The girl who was "touched" by a man outside a laundry mat.

Those specific ones I'm skeptical of believing, but they could be exactly what happened.

I honestly believe that hysteria causes a lot of reporting of attempted abductions. Say I had a floral shop and used a white van for deliveries, I see some people outside in their front yard and pull to the curb and ask "which way to Washington Street?" adult in yard points me in the right direction then they later see on the news that a white van has been linked to an abduction, they call the police and say that a white van tried to talk to their kids. It's true, I had a white van, I talked to the kids in the yard, but also the adult. It just isn't an incident related to the abductions.

Hopefully that scenario makes sense.

While I do feel that a lot of reported abduction attempts were misconstrued, or exaggerated, I still feel it's in the best interest of the public to report such things.

I do agree this isn't the first summer reports of abductions have been made, my guess there is a combination of media sensationalizing the stories because of Lizzie & Lyric that otherwise wouldn't hit the news and misunderstanding/misconstruing a situation.

On some level I agree with you, however this seems to be one of those tail chasing exercises where we can debate whether or not the effect of the internet is merely creating a heightened sense of things or if there are really more abductions. Well much like skirt lengths, I believe there are lenticular ontogeny curves which also occur in abduction trends.

When I was about 11 years old, my best friend and I decided we were going to build a tree house fort in the field at the end of the block. We had big plans for ourselves that day. Anticipating at least a few hours of work, I had brought a paper lunch sack with some Chips Ahoy cookies and two apples. One thing I neglected to mention is that I was a latch key kid since the third grade. This meant that I did many things my father never knew about. I would swim alone,(well I did have a German Shepard), pursued my lifelong love-making candy, and went many places I probably should not have gone.
In any event, on this particular day, my best friend and I were hell bent on building this tree fort. About 15 minutes into our project, my best friend anxiously turned to me and said, "Let's get out of here". It took me a minute to look in the direction she had pointed when she suggested we leave. I was really focused on trying to build an access to the tree. Meanwhile, she had hightailed it to her bike, which we always laid on the ground, and started pedaling away. By the time I realized there were two men approaching me rather quickly from the other side of the field, I panicked. Rather than maintaining my cool, I did the dumbest thing imaginable, I grabbed my bag of cookies and apples and ran for my bike. Why was that the dumbest thing I could have done? Well my clumsy butt managed to get the paper sack wedged in the spokes of my bike as I attempted to get on and take off in a hurry. The men, two beer belly boasting, beard wearing men in dirty looking baseball caps (actually the trucker type hats way before they were cool) had covered a lot of ground since they exited their dirty looking white pick up truck with recycled cans in the back. They seemed to be approaching me faster than I could manage to get away. Eventually I was able to kick the paper sack out of my spokes and ride like the wind to safety. When we went back to her house, we told her aunt what had happened. She laughed it off, and we never discussed it with any adults ever again.
The point of my story is this: there was a road on one side of a field, and a road on the other side of the field. Actually, they were just streets that came to a dead end at the field. Development had not yet completely expanded to the field area at that time. In retrospect, there was absolutely no reason that those men should have been in that field. They were clearly focused on the two of us, and I had a very gut level reaction of incapacitating fear the minute I saw them hauling *advertiser censored** towards us. I am not sure what the outcome of that situation would have been, had I not been able to get away. If my best friend had not been quite as vigilant in observing our surroundings, my habit of completely focusing on the goal of that afternoon would have rendered me completely vulnerable to anything that posed a threat to me.

I don't know what those men had planned to do, and I am grateful I did not find out. I do not know what the individuals in the recent abduction attempts were planning to do, but I am certain that it is worthwhile being overly cautious than it is to find out that another precious little light has been extinguished.

One question about TG vis a vis the location of the bikes..... do we have any idea how fast TG was going on the trail. If he was biking as fast as I see him biking in my mind, the girls' bikes don't have to be right behind a blind curve for TG to have to swerve around them. If he's going fast, he needs space to swerve.

He/they followed them. Just moo

Maybe he knew where they were going because he had watched and followed them before. Maybe they stopped and chatted with someone and told they were headed to the lake???

Just don't understand why they would take the children, when they could just as easily take the adult/adults they are concerned about?

:waitasec:

Just MOO

Just because it is more terrorizing and lasts a lifetime. I think you would pray you would roll up and die if you knew something YOU did hurt or maybe ended your child's life. No way to get away from it except by death. They know it, you know it...and why. Enough to drive you bonkers, imo.

my gut instinct from the start here is there was a terrible accudent. drowning, fell into a holed in the woods, maybe got stuck in the trunk of vacant car. i dunno why, but i dont feel like it was a kidnapping. no facts here. :)

At first, I thought they might have gotten into an old refrigerator and could not get out. I think the area has been searched well enough now to have found any refrigerators or old car trunks, etc. Now, I just think a perp with evil intention took them.

