Out of curiosity, I googled to find instances where IMPD did release surveillance images. Seems they do it routinely. In this case, I can only surmise that there is a good reason why they are taking their time. I keep going back to what the Chief said about the need to be sure, and that it's not what you know, but what you can prove.

Maybe there are some discrepancies between the eyewitness descriptions and the surveillance images. That could account for the wide variance in height. That's just a hunch. It does seem that false identification is a concern. JMO

I'd say this perp worked out at the gym with Davey and knew his schedule, plus he was quite open about the temptation in that environment in the Q/A session. And he's right - it can go both ways with temptation/obsession. This person either worked at Target, shopped there because it was by the gym, or knew a person who did who would do his/her bidding for $$ (like Kendra). In Kendra's case, BD wanted Kendra's license. The slight build of the person in the hoodie could allude to the perp being a female as well.

So why steal televisions and laptops from a different house first, thereby putting him/herself at risk of being waylaid before s/he could carry out the intended mission?

To make it seem like a random burglary gone bad. Some newbie and/or dumb person. I also think it's a woman or related to a woman.

Why Target?

Here's a couple Faux Suede hoodies with fleece hoods. The first camel colored one is Levi's brand (from Kohls) and it's a Faux suede with an attached fleece hood.

I'll have to dig through the thread, but I think I recall that the two properties shared a fence/property line. The former burgled residence was unoccupied at the time, again, IIRC. Might have been a spur of the moment decision by whomever was with the perp? I wonder if that residence had pets and/or knew the Blackburn family. Perhaps Amanda was caring for their animals and word got out that way. The timing of the two crimes/murder are just so strange. It doesn't seem like a typical burglary to me.

Statistically, most burglars hit between 10a-3p when they think people are least likely to be home. I think the next most common window is in the middle of the night when people would be asleep. Also, they RARELY hit homes on the same street at the same time, usually going back at another date to hit neighboring homes. They are usually in and out in 8-12 minutes so the hanging around part IS odd.
Do you have information to support that? I can recall off the top of my head many instances over the years where mutiple homes in the same neighborhood were hit at the same time.

I do agree with you about the time. Historically, that was the case. But as we've seen in recent years, there is no "norm".

Why Target?

I was comparing it to a previous case, Sal and Giannie, where the perp had tan pants on. We had all speculated whether the person worked at a Target because your typical "th*g" isn't going to be walking around in tan/khaki pants while trying to commit a crime.

8:00 A.M., Metairie, LA, Oct 2015 -- A woman opened her door to three guys who claimed to be repairmen -- one was carrying a chainsaw! She called her son at work to ask if he was expecting them. Son said no, he hadn't hired any repairmen. The men forced their way into the house, beat the woman, and demanded money from her and another occupant. Someone, probably a neighbor, DID call 911. When LE arrived, one of the perps told the cop he lived in the house, and that his mother had been injured in a fight. :thud:

There's no rhyme or reason to these crimes. Daytime, nighttime, single victim at home alone, families with kids, lone perp, multiple perps -- it makes no difference. None at all. And if you read these articles, you'll see that in many of them, residents comment that violent crime was previously unheard of in their neighborhoods. You'll also notice that in most of these crimes, rather than a violent, surprise intrusion, the perpetrators used a ruse to make their entry.

As a lifeling resident of New Orleans, I'm sad to say that it seems like a very typical burglary to me.

Like New Orleans, Indy has experienced a major uptick in crime in recent years. The problems we face here are similar to what is happening in Indy. Maybe that's why my views differ from some of yours. IDK.

Investigators say it could be the same burglar who broke into the Blackburns' neighbor's house two doors down the same morning. Detectives are checking nearby pawn shops for a stolen laptop and three televisions, including a 50-inch flat screen.

I still have my 27" tube tv from 1999; can one person carry a 50" flat screen?

Eta: and wouldn't that be highly visible? A person you don't know, loading a big tv into a SUV you don't recognize at 5:30-6:30am?

I believe they have more than video.
Maybe there is no need to release any video.

'To the individual who committed this crime: You are not as good as you think you are,' Eric Hench said at the press conference on Friday. 'We will find you.'
Hench, who called the crime 'heinous', noted that evidence was left behind at the scene of the crime.

"You are not as good as you think you are. You did not get away clean and free. You did leave evidence behind and we will find you," promised ?Eric Hench, IMPD Assistant Commander.

I also believe it is possible that the suspect in the video footage may be a minor also. LE will go to great lengths to protect the identity of a minor until a court rules they may be tried as an adult.

In the Lees Summit murder committed this last week the media got hold of video footage of the 13-14 year old kids that did it from a retail store. LE is not too happy about it. It could take a couple months for the Courts to decide to try them as adults. In that case the lady was just at a car wash at the vacuum station.

Yes. I still believe that they have material evidence or DNA they are waiting for forensics on, but have the perp under surveillance. Hence, no need to further get "public opinion."

I think that is very possible.
Based on video evidence and evidence left at the scene (according to LE), I would believe it is someone who is not incredibly "seasoned".
May not be their first robbery but he/she/they are not pros

The thing that is difficult for me to understand is the gun.
If you are attempting to rob empty homes, do you usually arm yourself?
I understand a bank robbery or even a convenience store, you know you will be confronted.
