Indeed. It is wonderful to see such acrive concern. I'm impressed by how seriously this has been handled by all. Birna's family must find a small bit of comfort knowing that all possible is being done to find Birna.

This is a avery sad case - I was recently in Iceland and have good friends there. I always felt safe from people - in fact the sea and the vast expanses of nature were far more terrifying than Reykjavik at night. I just don't feel like this will be as straightforward as it seems.

I have been following this case since Birna went missing and hoped she would be found safely. It would seem that the case is leading towards the outcome being less so.

Police officer Grímur Grímsson who leads the investigation of the disappearance of Birna Brjánsdóttir says that not much progress was made to shed a light on her whereabouts.

What today's search did however do to was to eliminate certain areas so that others can be searched further. Nothing today was found that can be connected with Birna in any way.

Police are looking at the cellphones of the two men in custody and according to Grímsson there is still a gap in the timeline of events between 7 am and 11.30 am when the Red Kia Rio was driven from Hafnarfjörður harbour on Saturday morning, a drive which took four hours. It is possible that the car got pretty far in that space of time which means that the area to be searched is very large.
