The "source" said. hmm I'll look for more citations.
Authorities tracked the Idaho student killings suspect cross-country to Pennsylvania, sources say | CNN
Authorities tracked the man charged in the killings of four Idaho college students all the way to Pennsylvania and surveilled him for several days before finally arresting him on Friday, sources told CNN.www.cnn.com
An FBI surveillance team tracked him for four days before his arrest while law enforcement worked with prosecutors to develop enough probable cause to obtain a warrant, the two law enforcement sources said.
Genetic genealogy techniques were used to connect Kohberger to unidentified DNA evidence, another source with knowledge of the case tells CNN. The DNA was run through a public database to find potential family member matches, and subsequent investigative work by law enforcement led to him as the suspect, the source said.
LE had killer DNA from the crime scene
If they used genetic genealogy techniques and a database and found a ’match’ , that isn‘t a match to a person- it is a match to a genetic line of people which could include thousands
This genealogy match, his residence location, his car, and his study in school could have supported a warrant to follow him and collect his DNA from trash
BCK DNA then was run in comparison with DNA of killer from the crime scene = 100% match
