Happy Birthday to your son on the 10th!

Trenton was my first as well. I just happened to have had the Glenn Beck Show on, which was rare. He had said something on his radio show that day, and I wanted to see if he would talk more about on it his TV show. I left the TV on and here comes NG and the 911 call that Melinda made, and the pictures of Trenton. And that was the beginning of all this for me.

Rest in Peace Robert...:rose:
See you when I get there.
Thank you Ivan's Phoenix:blowkiss:
I have been very, very blessed, and Thank God everyday for all six of my Blessings.

I am curious to see bf and other's pictures and body language during funeral.........

The case of 8-year-old Robert Manwill has raised two persistent questions:

® Why did his mother get 30 days in jail, a suspended fine and probation for fracturing the skull of Robert's infant half brother?

® Why was the baby allowed to return to his mother, who was still on probation for harming him?

Robert was found dead on Monday after being missing for more than a week. Boise police say they are investigating his death as a homicide. Robert spent most of his time living with his father in New Plymouth but was visiting his mother in Boise at the time of his disappearance on July 24.

WHY DID MELISSA JENKINS GET THE SENTENCE SHE DID?

(snipped)

http://www.idahostatesman.com/newsupdates/story/860183.html

BBM...The only two reason's I can think of why she got the sentence she did is:

1) Our system sucks , first offense for her.
2) She did not do it, the BF did and she took the blame. LE and the DA knew
but because she took the blame could not pin it on him so they bargained it down to the 29 days and small fine..
JMO of course

wow! overnight, you all have hit on everything i've been thinking!

as far as MJ...obviously, i don't know her AT ALL so what i'm going to say may not be fair. i don't know what she normally looks like when she's sad.
but to me...the look on her face in the pics i've seen doesn't just look like a distraught, crying mom. it looks to me like 'worry'. in the pic i did see of her actually crying i had to wonder was she crying for poor Robert? or was she crying because she knows the whole story and knows what's coming?

Wallis' vehicle...the whole thing just bugs me. IF david 'borrowed' it why would Wallis claim it was stolen? i mean, wouldn't Wallis know david had it? we haven't heard a peep out of any of them what the case is with that...

IF david had it and maybe BF knew he had it...yeah, i could see him calling david 'hey, i've got some trash i'd like to take to dump, wanna come get me or can i use the vehicle?'

OR...it may be as simple as david stopped by BF's with the vehicle, BF still had blood on his hands/clothes and touched vehicle or walked by it with bags with trash in it and brushed the car, not knowing. that's why the dogs hit on it?

OH...and Wallis is the only one we've heard it from that the dogs hit on the vehicle, right? which he says, that's what lead them to search the back yard?

at what point would Robert be put in the canal though? it would have to be after dark, wouldn't it? what time would MJ get home from work (if she was working)?

BBM..It is my understanding that mom got home from work around 9:00 - 9:30 PM.
The last time Robert was seen was around 7:30 PM according to the little girl playing with him. So given the time frame that only leaves 1-1/2 to 2hrs max to harm Robert and get rid of his body.
I think he was not reported missing until 10:00 pm wich would increase the time to get rid of his body by an extran 30 mins and at that point mom would have to be involved, unless BF was not home when she got home from work and upon his return he could have told her he was out looking for Robert because he was missing.
This is a short amount of time to clean up something and dispose of the body. Little Robert was found about 14 miles away from the apartment and only a couple of mile's away from Wallis home in the canal...
Any thoughts ?

I have been a lurker on this site for a long time and finally registered while following the Robert Manwill case. I come from a LE/Coroner's Office (death investigator)/Search & Rescue perspective & just have a few remarks.

Someone mentioned the colored flags used by the search team. In my experience the team manager at each event designates what the colors "mean" (if that's necessary) and that is not released to anyone outside the team. Results of the search are then given in report form to LE.

RE: scent in Wallis' yard. It is possible that there was scent drift (depending on the wind, temp., and decomp rate) coming from the canal into the yard from Robert's floating body. Why the canal was not already being searched I have NO CLUE. (Is there no water search team in the area?) I wish I knew more about the dogs used and their training as well.

Mention was made of the remark of a "hit" on one of the vehicles. Depending on what the dog is trained for that could mean fresh (live) scent matching a specific person or "cadaver" scent which could be the scent of blood, body fluids, skin etc. It does not have to be visible to the human eye for the dog to make a hit. (And they are amazingly accurate!)

I apologize if some of these have been posted already. I'm just now catching back up on the thread after being ill yesterday! :blowkiss:

Robert Manwill's mom followed steps in custody case
The state has a procedure to decide whether a child is reunited with family after possible abuse.

2ND HEADLINE:
WHY DID MELISSA JENKINS GET THE SENTENCE SHE DID?
In March, Robert's mother, Melissa Jenkins, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor injury to a child after Robert's half brother, Aidan Ehrlick, then 8 months old, suffered a fractured skull in October and was placed in foster care.

3RD HEADLINE:
WHY WAS THE BABY RETURNED TO HIS MOTHER?
Jenkins and boyfriend Daniel Ehrlick had been working to get Aidan back since Jenkins' sentencing in March.

4TH HEADLINE:
WHAT'S THE STATE'S PROCESS FOR DECIDING CUSTODY CASES?
The Department of Health and Welfare treats every case of suspected child abuse individually, said department spokeswoman Emily Simnitt. But for any report of child abuse from any source, the state takes the same general steps.

