I meant hurricane. I clearly cannot participate here and watch baseball.

I tend to quote movie lines now and again. Hey I planned on being here all aft. Worked thru my anxiety all morning with mindless housekeeping tasks. Then my MIL neighbor came over to set her up with an Amazon acct. Well that didn't go well. I talked to many, many peeps in the U.S. and I kept asking them their weather. Guy in Costa Rica was most helpful. My fung shway (sp?) is seriously messed up.

My step brother lives in Ft Myers, in the red storm surge area of 12'. Got out of the hospital less than a wk ago with leg arterial transplants and skin grafts. He's not allowed to drive yet. He'll be hunkering down with a friend who is only in the yellow surge area of 3'.
The problem is Miami and the east coast had about 4 days to evacuate and get ready. The west coast had less than 2 days with the shift.

See if they can call the Lee County Emergency Operations Center now 239-533-0622. The Governor said anyone with a disability will get assistance from their home to a shelter. Let me know if you need any additional information.

They should not be staying in an area that will get at least 3 feet of water.

Are you an insomniac? My DH is. He also takes Lunesta.

When he took Ambien he would sleep-eat. Wake up with his side of the bed, and occasionally mine, full of Oreo crumbs. I was terrified he'd decide he needed ice cream, and try to drive to the store.

good point figure out ahead of time how you place your generators somewhat elevated especiallly on the west coast -- its not gonna be like if your not flooded after she gets out of here you might not get rising water a couple of days later and if it is gonna end up it might be like half a foot why wreck a generator

I have chickens, and it really isn't cruel. Like swaddling a baby, chickens can't fight, or thrash around and get hurt if they're rolled in paper and taped, as you see in the picture. I imagine they'll be secured so they can't tumble around after the picture was taken as well.

What would keep them from tumbling around? Nothing. That picture is insane. It looks like something you would expect to see in a third world country somewhere, where they have no regulations for how to treat live animals. I can't believe anyone would find that to be an acceptable way to transport animals.

Because the general public, during a hurricane, has time to find and get a poultry carrier in order to save some wild roosters. jmo

I am certain it is LE's top priority find and prosecute all those responsible for incorrect poultry transportation!!!

They are alive now. If they were left behind they would have died. Period.

All i know is it is much better than sleeping pills totally different experience

Ice cream hysterical can you imagine soup! Pot Roast with gravy! Roast beef with the AuJus!

Unfortunately not a hoax at all. That's what Donna did in 1960 to Bonita Beach! During the calm of the eye, there was no water at the beach. It then surged-in after the eye had passed and pushed almost all beach homes into the bay.

There are quite some similarities between Donna and Irma. Bad.

i have been told I am hoot before -- its the manic brain you guys better watch out tho anxiety in combination with the brain might result in Hurricane CARIIS embedded in Irma !

Was calmer about an hour ago but to be hearing that flooding is starting tornados are happening power outages roaring and its 112 miles away from the keys is pretty intense

A fried has a generator for her reridges but I am telling myself she will not be ok with me crawling in the big one in the garage she will be upset !

I smoke she hates it so I have to go outside so I thought she wont know if I open it and let it cool me down but this will be a top secret mission and it contingent on not getting electrocuted driving over there atlk about heat ugh thats well done !

believe it or not tornados are not all that common in landfalling hurricanes ( sometimes they find out they were some but they were imbeded in the bands

KaaBoom - I think these are some of the wild chickens at Key West. It's possible (and probable) the person trying to rescue them didn't have access to poultry crates at the last minute. I think that person is just trying to make do with what's on hand and is trying to save as many of the wild Key West chickens as possible.

I don't care what kind of animals they are, they should be transported in an appropriate carrier. You don't tie birds up and throw them in your back seat. I'm more shocked that so many see nothing wrong with this.

The general public shouldn't be dealing with it. Professionals should. If they are wild, it would be illegal for the general public to capture them anyway. Wild animals are supposed to be left alone.

Seriously though, I saw the msm tweet on it. The person was still in the process of burrito wrapping them in newspaper and not ready to just drive off. I mean we are talking about a catastrophic hurricane for goodness sake... people do the best they can and that was the best. Otherwise they would ALL die if just left there.

I think the chickens will be okay - it's much better to wrap them in newspaper and safely evacuate them than leave them behind on Key West where they would have surely been killed in the hurricane.

I know you care about animals. Many of us do. I think the person who managed to rescue them was doing the best they could with what was available. I don't think poultry crates were readily available last minute.

He likes it much better. He still takes 150 mg of Trazadone with it.

Don't tell anyone, but he once ate a can of pineapple, and topped it off with a packet of beef jerky. *shudders*
