I’m confused why the police narrowed it down to a 2011-2013 model, we know BKs car was 2015. Seems a bit clumsy of them? I mean if I knew BK and noted he drove a white Elantra, knew he lived close to the area, I would probably discount him because his car was the wrong year.
It’s likely many other people would also do the same. His parents might have thought the same also.

I don’t know, not sure why they would do that? If police weren’t entirely sure of the year, why narrow it down so much? That could have really backfired on them

Agree. It was only a chance a private citizens ring type camera captured the Elantra.

After looking at Elantras and how similar they all are, I wonder why they stated the year span they did for it. Did BK replace hubcaps at some point?

<modsnip - no link from an approved source>

Also the fact his car is a 2015, did he think he was in the clear!?

AND, one of his teachers was deeply involved with BTK.
In concert with the comment he made recalled by a classmate that he believes some people are destined to kill…

No doubt it means something to him that his initials resemble Rader’s self-ascribed moniker. He worked in pseudo-LE, like Rader. He studied criminology, like Rader, and a local college—where he chose to go— just happened to have a Rader “specialist” on its faculty. I could see him convincing himself it was his fate to emulate Rader wrt to cruising neighborhoods, selecting a house, and committing murder.
Where did Rader hide his weapons/kits?
MOO.

I wouldn’t know the difference between a 2010-2022 elantra, regardless of color.

I’ve also wondered if he took pictures or even a video of the crime. As he does not seem to have a social media presence- his intention would not be to share online to a community.
To revisit the crime scene virtually, I think so
To have them become part of historical record like other killers he has studied, I think so

I agree that he may intend to play games, where is the evidence Nov 13-Dec 30??

Someone has convinced him he is brilliant, and the media seems convinced. He cannot be.
A smart kid takes advanced courses in high school, receives a scholarship, graduates with a bachelors at 21 like Kaylee. and could do masters at 23, PhD by 25
Not genius to earn a MA at 28, he is FIVE years behind peers
This means he has always been one of the oldest in his college classes, he doesn’t fit

Why an inflated sense of self? Psychology is not the path of a criminal genius.
Psychology is toward neuroscience, a BA and MA avoids the math and science.
A PhD would include graduate level statistics. Where is his math and science background?

I guess he chose the knife because it is close and lets off anger and shows he is physically strong. But, that came with consequences…and he does not understand the nature of a stabbing in terms of forensic evidence- arterial blood spurt, blood splatter, cast off, DNA.

We overestimated this guy
So, What was his point? A degree began, a crime done halfway, a poor application of what he had learned?
The stabbings of four intoxicated young people in their sleep
Eluded capture for not quite two months
In hindsight this crime can’t be viewed by him or anyone as genius Or a Perfect Crime

It seems the criminal flop of an educated socially awkward <modsnip>, does it not?
A wake of destruction- and fear- for what?

MOO-because for 7 weeks he thought he had the upper hand having so many people on edge. Control. Superiority. So he thought.

Woah.
I was SHOCKED when Dr. Lieberman suggested that BK’s obsession with veganism/no meat in his pots potentially signals he has a fear of cannibalism for himself!
Not to malign Dr Lieberman, as I don't know anything about him/her. Clearly :). But I sometimes think people go just overcomplicate things. And talking heads sometimes say shocking things because it gets them invited back. My psychology professor once told me I was afraid of heights not because I was afraid of falling, but because I was afraid I would jump. And he was quite displeased that I didn't take that seriously. He didn't know that I was quite near-sighted. Years later, I had lasik surgery and, while you won't find me mountain climbing, my extreme fear of heights went away. Turns out, I found the extreme difference between the blurriness outside of my glasses and the clear view inside the glasses frames disorienting. I was literally afraid I would fall. And now I'm not. :)

Lets stick to the order of events, as my reply to you was purely a comment in what order the events occured.

On 7th of December LE mentioned the white car for first time. Shortly afterwards, i think it was on 8th if Dec, they clarified that yhe car in question is Elantra model 2011-13 and the whole hell about videos, gas stations etc enrolled. Couple of days later, around 10-11 of Dec LE asked for information on white Elantra in Troy area. And then they stopped asking about the car. Like at all.

Which, to me, could mean only one thing: they got the car, they knew where it is, who is the owner, etc.

Chief Fry said in his interview or during the presser (after the arrest) that the car was identified on tip-off, it us not my imagination nor guess, it cane straight from LE mouth.

So it is a safe to say that between 8th of Dec abd 12th if Dec the car was identified and they knew the name if its driver & its owner (as they are nit same person).

So, then BK became POI, just before 13th of Dec.

Why i am so sure that he became a POI on or before 13th? On 13th of Dec BK and his father MK started their 2500 miles car journey home and, as we know now, FBI was following them all the way.

At that tine DNA match was not yet available, otherwise LE would have arrest BK before the trip srarted.

So, DNA match was received AFTER info about the car and AFTER BK arrived at PA.

The above is based purely on pieces of information available to us right now and a logical explanation of this information.

Nice explanation.
Maybe they had a partial plate or they knew it was PA plates.
PA plates have distinctive yellow strip so maybe this was picked up on a dash cam or something.

I know BK got a ticket in August but the fact his car was a 2015 might've thrown them off the scent.

7 weeks is nothing in the life of an academic who spends years on good research.
I think he overestimated himself, did not know all the things he did not know.
He rushed it, will see it as a failure
I wonder if he will commit suicide

We have yet to hear from any former girlfriends, and I’m betting it’s because there aren’t any! I’d say this comes down to his alleged anger, narcissism, social awkwardness, inappropriate chats, egotistic views and belief he is superior intellectually. All this from former friends, acquaintances. It would be interesting to know the family dynamic here. Surely you can’t hide all those traits at home. Did everyone walk on eggshells around him? Was he pampered and coddled to avoid blow ups? Not judging the parents or family here, just curious if you are more aware of a persons traits such as these if you are close to them. He seems to burn bridges in friendships quite quickly, how would that work in the family home?
Honestly, if I were an ex-gf of this dude, I certainly wouldn't be coming forward. Why would anyone?

I think it will indeed be hidden almost right out in the open..
That is if the precautions or actions he took subsequent to the massacre were intended to challenge LE as much as covering himself. Thanks MamaZ.
I think in HVAC somewhere. His apartment or the school (but guessing his apartment since there are fewer cameras there). I don’t think he just dumped it out the window as he was driving somewhere. Hard to get rid of it if dad’s with him heading home. MOO
