Do you think the girls' families know the COD or would that have been kept from them so it didn't leak out to the public?

If a gun was used, surely someone would have reported gunshots and the word would have leaked out by now.

Thats a good point as I dont recall any witnesses mentioning hearing gunshots. But what if the witness that saw him had just gotten there after he was all done firing shots. Isnt it possible he used a gun and the witness was maybe not out of their car yet and didnt hear it?

I do know that in wooded areas like that the people living in the their homes may not always hear shots. We live in a place where people are shooting all the time and unless I am outside i seldom hear shots.

Hitchhiking is a crime in itself. You never see anyone hitchhiking anymore because the law will write them a ticket on the spot. The perpetrator would have either taken a bus or had his own vehicle.

Even though it's illegal, many do it every single day without issues.

yep I think most of us knew that DG came to pick them up and made calls from when it was briefly allowed to be discussed. Now it has been stated in MSM it is fact.
I don't really understand them still asking for tips. They have stated they have hundreds of POI's that they cannot rule out so why do they need more? Are they hoping for more tips on those POI's they already have or do they believe they don't yet have the right person? They did say they couldn't talk about any POI's so I am wondering why. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? To me it's almost as if they are waiting for a specific tip on a specific person to be called in - like they suspect who did it but still need that tip to seal it.

IMO - Doug Carter (ISP) appeared visibly upset when talking about these murders.

Especially when questioned about how they were killed.

I heard someone say we're just waiting for the one piece of info from LEOs that tips the scales about whether or not to call in a tip, something still vague, but descriptive enough - if he's left handed, if he smoked Newports, if there was a trail of sunflower seeds leading away...

I think that would be advantageous.

This may sound like an odd question and maybe it's been answered, but did they mention what kind of footwear the UNSUB was wearing like tennis shoes, hiking boots, military boots ect.. And if they are a hiking boot, what quality and brand they might be?

I feel like this too is a great question, as it can also help us figure out how well he can navigate the terrain as well. I can hike way better in boots, but I can run faster in sneakers.

Another thing I took away is Abby was not dressed to meet anyone, and was wearing one of her mother’s old shirts and Libby’s jacket.

That's not what they said. They said they had talked to other kids that were on the trails that day, but Abby and Libby were there in a lull (meaning NOT a lot of other people around).

I really hope they get useful information from the show today. I am concerned about law enforcement’s ability to maintain the public’s interest the longer time passes with no significant developments.

I have to wonder if one of them came out of their shoes maybe trying to make a last ditch run for it. Maybe the searcher found a shoe first which posed the question. Then he may have just looked a little further to spot both girls bodies.

I do know from experience when trying to run really really fast and especially in either shallow water or mud that your shoes come off easily.

I'm with you Hatfield. I think the searcher found the shoe first, and inquired about it to see if it could belong to one of the girls, and then came across the bodies a bit further along. It makes the question make sense to me.

The reason I questioned this is because Carter looked a bit more upset than the families. JMO. I'm certainly not saying that the families aren't upset!
