FYI I just ran a check of her name in the Interpol missing persons database and Mollie is not in there.
I am very curious as to if any veterans here suspect a random abduction? And if so, why? Tia.
Agree with you on the logic but a few things stand out to me in this case:
- If that happened and she let dogs out of basement when she got back from the run, you would think they'd immediately pick up the scent of a strange person in the home and go to them or at least be excited/bark/etc. This would alert MT that something is wrong
- This also wouldn't give the intruder the element of surprise and even if MT walked around to investigate, she'd either have time to send some kind of alert message to someone
- Let's say the intruder grabs her by surprise and tells her to put the dogs in the basement again. That is going to take some time and I would think she'd struggle or at least try to fight them off; evidence of which would been available inside the home to LE
It's definitely a plausible theory but I don't think it fits in this case. Intruder would have to be in home too long and would need everything to go right for that to work. I think it's a much stronger possibility that MT left voluntarily because she knew whoever it was or knew who it was and they turned out to have sinister motives she was unaware of.
That’s not surprising. She likely didn’t have her passport on her and the circumstances don’t indicate that she is out of the country.FYI I just ran a check of her name in the Interpol missing persons database and Mollie is not in there.
Her father's pleas- the way her bf and brothers and mother speak of her- at the PC the tone did not seem to me to be one of searching for a body but rather directed towards someone who has Mollie - I cannot fully explain but I in no way believe that she is no longer here
I have a bad feeling about this....
Boyfriend says missing college student probably didn’t lock doors
Exactly my thoughts. The only time the agent showed any type of personality was when he discussed food.
Don’t know about newer fitbits, but I had the Fitbit Alta, and it wouldn’t transmit data anywhere without the phone. It collected it on the Fitbit, then transferred it to the phone via Bluetooth, then the phone sent the data to the cloud. The Fitbit couldn’t talk directly to the cloud, so you wouldn’t need to turn off the Fitbit, just the phone.Few things that have stood out to me:
1) When looking at a map she was very close to a major highway and truck stop
2) They say she went for a run from 7:30-7:45. A 15 minute run? Seems awfully short to me.
3) The fitbit in particular seems strange to me. I can understand a perp turning off the phone but they would first have to be aware that she had a fitbit and two, figure out how to turn it off. It isnt easy and there are websites with directions on how to turn them off from people who had no clue.
Here is one entry I found on turning off a fitbit:
Unfortunately, turning the Fitbits off, is not very easy. This is good for making sure you don't accidentally turn it off, but makes it a burden when you really want to. Turning your Fitbit off depends on which Fitbit you have.
To turn the Fitbit One off, you need to plug the charging cable into both the Fitbit and your computer. Then you must hold down the button on the One for 12 seconds. Even when the battery icon disappears after 5 seconds continue to hold the button down. Then remove the charging cable from both devices. The Fitbit is now off. To turn it back on, just press and hold the button for a few seconds.
First time poster here. I haven't read every word of all 9 threads yet, but I've read enough to throw this theory out there. If it's already been discussed, forgive me because I know from other message boards how annoying that can be.
Let me circle back to the mystery of the dogs. Why were those dogs in the basement if Mollie was home? How can this be reconciled with the info that the dogs get free rein of the house if Mollie is home? Let's play a what if? game. What if at about 9:30 that night the dogs start barking at a window and maybe even growling? Mollie is confused because she doesn't see anything unusual when she looks out the window. Maybe she's thinking they were barking at a squirrel. She tries to get them to stop barking, but they just won't have it. Maybe she's thinking "oh come on, I don't need to deal with this right now, it's getting late and I'm trying to do my homework". So she puts the "misbehaving" dogs in the basement so she can get some peace and quiet and get back to doing her homework. The whole time this is happening, she's completely unaware that there IS someone lurking right outside the house. She misinterpreted the dogs alerting on the intruder as them misbehaving or getting wound up over a wild animal, not knowing that they're trying to protect her.
It would be very easy to track and maybe they have tracked it but if she were able to exit an airport without being stopped, the trail would get colder.
This is standard behavior, you assume the victim is alive, until you know otherwise. Preservation of life is the most important role of LE. From what we know about cases like this, as each day goes by, her being found alive decreases. That doesn’t change the public posture of law enforcement, until they have evidence that indicates that she is in fact dead.I picked up the same thing Bits777. Tone & vocabulary from Mr Kevin Winker, non-verbal communication from Mr Randy ... I apologize I can't recall his surname (the FBI agent) above all in two instances during the presser, and her father's pleas. These three aspects have made me believe she is still alive -or they think she is- and the press conference yesterday was more than a presser, it was a "dialogue" of sorts with those involved in her disappearance.
lolI meant more the times when the same article gets posted multiple times in succession, just the same link again and again. But ok, if others like that then I’ll just scroll on by.
Thank you sooo much!! You put into words what I was unable to!!!I picked up the same thing Bits777. Tone & vocabulary from Mr Kevin Winker, non-verbal communication from Mr Randy ... Yes -- it will measure the hours you sleep per night. They are close-fitting to your wrist, they are often plain-colored, and they have small bands. Mine is gray-colored and very lightweight. They have to be charged every 3--5 days or so. You remove the little monitor from the fitbit and put it into a charger. Some fancy fitbits include a watch.Fitbit is a wrist-watch type thing, isn't it? Don't people sleep with it to analyze their sleep cycles and other vitals.
I don't know if we know what pings or tips lead to the farm searches but most people wear their fit bits 24 hours a day. I believe it's even been confirmed by family that Mollie is one of those people. The farm searches were done because tbe fitbit pinged off a cell towe neayby, correct?
But we dont know what time it pinged. I wonder if she wore it to work...she probably did not wear it to bed..?
I am trying to come up with a theory of when she went missing.
Late at night or early am.
