Question about the truck stop shower facilities...would he have had to have contact with anyone to access them? And who knows, since there are reports that he lived alone, maybe he really didn't care and just drove home and cleaned up and cleaned the car.

Since the car wasn't registered to him, one wonders what went through his head as to using it to commit a brutal crime and having a bleeding person in its trunk. But obviously, murderers don't think like the rest of us.

And while there has been no mention, or evident correlation, this could be gang related as well. I emphasize we have not heard of any gang affiliation, but I wonder.
It appears he acted alone, but we don’t know...yet.
Hadn't thought of that, but I'm not sure if there is much gang related violence in Iowa. Is there an opiod problem in that state? There seems to be a correlation between the two issues.

I wonder if his Malibu has a glow in the dark emergency release inside the trunk? I think all cars are now required to have this inside the trunk. If that is the case, and his car had it, that makes me believe that she was either unconscious or deceased when he placed her in the trunk.
You just made me think about something, wasn't there another point where they figured something had happened? Could she have come to, tried to release the trunk release, he had to pull over and restrain her again? I think it was one of the points on the map.

I'm curious why it wasn't on his aunt and uncles minds. I've read that he could be registered in school even as an illegal immigrant child. Why didn't they immediately register him in school? Was he older than 16?

IMO, he may well be older than stated. It would be easy for someone of smaller stature to shave off a few years.

I think, at 17, his culture considered him a man. No further schooling needed. Time to make a living.

My Fitbit will sync with my iPhone only when I am connected to a wireless router. Meaning, it collects my steps, heart rate, sleep pattern all of the time, but it doesn’t show up on my fitness app (on my phone and iPad) until I am home.

Thanks. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Perhaps they drove near enough a wireless router Mollie had saved/connected to before.

I know I'm usually the wet blanket but this is a little grim. Wouldn't anyone want a free public school education and the opportunity to do more than farm work? It's reported his father is a farmer in Mexico, I'd imagine his parents wanted him to have a better life than they had. Something got off track somewhere with this guy.
It’s generational. As a teacher, I see it every day. It’s sad.

Never believed it was the pig farmer. He just looked nervous and awkward to me.
The pig farmer didn't fit to me either. But then my guess was way off. I was really thinking it was someone who had family in Brooklyn, but didn't live there and was in his 30's.

It will be very interesting to see if the red shirt found was planted by CR
It may not even have been THE red shirt, but just a red shirt planted to further push things in a direction.

Good Morning everyone!

Have to run out today but did want to comment on this.

If they can afford Coyote's which are expensive with no guarantee that you will get here alive or if at all they can afford to do it the right way.
We have laws but they are not followed, hence the problems.
Schools are not allowed to inquire or report immigration status.

Right, her mom said it wasn’t hers but we know CR reads and is involved with social media so he may have gone with the initial description of her wearing a red shirt and the pig farmer info and planted a red shirt.

He had to have been keeping track of the investigation, even his family and friends were talking with him about it.

The idea that an able bodied male should be in school at 16 rather than working is a relatively modern invention and even now it is a luxury for affluent nations.
In Mexico, only 45% of people complete high school.
Here are the ages its legal to leave school around the world. In Mexico, it is legal to leave school at 15. Sometimes getting a job is a more important goal than a few more years of education.

That's exactly what I thought about the truck stop. If he had to walk through the main public area, or if he had to pay first at the counter, it wouldn't have been feasible. I also wondered if he lived alone, and if so, there's no question in my mind he simply cleaned up at home. JMO

Family: Don't exploit Mollie Tibbetts' death for racist view

DES MOINES, Iowa (KCCI) —

<modsnipped to comply with 10% copyright rule>

But Tibbetts' family have denounced those politicizing her death, saying the University of Iowa sophomore would have not accepted "racist fear-mongering."

<modsnipped>

"He is a man, whose path in life crossed that of Mollie's life, with tragic results," Murphy said. "He is a man who felt entitled to impose himself on Mollie's life, without consequence. He is a man who, because of his sense of male entitlement, refused to allow Mollie the right to reject his advances -- the right to her own autonomy."....

Oh yeah, I remember something like that on the map. That could definitely have been the case.

It would also be a way to play with LE and taunt them.

I haven’t seen anything that states the year. That would be helpful to know. I have the feeling it was pre 2014 unless it was run to the ground and they got a great deal on it.