5TH HEADLINE:
WHY WAS ROBERT ALLOWED TO VISIT HIS MOTHER'S HOME?
The presence of numerous children in a household naturally complicates custody issues.

Community Continues to Honor Robert Manwill
August 9, 2009
<snipped>
Before the green flag dropped and the cars were speeding around the track, there was a more somber mood at the Meridian Speedway. Racers and fans had a moment of silence to pay tribute to Robert Manwill and his family. Robert's mother and father were both there. Drivers also put green ribbons on their cars. On Robert's uncle Kyle Burrill's car was a poster of the nephew who used to watch him race.

"He loves it, he loves racing," aunt Trish Burrill said about Robert.

But until the community knows exactly who, or what killed Robert, they likely won't be able to put this case behind them.

Neighbors walk 11 laps for Robert

The search for Robert Manwill is over, but the community is still reaching out in full force.

Neighbors Monica Dalton and Heather Fieseler weren't able to join any of the searches for Robert. But they still wanted to do something for the little boy and his family.

The laps represented the 11 days Robert Manwill was missing and was away from his family.

"This is something serious that some people just brush off like it happens every day - but us, it really hurt us," she said.

One stop along the route was the boy's memorial, where volunteers were still cleaning and getting ready to donate Robert's toys to the Ronald McDonald House.

While heading back to Jackons, getting ready to start the fourth lap for Robert, Fieseler says although remembering the little boy is their number one priority, they also want to remind all parents to keep a close on eye on their little ones.

I am wondering if he'll even show up. If he's not there that'll speak volumes imo:mad:

He was NOT at the races last night with MJ. It is rumored that he is hiding out in the hospital as that is a place nobody can touch him.

I am curious to see bf and other's pictures and body language during funeral.........

Quick q on this. If he gets a pass from hospital to go to funeral, can he be arrested while he's out? Also wondering if LE has guards posted at hospital like they did with Sandra Cantu's killer until his release?

My question is this if anyone knows. In Idaho does the State Attorney have to go to the Grand Jury for a murder indictment?

I dont know a lot about this, but based on another murder case that went to grand jury reticently for indictment its my understanding its up to the prosecutor to make that decision. Recently there was a child who was charged with 1st degree murder for killing his father. The prosecutor said he took it to the grand jury so the public could decide if he should be charged because the prosecutor was having so much outrage over his decision to hold the child to 1st degree murder.

Other then that I have no idea how any of that works

I suspect they are watching the hospital pretty close. Like I said its only a stones throw away from the jail.

That is a very good question about getting a pass from the hospital. I dont know if they do that, but I would suspect he wont take any chances if that is the real reason he is hanging out at the hospital. The crazy thing is he cant hide there forever.

I do know that an old client of mine was in the hospital out of town. As soon as she got off the bus back in town they were waiting there to arrest her. Im sure even if the hospital doesnt notify them of release they will stay on top of things.

He can run but he can't hide. I think his free days are numbered. I hope the arrest comes soon like tomorrow.
Thanks Idaho for keeping us informed. You are appreciated:blowkiss:

I will be at the funeral today. I would almost guarantee he wont be there.

I have thought about MJ a little more since meeting her last night. The one thing I have noticed is her facial expressions have always remained the same. Not sure if that means anything or not, but it doesnt seem she is going from one thing to another. The other thing I was thinking is if I would out there was a possibility my boyfriend killed my child I would probably have some look of scared, upset, worried, shocked, shocked, sad, numb and so on. Its bad enough to find our your child is missing, but to suspect a loved one had anything to do with it has got to be like having two knives stabbed through your heart.

I still cant help but think he hid that body somewhere. The question I have is did he at any time after she was home from work leave somewhere alone. At first I was thinking that maybe after she went to sleep when the police were gone he would have taken the body somewhere. Thinking about it now I wouldnt have been able to go to sleep that night. Even if I did nod off sitting on the sofa I would have only lightly nodded for a few minutes here and there.

Unless.....it was the bf who convinced her that he probably took off and went and spent the night somewhere. Giving her that false sense of thinking he was at a friends house and he will be home tomorrow. If she really did believe that Robert was probably somewhere and the bf wasnt exactly sure where then she may have somewhat been relaxed and just thinking the bf did a poor job at getting the friend details.

Did anyone besides me notice that the articles said bloodhounds but the pictures were not of bloodhounds? :waitasec: That is fairly common. I think some media people assume all SAR dogs are bloodhounds when in fact dogs of many different breeds with the right traits and instincts can be successfully trained in scent work.

Thanks for the welcome!

Thanks for the welcome!

There was a demo clip of the dog maddie that was brought in from team Adam. In the clip the handler was showing how Maddie worked and did refer to her as a bloodhound. Personally I wouldnt know what kind of dogs were normally used.

Idaho I just can't see that the BF would have anytime after the fact the call was put in about Robert to take the body anywhere. The police would be everywhere and for sure watching the home and them. Depending on what happened to Robert BF could have time to clen up and dispose of Robert within the max 2 hr time frame before mom got home. Robert was found 14 miles away from the apartment and only a couple of miles from Wallis's home.
I just don't know how he could get from point A to point B and back to point A with out having help.
