I can't remember much now about this case. Was there a reason why he didn't attend the service? That would be strange to me as well. However, it seemed pretty genuine that the husband had been eliminated as a suspect long ago.

The investigation's focus is still broad, with police following leads from nearly 100 tips. On Tuesday, they spent hours going over evidence at the State Police crime lab - evidence they say will lead to the killer.

"I think it very well could be. It's gonna require the analysis to know exactly what we have and to know exactly its pertinence to the investigation, but yes, certainly, we have an overwhelming amount of evidence," said Borges.
The above post was from August 1, 2006. Was the evidence not as great as they had originally thought? They seemed pretty certain that the evidence was going to lead to the killer. One thing's seems certain - if they really did gather an "overwhelming amount of evidence", the fact that the husband/father still hasn't been arrested must surely mean that it wasn't him. With that much evidence, surely they'd have SOMETHING to connect him if it was him?

Sorry I was half paying attention, but as soon as I heard that I started listening and it was over so quick....Sorry

Going through some old posts. This is weird to me too. Isn't there usually one cause listed as cause of death?

The above is from August 11, 2006. So what's been going on for the past year?

Okay, here is what I could find on this thread about the father not attending something for Blake. I can't find any article to confirm it however:

An other twist to this case is the father did not attend the vigil for his son. However, about 2-3 weeks later the father and his exwife took a trip to Tennessee and on to North Carolina where they lived at the time they were married. How soon we forget and move on. This case is going to be interesting. May take a long time to find out the truth.

Cops: Burglary may yield clues in Franklin killings | IndyStar.com

... "We are releasing this information now because some of the things of interest to us would not surface immediately," Police Chief John Borges said in a statement. "We have reason to believe that there may be an individual(s) who have information pertinent to this investigation, that for unknown reasons, have yet to come forward..."
Maybe since the anniversary is here, they'll release more information. I really hope that the family of these two get the justice they deserve.

Oh, you mean the anniversary vigil. Hmmmm. Maybe he went away to spend the anniversary in solitude? I imagine it's a horrible, horrible time for him.

I just looked back and the other vigil that was mentioned was in a post from November 14, 2006. So apparently, this is at least the 2nd vigil that the father didn't attend. Maybe he just can't handle it?

WISH-TV: News and Weather for Indianapolis, IN - Hundreds Turn Out to Remember Franklin Murder Victims

"I still hear him laughing. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think of him. He was a wonderful kid," Blake's mother Christina Dickus said...

During Tuesday night's vigil kids were asked to blow whistles, a reminder to the community that police still need help to track down the murder or murders.

To spread the word balloons were released into the air. Attached were two pictures and the question, "Who killed Chynna and Blake?"

Franklin Murder Mystery - News - MSNBC.com

Sean Dickus shares his former wife's pain, though the Marine veteran keeps his emotions more private.

"It's all very trying on me. It's definitely bringing me to the edge," Sean said...

But one year later, despite a wealth of evidence, help from the FBI, and two Franklin detectives dedicated to the investigation, the case remains unsolved...

Police have ruled out potential suspects. They cleared Sean Dickus, but they've stayed silent about any clues to the crime.

Someone burglarized a home down the street that same July day. Investigators won't say if it's clearly connected to Chynna and Blake's death.

"We actually know a lot more than what you know. The integrity of keeping that to ourselves is critical we believe to solving this case and we wouldn't want to do anything to jeopardize that," Borges said.

Still, Chief Borges is confident the will solve the crime.

"We believe fully there is somebody out there who knows what happened July 24, 2006 inside that residence, and we're not going to stop until we find them."

A year after his wife's death, Sean Dickus still wears his wedding ring.

He still lives in the home, where he experienced the best and worst of life.

"I feel comfort here and I feel safe here and it seems to wrap its arms around me," Sean said...

I know it says that they're looking at a possible connection between the murders and the burglary, but I really think they're wanting to talk to the person who did the robbery to see what time they were there and if they saw any person or cars at the Dickus residence. I think that's what they're alluding to when they say that they believe there is someone out there who knows something but hasn't come forward for various reasons, the main one being that they would be incriminating themselves in the burglary.:twocents:

I think that that's a great theory but the police statement says "for unknown reasons" has not come forward. IMO, if the LE was referring to this thief, the reasons would be obvious. The wording of that statement nags at me. It sounds more to me like someone that knows or is close to the family - someone that you would expect would be more than willing to come forward with what they know. The thief could be afraid of being arrested and therefore understandably doesn't come forward but why would a parent or a sibling or a best friend not come forward if they knew something?

Prayers, tears and a boy's laughter | IndyStar.com

... Three hundred balloons and 112 butterflies were released into the sky as symbols of remembrance during the ceremony. Children sounded whistles to "blow the whistle on the bad guy." Relatives of Chynna and Blake Dickus dotted the crowd wearing T-shirts that asked: Who killed Chynna and Blake Dickus?

The answer, many hope, will come soon...
