When this case first came to my attention on here very early in the process it seemed like a simple car jacking or armed robbery by a cold person who didn't care if he took a life over whatever was in Katrina's wallet. I don't feel that anymore. Based on neighbors statements the impression I get was that the car was parked normally not just out of place on the road. Also her personal effects spread all over town isn't something a carjacker does. If there was stranger DNA in the car they would have found it by now. This seems like more of a "professional" job or at least something that wasn't a spur of the moment crime.

ughhh that just put a really bad thought in my head. i dunno how detailed into my thought i can get on here... but it has to do with murder for hire. maybe Katrina was asked to go back out and pick something up that she "forgot"? thinking out loud here. this just struck me as a possibility.

Has anyone posted this? It's the info on the fire he caused via an insurance suit that stemmed from the claim on the damage to the house:

http://il.findacase.com/research/wfrmDocViewer.aspx/xq/fac.19890519_0000767.IL.htm/qx

His statement about running away from home and then going back, leading to him causing the fire:

"Things were ok for a couple of days but things went back to the same old routeen [ sic ], nagging and yelling at me. I tried everything that I could so I thought I would try my scare tacktic [ sic ] or whatever you want to call it."

The remainder of Todd's statement describes the formulation and implementation of his plan to scare his mother by removing the plug from the gas line in the basement.

:what: wow

Heartland Communtiy Church, it's a HUGE church in Rockford. I don't know if Todd attended or not, no one seems to be mentioning him in any post.

I'd also like to touch on the burning the home down as a teen topic: Todd had a different last name then, I am confused as to why the name change. (Can I post what it was?) He unscrewed a gas pipe and hours later the house exploded, his brother was sleeping upstairs & escaped unharmed. He was having issues with his parents at the time. I can recall that case so vividly, it was in the late 80's or early 90's....

Wow, that's horrible. Do you remember what kind of charges he faced, and what he served?

well, I wonder if there are some other areas ... like Rockport that should be searched.
Seems like Katrina's items are strategically placed here ... that's not the norm. Things are typically not scattered.
Was the wallet placed in its location with the hopes her credit cards would be used perhaps?
I don't like this whole situation one dang bit. Something is very wrong here ...

Wow really? The parents sued to have the insurance company pay for the house?

Might as well post the article since it's got the details and his other name...

In 1985 Todd Smith, who used to go by the name Todd Raprager was convicted of arson. Court records show he set fire to the house with his parents and brother in it. The home was destroyed. No one was hurt in the fire.

Todd Smith who was 17 at the time was sentenced to 30 months probation and required to get a voluntary drug evaluation.

What the...????? :doh::confused:

This entire thing sounds so hinky. Some parts of this case reminds me of Whitney Heichel. I am not convinced it was the hubs or a murder for hire type deal. It could possibly very well be a stalker situation. Maybe someone who wasn't too happy with her going back and forth to her place and her hubs place. I agree with whoever said this month has been FULL of cases where the spouses truly had nothing to do with the murder. I know they say that stranger to stranger abductions are rare, but man, this month that statement has never been more false! With the exception of Whitney of course. When is this crap going to end???

can we talk for a second about how much time there was from the time that she was last seen (confirmed - by someone other than the husband) and the time she was reported missing? just trying to think of exactly how much time someone would have to take care of "clean-up" and even possibly disposing of her body if she has been murdered. sounds like there could have been a huge chunk of time that this could have been done in.

Just saw the interview with him. It's a hard read honestly, especially knowing what I do about his past already. So the wallet was found in Rockford...Wonder if Hubs has been in the area the whole time?

Last seen by others at 7:00 shopping I believe. Last seen by husband at 9:00 before running off to do an errand. Reported missing the next day at some point. Not sure exactly when. We do know that neighbors saw her car Tuesday afternoon in the location without her around. She never came back to the car apparently. The friends saw it before they knew she was missing.
