Not necessarily. For example, not if the the unknown subject has mental illness. Yesterday Mr. Goncalves said that the intruder left a sloppy crime scene with evidence all over the place. That indicates a disorganized offender. Univ. of Idaho killer was ‘sloppy,’ left ‘mess’ of evidence, victim’s family says
I just don't buy LE actually found much evidence linked to the perp. Of course its sloppy. 4 people were stabbed to death and at least one fought back. There IS alot of evidence. Every drop of victims blood is an individual piece of "evidence". If the perp was so "sloppy" Why are we so far out with no POI. To me this looks more like an organized killer.
Just because its a sloppy crime scene with lots of evidence doesn't mean any of the evidence is left by the killer. I think they have shoe prints and maybe prints from a glove. I don't believe the perp cut himself with his own blade. JMO

I'm beginning to think LE is telling the truth and has no clue who the killer is.
I don't think they know.

MOO: Initial investigation was sub-optimal (substandard), due to overwhelmed small town police force. (Initial statement made, which I won't repeat and has been retracted)

ETA: I had originally used the word "botched" to describe the initial investigation, but I don't believe it was completely botched and I was using slang. I do believe some timely evidence may have been lost. (Not at the crime scene, but around the town)

So, they are trying to "catch up". Hopefully they have enough evidence to catch the perp. I'm sure the initial investigation compared with local police files/reports etc.

How does he know that K left school before her semester was finished, skipping assignments and exams? She may have completed her degree requirements after taking summer courses, thus making her eligible for December graduation.
As I understand it that's exactly the case - she was just waiting to graduate.

the fact that it was a "party house" is also a huge complication. People were in and out of that house a lot so there's probably so much DNA of various people there. Which one is of the killer? that's going to take quite awhile to sort out.

Can’t quote the post re: the tattoo on the surviving roommate. (Still new here)
But from MM’s Instagram, it looks like she also had the same wing tattoo in the same spot. It makes sense to me. They probably feel pretty helpless and this is a way to grieve.

Add to that, potentially none of the dna recovered will be from the killer(s).

This is my question as well. It certainly looks like blood - color, coagulation - but doesn’t seem to be treated as such by investigators. Unless something has changed in the last couple of days, I haven’t seen any evidence markers near it, nor has there been any attempt to cover it (either for preservation or out of sensitivity to the families).

I've been thinking the same. IMO, we would see markers or a cover, as you mentioned.

As another WS mentioned on Banfield's Podcast with Latah County Coroner Cathy Mabbutt, the Coroner said she believes it is blood coming from inside the residence.

Exactly. Whether the killer is organized pertains to how carefully he planned the crime and took steps to avoid leaving evidence ... not how "messy" the crime scene was.

Speculation/JMO - if we're talking about the perp getting into a rage after rejection/being rebuffed, it seems unlikely that M would be the target, as she had a bf. Just in my experience "having a bf" is a good excuse that guys will take if they're turned down. Versus (from all reports), K was single. Obviously K&X were in a relationship. Unless the rejection was unrelated to a "romantic" or physical thing like social acceptance i.e. being invited to a party, etc.
