NHC 8:00 advisory very similar to 2:00 version.

The eye can clearly be seen now in satellite pic. Difficult to see a turn yet. It's all about the turn. We may see changes to the forecast by morning depending on the placement of the turn.

I have chickens, and it really isn't cruel. Like swaddling a baby, chickens can't fight, or thrash around and get hurt if they're rolled in paper and taped, as you see in the picture. I imagine they'll be secured so they can't tumble around after the picture was taken as well.
Agreed. You hold a chicken tight like that too. Snug. So they dont freak out. Those birds on the keys aren't tame fowl, iirc, either. Chickens can be pretty darn nasty if they want, and these birds are likely not used to being handled.

NM My previous post. They are riding it out with an elderly relative, on Tampa Bay, above the 10th floor. Lord help them.

I fled the E side of FL, now it looks like the eye is headed right for me on the W side. This week feels like it's been two weeks or more.

Mmmmm - Hawaiian-style beef jerky.

Sounds like some of my past maryjane munchie episodes. It could be that some of world's best culinary creations are the result of mind altering substances!

my first thought was I wondered if he was pregnant

25% of the state (pop) have been ordered to move

biggest population of dementia in the nation changing their environment is supper problematic - double risk of death when moved

half a million folks suffering with it in FL

I am pretty sure they were all in the process of being seat belted in.

Seriously though, I saw the msm tweet on it. The person was still in the process of burrito wrapping them in newspaper and not ready to just drive off. I mean we are talking about a catastrophic hurricane for goodness sake... people do the best they can and that was the best. Otherwise they would ALL die if just left there.

I would argue that their chances of survival would be much better being left alone. Birds are very resilient. They don't tend to get hurt in storms. If he was just in the process, how long did it take him to get them all wrapped and tied up? How long were the birds in the backseat of his car? Apparently a very long time. Since he didn't even have them all in there yet.

If the 100+ mile an hour winds didn't kill them then the up to 10 feet of storm surge would have.

True. I actually think kindhearted, Mani, should be given the "Save the Wild Chicken" award by the Mayor. :) It does show what a truly caring man he is. IMO

If they want to ride it out tell them to not go near the windows and if a window breaks, go to an interior stairwell , usually near the elevators. They won't have flooding, but they will have higher wind speeds than what is reported.

Is a storm surge like a mini tsunami? Sorry, to be ignorant, but I live 300+ miles from the coast.
