Being arrested is not a proof of his guilt. Only court of justice can decide on anyones guilt. Period.

Duty of care, even in such impossible situation, is entirely on the university, but they decided to relief themselves from it. If i am their student, i will immediately go another uni, because the admin of this obviously cares about thenselves, not about theur students.

Whatvif he dud not do it? f he is innocent? He goes free in few months. What then? He will sue them for several mullions. Who will cry that it is unfair, then? I wont. I will say it is justified, they worth to pay hefty compensation, in this case.

He could have been suspended from his PhD study, for up to a year, even longer. It is not an employment, as you say, it is a study. I took a year off my PhD study when I had to, no problem..No harm will be done to anyone to suspend him until is clear where this goes.

I hope I managed to answer your questions.
Isn’t Washington an at-will employment state?

It is possible Bryan may take everything literally. Like he thought the question was “Where are you headed ….right now lol. In order to get Pennsylvania as an answer the officer prob would have to say where did your trip start and what is your final destination. Verbal Communication is not seemingly a strong point for him.Imo A very Black and white guy at best and literal. Easy to see why the guy is constantly bewildered and frustrated and cannot form relationships imo. The Dad seemingly though just so proud of his boy - telling both LE where he goes to school and just happy to be along for the ride. All JMO
Good catch. Excellent.

You are right. Most people would answer, "Pennsylvania" or "Home." The "Thai Food" answer really does give insight into how his stressed brain responds. It would be bewildering, to have to guess at what information people really wanted from you. He must lack some basic interpretive ability for incoming words (spoken words).

I'd love to see him do that test that involves having people explain common proverbs (as a test for concrete/literal thinking vs analogical/metaphorical thinking).

Yes this is the first traffic stop, released today.

Wow. So both stops in the same day were for following too closely!

And great example by the deputy of how only the occupants in this vehicle are aware of the WSU shooting that occurred the evening before the traffic stop. I'm glad to see that BK appeared to be obsessing over campus news from Pullman, WA

I can't wait to learn about the forensics for his computer and phone and how many times a day he checked for any break in his killer case while he was on winter break. No doubt this will shock his family. o_O

Don't you think the University has a right to control its reputational risk insofar as being associated with someone currently charged with four murders?

Most employment is at will. Unless you have a contract that says otherwise, your employer can fire you for any reason that is not discriminatory based on protected characteristics.

Employers discriminate against people accused of crimes every day. Do you know how hard it is to get a job even as a retail manager if you have a criminal record? Employers discriminate against people who committed minor crimes 30 years ago and have turned their lives around and live productive lives in society now. This is why annulment statutes are so important. Because this happens every day and not just to high-profile people accused of violent crimes, but people with misdemeanor records of non-violent crimes.

I don't know why someone arrested for heinous crimes should be given any more deference than anyone else.

The universities have ti exercises their duty of care to their students and their academic and administrative staff as a top priority.

Reputation is down the list of priorities. Besides, there are no direct accussasions against the uni, at least not something we know about.

He is their student plus he is their employee as a TA. Duty of care is on them. When and if (logical AND) he is convicted, then they are free to decide what to do. However, his guilt is far from being proved, he basically has no idea what incrominating evidence they have against him. The step is preemptive for no reason, as noone at the uni is under imediate danger (he is in custody).

I find it extremely hard to believe that his dad seems so concerned about the shooting in Pullman but doesn't know anything about them looking for a white Elantra!!?? NFW
Who knows, maybe he told his Dad, "listen, cops are looking for a car like mine, I obviously didn't do anything, but it's a hassle and I want to drive the car back to P and sell it". And now the dad thinks geez, he was right, the car IS a hassle.

Sorry, I'm WAY behind so I'm sure this is already posted, but...

As case advances against suspect in U of I killings, Idaho judge issues sweeping gag order – The Seattle Times

The probable cause affidavit that lays out the case against Kohberger remains under seal per Idaho statute, but it was expected to become public once the suspect is in Idaho and the charges are entered in court. The order is not expected to affect the unsealing of the affidavit, a spokesperson for the Idaho judicial branch told The Idaho Statesman.

“As stated in the order itself, this applies to the parties of the case, not the records of the case,” spokesperson Nate Poppino said in a phone interview.

The FBI has to have planes that can fly longer distances, doesn't it? But then, it might have been a convenience and security thing. Speculation only: PA LE had a plane nearby and ready to go, whereas getting another plane in place would take longer. And changing planes anywhere along the way would introduce all kinds of security risks -- taking BK on/off planes --- so they just decided that PA LE would get to escort BK all the way back. Plus, it gives the ID LE, attys, court officials, etc more time to plan. (all MOO!)
The Marshalls have a fleet of 737s to transport prisoners and deportees. Something like that would be used only if this was considered a federal crime, which I believe it is not. Also a 737 would be exponentially more expensive to use to fly one passenger.

If my research was correct, this plane is registered to the state of PA corrections. It makes sense that they're the ones directing the transport since BK is being extradited from there.

I just cannot believe he told the cop, TWICE, that they were going for Thai food. Even after the father initiated the WSU banter.

No dude, you’re going to Pennsylvania! I bet his heart was going a million miles an hour when dad kept popping out actual truth. “The Pocono mountains.” Poor dad.
Besides bragging about WSU and PhD was pathetic!
"Criminal Justice" - so we are buddies officer

Weren’t they in Washington when it occurred? I could definitely see someone talking about something so big when they were so close. I imagine there was a lot of emotion tied to the experience. Moo

Ok I feel like I'm obsessing over this. Watched the 1st bodycam footage again. When BK initially says "we're going to...um...actually...getting some Thai food"....his Dad says "well ugh, we're coming from WSU" and BK turns back towards the steering wheel and appears to say... "getting Thai food" (heavy confused nod, bordering on angry).

What if he was innocently in the house previously though? We’ve seen videos where the victims aren’t home and there’s parties at the house. He didn’t even need to be invited by one of them for a friend of a friend to have invited him in the past. I’m sure that house has a plethora of dna. I agree with you it matters a ton on where his dna was found specifically.
Feel sure his attorney will bring this up at trial, and any other LE reports.

Only 100% way to use DNA would be if found on the victims.
Moo...

I understand that a arrest is not equal to a conviction. I just do not equate any of this as an injustice to his innocence. Most contracts in my life would definitely have an out for an arrest on quadruple 1st degree homicide.
It was my understanding that the TA position was in fact an employment. Was he in a paid position from the university? I dont know for sure and am done with this line of thought.
Thank you for the information.
On a side note, if I may ask, are you ACAB?

1/4/23

She has worked for the Kootenai County Public Defenders office since 2004, and was given the top job in 2017 after John Adams retired.
