Here is a site you might find informative:

http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/race-death-row-inmates-executed-1976#defend

This info is current as of 12/12/12.

....CA should be ashamed of themselves. I say let's start rolling out those gurneys and fill those needles.

....I should apologize to those that believe in life....however, I got to read files, so I get to say, "Off with their heads". I have not checked out the ACLU site yet., but will...hate to go there. The ACLU and U.N. are my least favorite organizations. My Christmas Wish is for them to disappear.

:drink:

So then my next question is, why kill the kids? Why not kill the adult or just beat the adult to within an inch of his or her life? Both of these could send a message or fill a need for revenge. I'm not saying that it's impossible, just trying to figure out what turns someone into a child-killer their first time committing murder.
A monster who doesn't want to go to jail would do this. The monster might have "silenced" the girls because of knowledge one or both had related to a crime that would send him to jail (very possibly a previous molestation of one or both girls).

I think we're in the minority right now, folks would be happy to see this guy swing and I don't blame them.

I can absolutely understand the hatred and wish for revenge.

Heather and Drew have no hate, nor wish for revenge, and I think they are the ones whos lead should be followed. We can't be vengeful on behalf of people who so clearly do not wish for revenge.

:moo:

Better people than me because if it were my daughter, I would torture the guilty killer to death.

I must say I was really, really surprised to hear a tv interviewer quote a psalm. In Australia they would be more likely to produce a cabbage from their elbow than refer to the bible.[/quote]

KWWL is a very well respected station/news dept .. has followed a long
tradition for generations ... commensurate with the values of the area.
They are great people, for a fact. Let me also say the Psalms are cross-denominational.
From Bible to Torah.

The problem lies in putting the poor people who cannot afford good legal representation to death. Blacks are more likely to be falsely convicted and put to death for a variety of reasons. Poor representation is only one reason. False witness testimony is a real problem. I wouldn't want the blood of an innocent on my hands.

I got 30 minutes into Heather and Dan's marathon Ron Steele interview (no relation) and it was clear to me that LE have told them nothing.

It coincides with their wishes, but it seems LE have literally told them nothing, which I find a bit strange.

Has anyone watched the whole hour and half or whatever it is?

I watched it, too, and despite the expressed wishes of Heather and Drew not to know how the girls died, it still struck me as a bit... strange. I do respect the family's wishes and all, but I also kind of got the drift that LE wouldn't have told them much anyway. Is it just me, or did anyone else feel that as a possibility?

I don't want to sound, um, gruesome here or anything, but... didn't the two also confirm they were actually given both girls' shoes? Not merely, say, shown photos for ID and all, but the actual shoes? Lizzy had on high-topped tennis shoes. Um... it makes me wonder a wee bit if those shoes were... on their feet when found. Am I making sense here?

This is a working theory of mine...
"Silenced"
I feel certain that they knew something.
No idea what though.

I'm still not sure if related to a sex crime or not.

Since there is no info to go on having a real opinion is
not possible for me.

This is way off topic, but was it ever revealed where Tammy and Grandma went after telling Heather and Misty that their daughters were missing? (Drew called them back to help.) I wondered if Tammy and Grandma left to check on the location of Misty's brother.

It won't happen here much longer either. Australia has been exposed to socialism longer than we have.

I think you may have misunderstood. I have read all the posts, each and every one of them. I even read the original one on the blood. My question was regarding the significance of these long running conversations. I now understand that I did not miss anything and they are simply conversations that had to run their course. Not criticizing in any way; just confirming that I didn't miss anything.

Well, some of us are STILL hoping you missed SOME of it... the "female" parts. :D ANYway....

In the article I read, it stated that they were shown items belonging to the girls. LE wouldn't have given the family evidence (smelly or not) to take home.

There are some profound differences between the two cultures, and you're right, it can be summed up as largely a reflection of socialism.

Also, Australians disrespect and mistrust authority automatically.

We would never have the DP because we would never trust our pollies enough to administer it!

Ah, yes, I should have rephrased that to "physically shown." And I guess shoes would have been the... best for positive ID and all. Maybe I actually just kind of hoped they were lying there nearby, less association and all.
This whole thing just so hits 'reality buttons,' what can I say?

If Heather and Drew were shown the shoes, they were probably in baggies. Or pictures of the shoes? Either way, parents worst nightmare. I don't think any of the girls' belongings would be released to the family. They will be used as evidence in the trial. And there will be a trial because there will be justice. Imo

It is just speculation that the girls may have been shot.

I read recently that over 70% of the population of the US lives in a metropolitan area. I often feel a little confused on urban cases because what's normal in urbia or suburbia is just not normal out here 30 miles north of the middle of nowhere.

As you said, I just ignore gunshots out here. I suppose if I lived in town, hearing a gunshot would be cause to call 911.

It's a very different way of life.

It sounds like the wild west with the relaxed attitudes towards gunshots.

Is anyone surprised that the $150,000-$200,000 hasn't gotten the monster arrested? What do you think it means that nobody has turned the monster in for this huge sum?

I'm wondering if the flip flops were actually found on Lyric's feet.

If so, does it indicate they were carried in, or walked in?

I would say, walked in. A kid can keep their own flip flops on if they have to, but if they were carried through growth, a flip flop would be likely lost somewhere on the way, or at the very least, knocked off then tossed down somewhere at the scene.

A perp would not place them neatly back on her feet in my opinion.

Did Heather and Drew actually say "they were still wearing their shoes"?

May indicate a lone perp - pure specualtion on my part.

I think they walked in to that area, too. I haven't read where anyone stated the location the shoes were when found.

IIRC. I don't think it has been stated if the shoes were on the girls' feet. I think H n D just mentioned that they were shown the shoes. Did they say other items as well? I can't remember, but I think so. They just didn't elaborate as to what.
