I'm not certain I think a gun was used, or that the perp would walk out with a rifle jammed down his pants leg. I just watched a case where a man came into a house, tied two girls up and when her sister returned tied her up, using a knife. For all we know he could have approached them and said I need help carrying/catching this deer fawn I found without his mother, etc. even smart people fall prey to these sorts of traps.

I do find it odd we got a pic of abby walking across the bridge but not libby. I would think if one did it the other would want a pic to. Just seems strange to me, like someone else was handling the phone.

Random reminder everyone.

So all of you sleuthers who have been staring at the suspects photo...I have a question.

Is it at all possible that what he is wearing is not a blue cloth jacket but a worn black leather jacket that due to the sun hitting it and distortion, it looks blue?

It probably isn't but thought I'd throw it out there.

Good thinking out of the box...I do think it's nylon though, like a windbreaker, jmo.

Eta: sigh now my eyes is seeing differently. Gah. I am so done with this picture, but it's all we have...gotta stick it out...

I wish this guy had a cell/mobile phone on him at the time it would make the police work easier. He maybe doesn't look like the kind of guy to carry a phone.

I just can't seem to find ANY hunting pants that are brown on top and denim on leg though. I googled forever. I've gone back and forth from brown tee shirt, to hoodie, to apron, to fanny pack, to shirt tails. Shirt tails fit best because it's the only way I can account for his hand bring in his pocket the way it is. I don't think it's blood stains at all. I'm still looking for hunting pants configured this way. If you find, can you post? This detail has driven me nuts.

I go back and forth between button up work shirt sticking out and some kind of denim/brown fabric crossover pants. It depends on the day LOL

The image disturbs me because that dude reminds me of my own Dad, who is nowhere near Indiana, and I keep thinking of things he'd wear: Comfy jacket over a work type shirt and jeans, comfortable shoes or hiking boots. He walks like that too. It's a challenge for me haha.

So, was DNA collected in the Lyric and Elizabeth case? If so, then very soon they will be able to put that theory to rest, or not.

No one except LE has the answer to that question. The information has not been released. The girls were kidnapped on 13 July 2012 in Evansdale IA and their remains were not found until 5 December 2012 in Seven Bridges Wildlife Center, 25 miles from Evansdale. I tend to think there was no DNA due to the passage of time. There has been speculation that actual bodies were found at Seven Bridges, mostly due to a comment made by a reporter at the time. Due to the amount of time it took LE to say Michael Klunder was not suspected in Lizzy and Lyric's murders, I believe that if LE had DNA, Klunder could have been eliminated rather quickly. As it happened, it took LE a year to state

“We believe he (Klunder) was over near his home on the 13th of July, either at home or at work or traveling in between,” Smock said.

Maybe a burner or old one since they haven't traced him. They would have checked all the pings in the area...

The hitchiker/drifter part doesn't wash with me. Too clean, the guy planned this well ahead of time

Pisses me off some that he's out there, getting his rocks off about this.

A hitchiker, drifter, etc., would not know the park. This guy has spent some time there. I'm hoping someone recognizes him as a fisherman they came across there, something along those lines.

Edit:

This thread is getting lots of attention.

My brother has a pair of Uplands with Brown & Denim so I called him last night to see where he bought them, and he said it was at the LLbean Outlet in Freehold Maine. That Outlet has been closed for at least 25 years, so based on that, I think its highly unlikely that this guy is wearing Upland Pants, IMO the brown we are seeing is actually the bottom of a Brown Hoodie hanging below the Blue Jacket.

Ok, a week later LE has decided maybe he's a hitchhiker...many have pontificated he's homeless..IMOO this grainy, much gone over picture, shows neither! There is no backpack on the guy...LE has now mentioned it, as being TOSSED somewhere, and already folks are seeing the backpack...same as a purported gun....I can see dolphins in the clouds. sigh....

WHY Is LE just now asking surrounding communities? This should have been done from the time they released the photo....along with further pertinent info... not played it this way..

It was stated...the searcher followed a set of footprints....well to IMOO, that is one person, not three, nor is it one person carrying TWO girls at once...

You know what else is odd. Look at the man's photo where is knee is crazy and look at abbys last photo. Is it me or is the reaction similar between the two. Maybe same spot on the bridge.

Here is inital press conference when the bodies were found. When reporter asks LE should community be afraid based on what they've seen LE responds, "People should draw their own conclusions".
Statements like this lead me in a very different scenario than local and/or random pervert killer

https://youtu.be/70zUmP9NFRY

I've never heard police say something so convoluted and indirect in response to the question of whether or not others are at risk.

I hate that there is no action on this case and the recent comments from police are so disheartening.
My gut instinct says the guy is not a drifter or homeless. I found him altogether too clean, almost tidy - not living rough. Most homeless people focus on city centers especially in the winter months where there is support, food supplies etc.

I guess a hitchhiker is possible but I think the answer is more likely that he entered/exited the trail area from a different point. He also could have shed his hat and blue coat after the crime and became a totally different-looking guy.

That's probably exactly what he did, that's why he appears to be so overdressed on a fairly mild day. As soon as he assaulted and killed these two girls, he peeled off a couple layers of outwear and altered his entire appearance. I think he left at least one article of clothing behind at the crime scene though, that's why LE is so adamant that he is a suspect...........at least now they are anyway.

Same. He looks so much like my FIL who lives 1000 miles away. He's 75 and would absolutely dress like this guy in this kind of weather. My fear is there's nothing unique about the pics of this POI that would make him easier to identify. He could be just about anyone.

Dumpsters and trash cans in the area...all of those would have been searched...so maybe dumped along the side of road or buried, but LE hasn't found it yet, or hung on a tree or hidden in a bush...

This is going to be a looooing weeeeek...
I would be checking any abandoned or foreclosed homes or barns/trailers/homes on farms where someone is known to be out of town for an extended period such as snow birds or those that might go to baseball spring training in Florida or Arizona. If someone hasn't checked on those homes recently they probably should do so yesterday.

They spent almost 3 hours at the house they have already searched and they probably were looking for a back pack. I doubt a backpack was taken as a trophy. As someone else posted about another case where a killer had taken a backpack and dropped it away from the crime scene as some sort of red herring diversion. But it also could be the case that if the backpack was not found with the girls then the girls could have been killed elsewhere and dumped where they were found and the backpack could be found where they were killed (along with other evidence).

I have seen the outline of the gun plain as day from the start, jmo, not saying I'm right, just sayin...
