ALEX COX’S GUN: More details on the initial second-degree murder of Charles Vallow that Chandler Police currently rule as a self-defense homicide. This report details the findings of the fun Cox used in the shooting. A Springfield XD .45 caliber handgun lying on the carpet next to an orange duffel bag. Inside the bag, a black hard sided case with .45 caliber magazines and ammunition.

The detective recalls the magazine having five cartridges inside. The magazine indicated 13 cartridges could be loaded. The rest of the report describes the blood found in the kitchen sink, layout of the home and no sign that Charles had been moved.

“This one is definitely at the top of the list for being unusual,” said Rich Robertson, a private investigator with R3 Investigations in Arizona.

Robertson was hired by Brandon Boudreaux in October 2019 after he was the target of a drive-by shooting.

Brandon Boudreaux is the ex-husband of Lori Vallow's niece, Melani Boudreaux.

“The person [Brandon] recognized, the person he suspected was the person who did the shooting was the same person who killed Charles Vallow,” Robertson said.

Brandon Boudreaux claims the person who tried to shoot him was also Cox.

“The vehicle that was involved in the shooting belonged to Charles Vallow," Robertson said. "It was a green Jeep Cherokee with Texas license plates. He recognized that as his former in-law and he suspected Charles Vallows' killer, Alex Cox, was the one driving that jeep.

Robertson would later track them to Rexburg and do some surveillance.

“We saw them loading the U-Haul they rented in Arizona and took to Rexburg and we saw where they were living but we didn’t see the kids,” he said.

At this point, it had been about at least a month without anyone having contact with JJ or Tylee. So at the request of other family members, Rexburg police went to Lori Vallow's home for a welfare check on the kids.

Robertson also told KTVB Charles Vallow had a $1 million life insurance policy. Originally, Lori Vallow was the beneficiary but later Robertson said Charles Vallow's sister, Kay Woodcock, was. As far as he's aware, that is still being resolved.

Per school officials at Lauren’s Institute for Education, staff did make report to CPS regarding JJ around 2/21/19 because Lori Vallow had still not been located. Now we can confirm she was in Kauai w/ daughter Tylee Ryan for about a month.

Justin Lum Fox 10 Phoenix So at this time last year, Charles has gotten an order of protection and has filed for divorce. Lori had left around the end of January to Kauai for about 30 days and took Tylee with her. But Charles or his attorneys could not locate her to serve the order. He told the school staff about her behavior and they also informed CPS, making the report of Lori not being in contact.

Via FOX 13 News we are now hearing the 911 call from 11/14/19 in American Fork, Utah where police say Melani Boudreaux (Lori Vallow’s niece) trespassed on the property of her ex-husband Brandon’s parents. I previously reported that her uncle Alex Cox drove Melani to the home in a 2020 Kia Telluride. Brandon’s father tells the dispatcher Melani wanted to get her kids and that the family believed she was involved in the attempt on Brandon’s life in Gilbert (10/2/19). During the call, Brandon’s father yells at Melani from inside to leave his garage immediately.

Melani was booked into Utah County Jail on a misdemeanor and Cox bailed her out.
