wait a MINUTE: This group has promoted Saving Able as their lead band performance from the very beginning but it wasn't until YESTERDAY that they actually committed to it. SMH

SAVING ABEL WILL BE AT THE CONCERT FOR THE ANGELS!!!!!
Their Sturgis Falls performance was canceled. Jared(Singer) and his wife are "expecting" around the time of that show and so they cannot commit at this time. BUT THEY WILL BE PERFORMING AT THE CONCERT FOR THE ANGELS!!!!!

Wow! :what:
Further confirmation that there is little long term planning nor any sense of proportion.

Reminds of "That 70's Show" where the teens are all sitting around a bong in Eric Foreman's basement, sharing some pretty crazy ideations. Like..."the car runs on water, man!" Later when sober they can hardly remember anything.:blushing::moo:

and the way I am reading it The band was scheduled somewhere else at the same time!!! WTH. What other shenanigans are they up too!! :fence:

Hello everyone! Well, I made it up to Seven Bridges today to take video of the park and I'm in the process of trying to convert the video to a file I can upload as my stupid cell phone took the video SIDEWAYS!

Anyway...apparently great minds think alike because you guys are not going to believe this, but I ran into a fellow sleuther while there! Cindersoot!!!:seeya:

It was actually hilarious because my husband was with me, and I saw her go down the path immediately coming into the park with a camera and I said to my husband "I'll bet you $100 bucks that's another sleuther". He says "whatever...what are the odds".

Well, when we were walking back to the car we ran into her coming back from the path she took (which was the same way the older gentleman had taken, which is actually the opposite direction of the bodies) but anyway, she stopped us to ask if we were from Evansdale. I said "no...we're just here taking some video of where the girls were found". She asked if we knew where the area was as she wasn't able to find it. I then asked if she was from Evansdale and she CAUTIOUSLY :floorlaugh: said "uh...no...I follow the case online". I started laughing and said "Websleuths?" She squeals "OMG YES...WHO ARE YOU?" I told her my username and she started screaming OMG OMG! We were so loud at our shock her husband literally jumped out of the vehicle thinking something was happening to her. :floorlaugh::floorlaugh: She had to yell back "I'm FINE...don't worry"!

My husband just stood there laughing saying "Oh for God's sake...are you KIDDING ME?"

I was SO excited to see a fellow sleuther there! My husband just laughed on our way home and said "wow...you two were just in your own little world out there trying to put the pieces together". :floorlaugh:

I'm going to be posting the videos as soon as I possibly can so everyone can see the terrain and how stinkin far it is from the turnabout back to the area where the girls bodies were found (I'm guessing a good 150 yards probably!)

$20 to see "Saving Abel" is so cheap and what a wonderful concert it will be! :great: I am just thrilled for Lizzie & Lyric that this band will perform in their honor - it will be awesome, I wish I could be there. Maybe someone in the area that has not heard of this tragedy will be at the concert and remember seeing or hearing of something and be able to give us the missing piece. ($25/at the door - great band!)

How could "everyone" not know about the missing cousins? It is amazing the number of people that have not heard.

My neighbor; Ali Lowitzer, has been missing for almost 3 years now (April 26, 2010) and many in the area don't know who she is or about it period! There has been extensive news stories, searches by National Missing Child group "The Laura Recovery Center", benefits at local establishes with great turnouts ... yet there are some that know nothing about it. Wait...what is the bolded part in response to? I feel like most people in Eastern Iowa have at least heard of the case. I would very shocked if someone who lives close to Waterloo didn't know of the case. I know there are people who don't watch the news....but eventually, you are going to hear about this. Also, I feel like two missing cousins is sort of a conversation starter like people would have gone to work and been like "Did you hear about the two girls who were abducted?" so it would also spread by word of mouth. I do not know how much coverage there has been in the Des Moines area or in Western Iowa, though, or how well-known the case is there.

I was just exploring the Evansdale website, and came across a good photo of the Island as it appeared in the summer.

My parents live just across the border in Minnesota and the news coverage for Lyric/Elizabeth has been great! They are the ones that told me about their disappearance back when it happened. They even know about DM's troubles through newspaper/TV/radio news/coverage! (My dad was raised not far from Waterloo area)

The point of my prev. post is: I have a bumper sticker of my missing neighbor and post the flyer in the windshield of my car while at grocery store, church and Wal-Mart - people ask me about the bumper sticker/poster all the time. The grocery store is 2-3 blocks from the missing girl's house, the grocery store has missing flyers, those postcard inserts (value pak coupons) have been mailed out to all of us several times, AND her story has been on the news for the past 3 years! I am shocked to learn the number of people that do not know (or care) that she is missing and/or about our missing children as a whole. There are many people that do not want to know about such things.

