I have somewhat a sense of relief, but the thought of the both mother's, siblings, classmates, community ... I'm just dumbfounded. This man went around pretending to worry and search with the families ... and then to pretend to find their little bodies. OMG, this is sickening.

I imagine many around there have a sense of relief in that there isn't a predator running loose. I just don't get how he could do such a thing. What makes people think it's OK to take another's life like that?

omg...didn't some wittness say they saw someone over in that area of the park last night they thought the people there were searching??? maybe it was whoever killed them?

I believe that was the initial report. I think the person going through the area found one of the bikes, not the children.

See now the latest thing I read, about the grandfather, was that upon them finding the bike, he called the police while the father went down the ravine. Then father found the bodies. Interesting that he knew just where to look. He must have been out of the house doing this, what does the mother say about all this? She had to have suspected his absence.

Many reports did say a jogger, or passer-by found them. It's weird. What's the delay with the court appearance too?

Seeker: I read something that said a jogger found them. But it was the grandfather and his son-in-law, Jerry Hobbs, who found the bodies. Hobbs must be the father of one of the girls:

Grandfather Describes Finding Slain Girls
ZION, Ill. - Arthur Hollabaugh says he had searched through the night for his missing granddaughter when he and his son-in-law spotted something in bushes part way down a ravine: a child's bicycle.

Minutes later, he said Tuesday, his son-in-law, Jerry Hobbs, was screaming that he had found the bodies of his 8-year-old daughter, Laura Hobbs, and her best friend, Krystal Tobias, who disappeared together on a Mother's Day bike ride.

"I went and I seen them from a distance," Hollabaugh, 51, told The Associated Press. "It was clear they were laying there."

There were 2 bikes, and maybe they were in different spots? I don't know

As for the delay, LE says paperwork.

Seeker, The dad did it.
I think he's the prime suspect, but haven't heard he's confessed to it...

I'm going to take a wait and see approach on this.

Thanks everyone for the updates. I just got online during lunch and hadn't heard anything since last night.

God that is awful! :( Heartbreaking! WHY?????

That will be the million dollar question. I heard on FOX that he was pissed that he blamed the mother for him going to jail the last time, and he wanted to get back at her.

I repeat, how did this guy get back in the home after chasing people around with a chainsaw, for God's sake?!

There had to be some anger at the mother, due in part to him being arrested and jailed before. She probably loved that little girl and he viewed the child as a threat, maybe even as a burden to him and the mother having a good relationship (not true of course but in his sick mind.) He comes back after being in jail and sees where now he has to compete for the affections of his wife, or girlfriend, (were they married?) with the little girl. She probably doesn't respect or obey him which makes it even worse. Fights occur and then she's late coming home.
If I were that poor girl's mother, in that situation, unless I was forced to work to sustain the family, I would not be coming home late. And if I were that girl's mother, my 15 year old son would be well instructed. Why, in the world would you let such an unbalanced, aggresive, horrid person back into your home?

anyone who chases someone around with any kind of weapon has something wrong with them mentally. He should've been in the mental ward in a straight jacket....

It's a date ... hmmm maybe a box crusher would be more effective ...

Those poor babies . . . I can't get past the whole Mother's Day connection.
Anything that would make it very slow and agonizingly painful. :( The Mother's Day thing has me in tears. I cannot imagine how anyone in the family can ever see that as a day to celebrate ever again.

I have such a terrible time getting "past" crimes against children. I do not know how police contain themselves so strongly that they don't rip these guys to pieces.

Where's a pic of the dad?

Can't find one and texas won't let you search their criminal data base without creditials of LE. I think that is just what keeps these creeps going! It is public info and we have a right to view it. In the old days if you did something against our laws, you were head locked in the city square for all to see.