Um, back on track...

Is it possible that the girls were taken from the lake then the perp weighed down their bodies and put the in the lake AFTER it was drained and they moved on to other options?

Quite a few posts ago, I posted there were many homes for sale in the Brovan/Sipple area and wondered how many were vacant. In one of the pic's, the front door was slightly open. Could the girls have entered a vacant home and gotten trapped somehow. moo

In 2011, 4,593 children were reported missing. Nearly all of those — 99.2 percent — were runaways.

Less than a half percent of the cases, about 18, were considered involuntary missing persons — kidnappings or abductions — according to an annual report compiled by the Iowa Department of Public Safety.

Those 18 cases were all solved, but Iowa still has three unsolved juvenile involuntary missing persons cases on the books, including two of the most infamous cases in Iowa history: newspaper carriers Johnny Gosch, who disappeared at age 12 in September 1982, and Eugene Martin, who went missing at age 13 in August 1984.

Neither boy was ever found.

Does anyone know the name of the third unsolved involuntary missing juvenile missing in Iowa? The article lists only two.

I'm still hung up on the evidence sent to the lab. It was sent on July 20 and referred to as 'new.' July 20 was also when it was determined the girls were not in the lake. This bothers me because I feel the evidence is more relative to the abrupt change in operation (lake vs abduction) and not necessarily something that happened to turn up that same day.

Your brains are tired and I'm speaking in riddles. I fear the results will be inconclusive, yet I sit here on pins and needles.:please:

Yep, my brain is definitely tired. Would love to hear that the results have come back on the "new" evidence. I hope they tell us one way or the other.

Or the results are lost in the media frenzy of the girls coming home. Oh, how I hope for that!

Anything is likely, but someone posted there were probably cameras placed around the lake so LE/FBI could monitor any activity at the lake. It's apparently still being watched very closely. One of own even made it onto the scanner thread for investigating the area. If there hasn't been any significant rainfall, the lake will probably stay down for a while. :moo:

:eek:fftobed::bedtime: Good night everyone! Be back tomorrow!

This theory does not account for Lizzie.

:moo:

Yes it does. More terror and the further thought of anguish in it may turn your own family against you. It's psychological and emotional pure D terror.

I know nothing about Carlie's case. Did the perp have a knife or weapon and threaten her, because it looks like he squared her up directly after approaching and retrived something from his pocket? Makes me think he showed her a knife, gun or something. Thanks.

He pulled a badge out and told her he was a security guard and she was trespassing on that property. She was taking a shortcut through a car wash and I think it was closed at the time.

The same could be achieved with a midnight break in, a gun to the head, a knife to the throat, a spray painted threat on a driveway, a slashed tyre, a murdered pet.

Stealing two little girls in the middle of the day in the middle of town, with all the attendant hassle of either keeping them or disposing of them, and risking federal kidnapping charges to boot, just doesn't make sense.

This theory also presupposes that Dan actually cared about his daughter and niece...Lizzie was not even blood. Most drug users are more concerned about their drug supply. The fact that neither parent had physically "cared" for Lyric in any sense for some years, and put their addictions first, tends to argue against them being used as pawns to get to him.

Cutting off his drug supply would be a safe, easy, cheap way of REALLY hurting him.

Not bashing...just stating facts and how they have affected my opinion.

My theory is increasingly simple. The girls biked to the lake, passing the cctv, and they arrived at the trail where they were ambushed and abducted by someone who was there...then they were taken away either on foot or by a vehicle, because there was plenty of time until 3:58 for them to have been escorted, carried, driven, or dragged away. I think they are somewhere in the general area, and I do not think they have survived. Obviously, I want to be completely wrong. JMHO

Agree with your whole theory, except the conclusion. I think they are being used for long term profit and sick gradification...and no time constraints for how long they gone. (FBI)

Tracking these sickos and leading to an arrest is no easy job at all and I think it's the reason we don't tend to believe it's so common. From what I have read from MSM, reports, etc, it's becoming a big business and quite entwined (international) for those involved. Especially with the ease of communication by the net. Not at you Sunlight..:) nor saying you believe this, but it's not a bunch of ignorant, slobby looking pervs. They have a well oiled machine of a corporation and "agents" of their own to protect their security. ICE and others are having to be on their toes at all times to keep up. imo
