State police director:

Vitally important that we get the information we have out to the public. Crime knows no boundaries...

ISP is firmly in support of the work Moscow police are doing. This is a team effort.

Balancing act of getting information out with building a case against any perpetrator.

Crime lab is involved with processing evidence.

Provided detectives from multiple locations, and patrol resources.

Want this done correctly.

Questions:
Isolated targeted and there is an individual somewhere, why do you think this? No forced entry?

Door was open when officers arrived, not broken. We believe that based on our observations and information of the scene.

Twitch video Matty and Kalee LE is aware of that video? Yes, helps timeline.

Party at the home? Not at their home that we know of. X and Ethan were at a party somewhere on campus.

Any connection to a previously reported stabbing? Doesn't believe so, but can't rule anything out.

Moscow police appear to be searching for a “Rambo”-style knife involved in the killing of four University of Idaho students, a store manager said Wednesday.

Scott Jutte, general manager of Moscow Building Supply, told the Idaho Statesman that police have visited the store more than once to ask whether the retailer sold anyone KA-BAR brand knives, which are also known as Kabar or K bar knives. KA-BAR, of Olean, New York, manufactures military-grade blades that were originally designed for use by American troops in World War II.

<snip>

“They were specifically asking whether or not we carry KA-BAR-style knives, which we do not,” Jutte said in an interview. “If we did, we could’ve reviewed surveillance footage. But it wasn’t something I could help them with.”

Isn't that the same type of knife someone linked early this morning or late last night? Sorry too many posts, but whoever linked it, kudos to you!

Interesting the state policeman mentioned the difficulty of balancing "getting the community the information they need to have" and "making sure we provide a case that the prosecutor's office can go forward with". I wonder if that reveals anything about this case specifically or is just proof of their awareness this is a high-profile case in the age of the internet (re: Delphi).

Every university in the region needs to be on elevated safety protocols. JMO.

And, I am sorry, but as a parent with a child in that school, it is the president's job to insist on the correct answers to give their kids. He didn't, Mayor was wrong, and no accommodations were made for students it doesn't seem.

SOMEONE ASK HOW MANY PEOPLE THEY HAVE INTERVIEWED.

HOW WERE OTHERS HOME??

They are saying it's a targeted attack because there were other housemates in the house who were not attacked. Chief of police just confirmed this. They were not held hostage, presumably they were asleep until midday and called in the murder when they woke up and discovered it. They must be the women in blankets who were crying outside.

Yikes, sounds like they have no idea. I'm not sure how you know it's "isolated and targeted" if four different people were stabbed to death.
Originally said it was a crime of passion. Targeted is NOT a crime of passion. A crime of passion is in the spur of the moment and unmeditated. It can't be both. And, a person who killed 4 people is definitely still a danger.
