First wife- maybe mother of the children.
It’s strange she has no other relatives noted.
And she fits the profile of his victims per daughter Lucy…
Donald Dean Studey had 4 children with Lucy Mae Hogan (1953 -1970)
She appears to have been from and is buried in Nebraska.
Parents and siblings are listed in Gary's obituary.

Do you have a link to the neighbor’s comment?
Maybe we should start a Media link. This is going to get complicated.
This is from the link in the original post :

Wake, along with others in the department, had grown up hearing the stories about an erratic, often violent and inebriated Studey, a slight man who bet and lost frequently and who regularly started fights.

The cops were afraid of him?! What?!

What kind of incompetent police are employed there?? This whole story sounds insane, but I've been here long enough to know that just about any kind of horror is possible in this troubled world.

Get to the bottom of this. Justice demands it.

Sounds pretty small town too me.

Yes. I grew up in the area, Thurman is a tiny but actually very nice little town. This address is rural, between Thurman and Tabor. Not quite as small as Thurman, but still what I'd describe as a nice little town.

It's 30 minutes from the Omaha / Council Bluffs metro, probably 40 minutes from anywhere you'd find sex workers. He was known to be a gambler too, right? In the 80's the Aksarben horse track in Omaha was a big deal, then the Bluffs Run dog track in Council Bluffs, and finally casinos in Council Bluffs opened in 1994 (might have been 1993, I don't remember exactly). All about 40 minutes from his address.

Sounds plausible to me.

Did you ever hear rumors?

Oh no, I have no connection to either of those towns other than passing through. And maybe playing against some of them in sports. I'm wondering to myself if I ever crossed paths with him in my young adult years. I was a daily visitor to the dog track for many years and hung out in the sketchiest parts of town.

I saw the dog track on the map, close by his lair.
Would it be a place to meet young women?
I looked for a truck stop around there but didn’t see one.

I’ve begun looking for Missing women in Iowa. So far in the 90’s and 80’s I’ve found 3 young women and all are identified as missing under Involuntary Disappearance, defined under the Incidence code as abducted or kidnapped!

There was in the 80’s, right off I-80 in Council Bluffs on the same exit one would take to get to the dog track. I worked at the Happy Chef across the street from it. Don’t judge! Lol!

Donald D Studey used various aliases, reportedly. Anybody find them?
I’m interested in his involvement with the uber drug and gun smuggling ring that operated in the region and Arkansas in the 80’s- 90’s. Maybe a connection there to the mayhem. Maybe he got some kind of immunity?
His daughter said he ran drugs and guns and mentioned Arkansas. So he was out on the road or controlling others, IMO. Pr he was a driver?
Did he have a other residence on that possibly subdivided properry? I winder if it was a larger property held in trust since the Sheriff said in Newsweek that a fence now separated the DDS property from the neighboring parcel. Maybe just some low cost 5 acre parcels were sold back in the day.
Wonder if he had a partner?

Missing/Involuntarily Disappeared Women who were in their 20’s and 30’s in Iowa in the 70’s- 90’s below. I know there might not be a relationship but in the absence of more info, it’s a place to start. And they look like they fit the profile. MOO
Denise would have been 30
Grace was 24-25
Barbara was 32
Jodi was 27
Beth Ann was 32

Anderson Cooper just interviewed the Newsweek lead investigative reporter. He said other step kids corriborated Lucy’s recollections. And a lot more.
Video’s not up yet but I will keep checking.

A friend of mine recently had a new well drilled. It is over 200 feet deep, but it is only four inches in diameter. How can you drop a human body down a well shaft that is is only four inches in diameter?

"Residential water wells are typically 100' to 300' deep and 4" to 6" in diameter. Local well drillers or neighbors can give you an idea of how deep to drill."
