oh no. I didn't think I had a shred of hope...but then I guess I did the way my heart fell upon reading about the landfill.

Mine too. That poor soul. By all accounts, gentle and loving and some monster did god knows what with her. There's a special place in hell for whoever did this.

It isn't cheap or easy to search a landfill....they must have a pretty credible lead. And even more so, it seems, if this is not the closest landfill to her home or the one used for that area.

It was stated that the federal warrant was because of possible jurisdiction issues. Looks like they went to the highest possible office so if evidence is found, there's no way it can be tossed out later in a court case because of a technicality.

As soon as he said this, I was thinking "Henderson KY". Also, Doesn't James Wilson work at some sort of trash sorting business? I wonder if he worked at the landfill.....

Oy, this is bad, real bad. I was praying for a miracle, but I now know this is going to end in the worst way possible for Aleah.

Thank you everyone for getting the info here!

Any word or photos from the family upon this news?

Advanced Disposal (owner of Blackfoot Landfill according to this page) collects for Bridgeport, IL; Henderson, KY; Milltown, IN; New Harmony IN; and Newburgh, IN - according to this page. So maybe Aleah actually was in Henderson.

I've been praying maybe a relative concerned for her well being took her. Kept her safe. Kept her alive. It's looking like it's not meant to be.

EPD searching Pike Co. landfill in connection with Aleah Beckerle case

http://www.14news.com/story/3319040...ndfill-in-connection-with-aleah-beckerle-case

According to the updated (4:40 pm EDT) article:

"Sgt. Jason Cullum with EPD wouldn't tell us the cost associated with a search of this magnitude, but he said the FBI is footing the bill. Police have known about the possibility of the search for several weeks."

"The landfill's coverage area extends into Evansville and Henderson."

BBM.

Perhaps LE have known about the tip or have had supporting evidence for some time now but were hoping for someone to talk, which might have been less costly, IMO. Also, I think a search of this magnitude would require a lot of coordination between various agencies ("The FBI evidence response team is composed of supervisory special agents, forensic canine consultants, forensic operations specialists, logistics management specialists, and management and program analysts"), so maybe it has taken them this long to get everyone out to the site. In any case, it sounds like the search is being conducted based on a very solid lead.

I've never followed a case that has received FBI help before, anyone know if it's normal for them to foot the bill on a case like this? Or is it possible there's way more to this case than meets the eye? I have a pit in my stomach even thinking this but is it possible Aleah was trafficked?

I don't see how in the world that would be feasible, given the extent of her disabilities.

FBI has been involved in more missing person cases than in the past. It isn't too unusual to see the local LE has called in the FBI for assistance. Many LE depts don't have the funding for what the FBI can do. Sadly searchers are often stopped because the locality doesn't have the funding to keep going. FBI is great in helping in missing person cases!!!

Aleah.....not far from my thoughts. I pray they can find you and prosecute those responsible. We know you didn't leave on your own. Someone removed you.....may justice be soon!!

* Graphic *

IF Aleah's in a landfill, fgs -- that means someone put her in a garbage bag(s) and into a trash container ... correct ?

It's doubtful some transported her --alive or deceased -- and buried her there with no one noticing.

For normal, moral, decent people, it's hard to grasp. The fact is though, there is a "market" for all sorts of deviant things. Although I don't think that's what happened in Aleah's case.

I'd assume the FBI would be involved since there's the potential for this case to stretch across state lines.

This news reminds me of the rumors about the trash bag in photos :tantrum:

I sure wish we could get a report on how this search is going, though from past searches of landfills if I recall right, it can take days ..... How does one maintain patience when sitting on pins and needles waiting? Wonder what the family is feeling right now .... are they there, are they giggling and laughing, are they crying and anxious. Are strangers more deeply entrenched in bringing Aleah "home"?

I may have missed it if it was mentioned before but does anyone know if they brought in any K9's to track her?

It crosses state lines.