What a day. Kuddos to my fellow sleuther and her husband. So surprised and excited to see her. My word, seven bridges is a sad, sad place, the wreaths sitting where the bodies were found. The coldness and sadness covers the area. When your there you can't help but feel for these children and what they must have gone thru. I have many pictures to post, will do tomorrow. Visited Evansdale lake and was shocked at the progress at the island, took pictures for you all. I also walked from the pump house thru the maiden woods to the lake where the purse was found. I'm telling you one thing, with all the foilage gone from winter, it is very easy to walk thru there. It felt very spooky walking that area.

You guys...I am gonna SCREAM!! I can NOT get these videos converted to a format that will let me upload! :banghead::banghead::banghead:

My dang flip cam's battery was dead, so I took the video with my Droid Razr - which films in MP4.

I have downloaded a converter, but I have no idea what format I can use to get it to upload to an acceptable format that will also not have the video going sideways.

URGH...this is SO frustrating.

Any techie help would be wonderful!:blushing:

Prediction from resident cynic (I know y'all have missed the cold hard voice of Steely reality) -

Angel's Park volunteers will run out of money quicker than they run out of grandiose ideas.

It will be left half built and a permanent eyesore that will cost even more $$$ for the city to patch up.

Kind of concerned that the lead fundraising lady's husband is also the winning bidder on the project - that's if they put it out to tender in the first place.

Angels Park = White Elephant = someone's making money off the entire mess.

I personally cannot believe they were allowed to scalp the island and destroy a wildlife habitat without more consultation. Critters go homeless and die when people take their environment away suddenly.

ETA: these kids will be braiding bracelets for the rest of their lives...!

I bluetooth mine, if thats any help...then fiddle with it in windows media.

That highways does not go near 7 Bridge Park ... so in terms of a "drug route", it's doesn't seem specific enough to count in the abduction murder of two children near the interstate and left 20 miles North of that interstate.

You seem to have misread my post.

Specifically, I am speaking of drug traffic through Evansdale to Waterloo and points north ... a road of travel north and south with east west arteries.

I am NOT speaking about I380 going to 7 Bridges - wherever that came from. If I said that it was a mistake.

I would like to know how much this park is estimated to cost. They should be realistic about how much money they can raise since they claim they won't use taxpayer money. Get some idea of what businesses will donate money.

For the Jessica Ridgeway park renovations, 300k is from taxpayer money, about 60k from three local businesses, and 100k from personal donations. I know that these are two different cases in two different communities, but as you can see, in the Ridgeway case, they were "only" able to make about 160k from personal and business donations. Unless the people behind Angels' Park are significantly better at fundraising than the ones behind JR Park, I don't see them getting *that* much more in donations. Also, the people behind JR Park were only able to get a few businesses to give any money to the park renovation, so I don't see Angels' Park doing a whole lot better.

So like I said...two different cases...but I would be very surprised if Angels Park is able to get significantly more than JR Park did in donations, or is able to get significantly more businesses to donate money. Especially since JR Park seems to be way more organized in what exactly is happening.

I came here to discuss the case, not some park project.
Will take a vacation until something concrete has surfaced in the news -
ABOUT THE CASE! All take care ...

:banghead:

Dan has now pleaded guilty to even more drug charges for his actions after the girls went missing.

I'm kind of stunned to read this, see the picture of him in handcuffs, and to realise he will likely never see freedom again.

I guess this article means he's been remanded in custody for a sentencing hearing, it's a bit vague...does anyone know when he's likely to be sentenced?

It is my hope that there will be news of an arrest almost directly after Dan's sentencing and final incarceration. :please:

I really don't see what the problem is with us discussing the memorial. Is it better for this case to become like Baby Lisa or Isabel Celis or Kyron Horman where the forum goes days without any posts? The park project is still part of the case. It is also pretty obvious by now that LE is not releasing any information about the case. It's not unrealistic to think that it might be months before we have something new to discuss. I would much rather talk about the park than just have a topic where every few days someone posts "Bumping for the girls!" and that's it.

Here are some additional renderings of the park:

Can you convert it to .avi? I don't know much about video, but when I make an animation, I export in .avi format and it uploads to the net without a problem. In terms of the rotation, not sure what to suggest. Sideways is better than not at all.

I drove by there yesterday and thought the same thing!

She needs a software that will convert it to image frames, rotate each image
frame, then recombine into a new moving image (movie). The simplest way to
do this is to convert it to an a.v.i. An avi is composed of bitmaps (bmp image
files). Then rotate each bmp and recombine all the bmp's in proper order.
There is freeware that will do this (Handy AVI). Otherwise you will need a more
sophisticated software which can deal with the files at hand and rotate and
reassemble them..

I am always getting vids from family who forget to rotate the camera to
the UP^ position ... its sort of funny watching the grandkids, from the
side!:seeya:..... I hand out advice but nobody listens. So Im use to my
grandkids upsidedown! :seeya: or tilted 45 -90 degrees. The camera doesnt know
how its being held or it would say "Ooooops. Wrong angle". The future will accomodate
that.

There is probably someone else here familiar with what to do ... Let's see ...
for volunteers.
