Should I assume that the mother of his child has been extensively interviewed? Especially if she was still living with him at the time of Mollie’s abduction? She would certainly be able to offer info about him and his whereabouts and demeanor then. Alibi/no alibi, did she do his laundry...

I just watched the First 48 and there was a case with a crime scene mapping specialist who overlaid the victim and the murderer’s cell phone pings and showed the where/when of the crime and then the movements of the murderer after the fact.

I didn't think he looked scared at all, un less it was an intentional act to appear so. He looked cold as a stone, with no emotions whatsoever. His lack of eye contact and other body language does not imply shame, it implies deception. I did not detect fear at all, and if he is fearful, it is because he got caught.
I agree in fact he looked to me like he was aggravated. He has problems psychologically with direct eye contact.

The car in the photo appears to be an 00-05 Chevy Impala. It could look like a 08-11 Chevy Malibu, however the distance from wheel well to bumper is longer in a Impala.

Is LE wrong that the suspect was driving an Impala and not a Malibu?
I think this is true. I made the same mistake when I saw the car. I made the assumption it was a Malibu because of the spoiler on the back...malibu being a sportier model then an impala back in the day. A mistake LE themselves may have made when they viewed the car on the video.

In that same article it states that the car has been on that property for several years and banged up. I recall reading that it was not registered to CR. This makes me think it is probably a car the farm has allowed usage of it to the workers to run errands and is more then likely registered to the company. If that is the case I doubt the owners check to see that whomever drives it has a valid license etc. Migrants come and go as noted in the article stating there is a revolving door of employees. I doubt very much that one of them has remained for years and the car is registered to them. More then likely the farm's.

Is psychopathy considered a mental illness? What category does it fall into?
It is definitely a type of mental illness but not one that absolves you from a crime. My sister was diagnosed as a sociopath prior to her trial and she was still found guilty.
Edit to say that it is a mental disorder not a mental illness. The difference is environment vs. genetics. However living with a sociopath since she was the age of 5 and having the same environment I respectfully disagree with the difference experts use. JMO and for what it’s worth.

FWIW, my unfortunate experience with a narcissist/sociopath is that the 'shame' is really about being exposed to others for what you are. These people are obsessed with a fantasy image of themselves.

I have profound personal experience with narcissists, too. I know all the ins and outs and games and manipulations, etc. Based upon what (little) we know of CR so far, and my personal observations, I just don't think he fits neatly into that category. Yet. As you probably know, narcs are always in it for the long haul, though, so we'll see.

They're paying a couple local reporters to work the case. They continue to put out the best work on this case imo.

The rest of the site still looks like a cesspool, a bunch of celebrity stuff, but they've put out so many great in depth stories about this case. Very impressed.

Daily Mail is a tabloid not known for it’s credibility.

I can only imagine what kind of information she can provide. I sure hope she's honest and not at all interested in protecting him for the sake of their child/relationship. On a 1/2 related note: Do we know how cooperative his mother has been in all this? Was she not pictured sitting in the courthouse too yesterday? She would have some insight on the last month when speaking to her son? Was he acting his usual self I wonder?

I carry one all the time, it's more durable and less expensive than a folding knife and changing the blade when it gets dull is much easier than sharpening one regularly.

My guess is that the "sharp instrument" was either a folding knife, utility knife, or hunting knife that he regularly has with him and was just handy if the attack were sudden and unplanned. If this was something he was planning it could be anything.

But the idea that he just happened to be carrying a machete or a hatchet because he worked for a farm is ludicrous, IMHO.

Duster, I get that you're a farmboy, and that having a machete just 'cause you work on a dairy farm is ridiculous. But from my life perspective, CR having a machete makes plenty of sense, not so much because of Iowa, but because it's a Latino thing. My elderly, ex-farmgirl, native Mesoamerican Latina mother kept razor sharp machetes hidden next to the front and back doors, just in case! She grew up on a mixed dairy, truck farm, small livestock farm in Colorado in the 30's. She grew up with a "corn knife" in her hand, and would tell me how the migrants would make them from auto leaf springs. Razor sharp and always kept tucked in their pants. Their corn knives were made with an offset handle to harvest artichokes and lettuce, and were more like a straight blade scythe. This is the same environment that a rural Mexican farmboy might grow up in still today. A machete in the car would be second nature to him, and is something that he might take with him, into a corn field, to clear a space.

When her adopted family finished their harvest on their place, they would pack up and follow the migrants from Four Corners through the southwest and into California picking and harvesting. She was fascinated by the movie East of Eden because she harvested lettuce in the same way when she was a kid. She was always handy with a knife.

Also, I have a Latino cousin who was hacked savagely (30+ times) with machetes at a rural wedding reception in Colorado that was crashed by farm workers who did not take kindly to being asked to leave. Like I said it's a cultural thing.

Thank you for clarifying! I have relatives with mental illness, but I wish psychopathy had its own term. I loathe it’s pegged as a mental illness.

August 21? Thats interesting. I guess they didn't really know what date to use so they just used the date she was found.
JonBenet Ramsey's parents used Dec 25, even though that was when she was found deceased, and it most likely happened on the 24. In a situation like this, I don't fault the parents...do whatever makes you feel better.

Ok, say he “blacked out” — How is it then possible he led investigators back to her “by memory”? -As per the Affidavit.
LE said he said he "blocked his memory" (not blacked out, per se, but that's how it's been referred to alot here and on MSM) between coming upon her running and "coming to" in his car, seeing an earbud in his lap, and that making him realize he had someone in the trunk of his car. Not that he blacked out the whole entire evening, nor where he disposed of her body.

Corn stalks bend near the ground very easily. One wouldn't have to cut it at all.
I continue to hold the opinion that the killer in his rage whacked off the corn stalks.

The arrest warrant clearly states Rivera said he carried her over 20 meters into the cornfield. He said he covered Mollie with LEAVES. It is believed this crime took place at night. I will continue to believe he cut, not bent, the green woody cornstalks and covered her body so that it wouldn't be detected by drones.

Something kind of interesting that I just noticed on the arrest warrent. The time range of the incident is listed as 07-18-2018 19:45 - 20:28.

19:45 could be a general time, but 20:28 is kind of specific. I wonder how they came up with that time. Something must have happened at 8:28 PM. Maybe that was the time her phone stopped pinging.

Very early on, when it was speculated she may have been hidden in a cornfield, those who have experience with cornfields said the corn leaves would cut a person up pretty good and it would be noticeable - it's hard to believe CBR didn't have at least some damage from having been in one that his GF would have seen, esp. considering what he had done there.
