I recently watched an episode of Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern. He was in Iowa and a large portion of the show put the spotlight on a hog farmer in Bremer County. I googled and I guess a lot of other websleuthers might have seen the same show. I was a bit taken back to see that this episode of Bizarre Foods was filmed the same week Elizabeth and Lyric went missing.

WAVERLY --- Carl Blake spent the past five years cross-breeding hogs searching for the perfect combination of fat and meat.

His latest result is so tasty and rare it lured Andrew Zimmern of the Travel Channel's "Bizarre Foods" on Wednesday to the former Bremer County Poor Farm near Waverly.

Blake breeds two varieties of hogs to create an Iowa version of the Swabian Hall swine. The purebred combination of a Meishan hog from China and a Russian wild boar from Germany got worldwide recognition in the 1800s and was named the best pork in the 1892 World Fair.

BBM I hadn't heard that before, I remember others searching other venues that were in town that weekend the wrestling match I think it was...

Hearsay is not my favorite either but lacking anything official for so darn long I'll take hearsay all day long if it means we don't have to go back to arguing the timeline or discussing paddleboats.

Just sayin ;)

"We've searched everything numerous times," Kietzman said. "At some point you have to trust your searchers that you've done a good search, and that she's just not where you'd hope she would be."

wow, this is depressing news.
because the guy killed himself, he could have only gone so far, if all the areas in that distance have been searched, where could she be?

I still have hope they will find her. I am still riding the fence as to if he is involved with our girls but so far nothing has excluded him in my book.

I take heart in the similar case of Sidney Randall. Her stepdad and she disappeared one night and then the stepdad was found dead by apparent suicide. Sidney was nowhere to be found and rumors abounded that he was molesting her prior to his suicide.

Sideny's body was found, after many many hours of searching when searching stopped a random fisherman out for the day with his family found her body.

I hope the young lady in Kunkel's case is not dead, but as time passes . . .

But my point being, even when all hope of recovery seems lost, even when the search areas seem so vast. They do get found, they are able to be laid to rest by their families.

ETA Sidney's body was located in the river, after the recent rains her body was apparently dislodged from where it rested and got hung up in the branches of a tree during some high water in the area of the river.

Very depressing! To me, it means if he is a POI in L&L's case, he changed up his MO in body disposal. Ugh!

Yes, the wrestling match and some kind of religious venue ? and fundraiser for The Depot. . .

It seems timely to throw this out there -

We had a serial killer in Australia who was responsible for the deaths and disappearances of several young women.

Imagine how LE felt when several years later, one of his "victims" turned up alive and well and hiding in her boyfriends cupboard - she had been there for years, undetected.

Bizarre.

IIRC the serial admitted to her murder, too. She had been declared dead.

Did you know 99% of all modern American serial killers have some sort of fundamendalist Christian background?

so they may "say/or claim" they do; if they truly believed they would be choosing to follow the commandments and #6:
Thou shalt not kill

Unfortunately the use of the DP in the US (breaking all International Law btw) gives certain self righteous types the belief that there can be justified exceptions to this commandment.

I hate hearsay. Just sayin.

You say you don't like hearsay but I few pages back you posted that you had been hearing reports that they didn't think there was a connection to MK. Where did you get your information from? I'm not trying to be snarky or disrespectful here, I'm just trying to understand. Can you please post a link showing where you got those reports from? TIA

I'm not a fan myself. But, I thought it was important to share because at the very least, it is evidence that investigators truly are looking at this potential lead. And I hope that it's evidence that they are looking at every lead and following each one as far as they possibly can.

Given that the conversation was with a person from DCI, it may also mean that there is DNA or other crucial evidence involved that we don't know about. Which gives me hope that even if MK wasn't responsible for Lizzie and Lyric's murders, they will eventually find the person who was.

Until we are given more information regarding our girls, all we can really do is speculate. Sometimes (depending on the source) hearsay is better than stone cold silence.

I noticed that on fb Mk likes "Christian Music" and Ariel Castro says "God is good and miracles happen"...(or something along those lines).

This is interesting. Where did you get this statistic from?

Not saying I don't believe it, I'd just like to know/read more about it...

All I'm gonna say about hearsay is this...
- Recently, WSers on the Skylar Neece case's thread found the hearsay they'd "heard" (or read) to be correct when arrests went down.
- Last summer, basically all of Acadiana knew who was being looked at and likely to be arrested for the death of Mickey Shunick about 48 hours before it happened thanks to "the Cajunnet" (or local gossip). The perp was just about the only person in the area who somehow didn't know he was likely to be arrested. Many of us WSers from the local area were on to it but had to keep the info in PMs instead of on the board because of TOS (a guy who might be innocent was getting sleuthed). But the rumor turned out to be true.

Sometimes, rumors and hearsay are spot on. Sometimes they are completely wrong. As long as it's clearly stated as rumor & we don't start sleuthing someone who may be innocent on the threads, I'd like to at least hear the rumors, in case they do turn out to be correct.

I undertook the research and compiled the figures myself. Sounds insane but it's true, I have.

It is stunning how often this factor appears. It also appears in family and mass type murders, but not quite as often...maybe only around 50% of those.

There are always exceptions to the rule but overwhelmingly, fundamentalist or overly strict Christianity is part of the recipe for "how to make an American serial killer".

I'm so g.d anxious for ANYTHING AT ALL in this case that I am thrilled to hear the girls even mentioned by LE.

I still don't think this guy is our guy, but there are some alarming facts coming to light about LE's handle on child kidnappers. It seems they can roam just about anywhere and they just fall off the radar.

That seems beyond slack. This guy was right under their noses, and if he is, so are others. What/who else have they missed? :banghead:

Hi SapphireSteele, Everyone! Hey, did you do any research on percentages of children being murdered by family members and people the
child trusts versus strangers?

Thank you Palaminodee. This is a good suspect, although dead. Many hopes for fibers or something to be matched to him. He sounds extremely suspicious in Elizabeth's and Lyric's case. Test it now!

My prayers for the missing child. My prayers for all of the missing tonight.
