulch road. There are no turn off on this little one lane. Only private driveways. About 6. Honestly I cant imagine hidi ng it within easy trotting distance. There is still more to the story that has yet to be revealed. They know where the 4Runner was. We dont....yet.

At this point people were keeping tabs on him. He had gone out to Hana a few times after the first week.

Thanks, Peter, knowing the layout and where and when the organized searches occurred helps rule out unlikely possibilities. I totally agree with you that no way 40 people could have missed a recently burned 4Runner in the flat area at the top of Jaws. It was found Wednesday, 2/12 about 6 PM if I recall correctly. So he had to have burned it Tuesday night/Wednesday early morning after the searches. It was somewhat clever to burn it where they'd already searched, but clearly not clever enough.

I wonder if MPD put a tracking device on SC's vehicle while he was being interviewed. Is that legal for a POI? Maybe not.

I am confused here. The first week starts with Sunday night, right? I am talking about the period between night 1 and night 4, not after the first week.
I would think he'd go back on Night 2 Monday if he left abruptly on Night 1. Then if he did not finish, he would go down Tuesday afternoon once he had shown people the red herring spot, to check on the condition, but there were too many people out searching for him to put evidence in his truck. He may have thrown the blanket and men's clothes in the river at that time though. He might have gathered her clothes for later pick up if not already. That night he burns 4Runner.

Then Wed. morning after failing polygraph, maybe he feels police eye and everyone else is on him and he can't go back to Nua'ailua.

Yes, thanks to Peter for explaining the Jaws location and Kalipo Rd layout!

So another piece of mystery is how in all this did people get possession of the 4Runner parts? And not directly from Steven, one presumes, not as in "hey guys, I had to burn the truck to hide evidence, but I hated to waste perfectly good 4Runner parts, so here, I can't use them on my own truck, wink wink."

There would need to be a warrant issued first, and I guess it would be like a warrant for secret surveillance. It sounds a little FBI style for MPD. Good idea though.

We should list the stupid things that SC did to trip himself up.

1. Talked to the police without an attorney present - 3 times - lying and running his mouth throughout the taped interviews.
2. Made up an alibi that doesn't line up with the evidence.
3. Set Nala free - something a serial killer would not have done.
4. Stripped Charli's 4Runner of parts before burning it.

LMAO
5. Volunteered that he was the last person to see Charli
6. Steered the search to Hana Highway within 5 miles of the murder scene.
7. Dumped bloody jeans he had worn just over the guardrail but not over a cliff -- on a road with plenty pali to choose from.
8. Gave an interview (without attorney) to Hawaii News Now after police interviews and failing polygraph.
9. Asked co-worker how to get away with a murder before the murder.
10. Told co-worker he might have to kill again after the murder.
11. Claimed he never knew about pregnancy until Dec-Jan, when he had gone with Charli to PP early on.

Just got the word that there will be no live stream today.

No court today, because "the defendant" is sick. They took juror questions and then adjourned.

Yay for not missing Kim today! But still worried we will ... her voice needs to be heard.

12. Talked about officially missing Charli in past tense in interviews, after only two-three days, as if she was dead and gone. He would know!
