I won't say "never", but DH and I have absolutely no desire to get on a cruise ship anytime soon.
>>> snipped to save space <<<
I've already told DH that I would be very happy with an extended stay on Mackinac Island for our 50th anniversary.
50th Anniversary!! Wonderful!! You GO, girl, and so does your DH!!
I just had to say it. :D
Our 45th is in August.

Re the case -- I just don't see P.R. giving him jail time -- I'm thinking they don't want to "stir up" anything between our countries, i.e. plain ol' politics. JMHO and SMH

Cruise lines to suspend trips from U.S. until mid-September

June 19, 2020

Major cruise lines agreed to suspend voyages from U.S. ports until Sept. 15, marking another setback for an industry trying to rebound from the coronavirus pandemic. [..]

The CDC’s no-sail order is set to expire on July 24, and speculation had mounted that some voyages would begin as soon as August. With the extended suspension, the world’s biggest cruise lines will now be going at least six months without U.S. customers. Earlier this week, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings extended its pause on global cruising through the end of September.

The latest “voluntary suspension” affects all CLIA member vessels with capacity of 250 or more people. The group’s members include industry giants Carnival Corp. and Royal Caribbean Cruises, as well as most of the rest of the industry.

I haven't checked this thread in a while, but I'm glad I did so that I could thank you for your kind thoughts :) Our 49th anniversary is Thursday, and we have hair appointments, manicures/pedicures, and will have dinner out for the first time since Valentine's Day. We're not considering any travel for the foreseeable future - and probably no cruises ever again. Not even sure we want to fly any more. Congratulations to you and your DH on your 45th!

Re: the case. I hope RCCL doesn't ever have to pay Chloe's family for Grandpa's stupidity.

Puerto Rico is a United States territory with 3.2 million US Citizens. There is really no “stirring up” anything because they are the same country.

I haven't checked in here for some time either. Being in the travel business, it's been a bit dismal since I got off of my last cruise on March 8th. I truly hope they resume soon! If they don't, we could see an entire industry go bust. I have cruises scheduled for February and March. I just pray I get to take them. Without a cruise or two on the books, or life gets depressing. I do wish we'd get some closure to this case, and just hope this family does not get a single dime.

If memory serves, today is the day of Sam Anello’s gearing before the judge in PR. I’m assuming if this is still the case, the hearing will be conducted virtually and we should hear something later today.
Last we heard here from LV, yes it should be today. Unless it’s since been changed.

There was a widespread series of power outages yesterday, including San Juan so courts may be disrupted. I haven't seen anything in msm yet. At this point SA is off the hook in terms of any proper punishment IMO. I'd love to know how the lawsuit is going though.

People who love to cruise, love to cruise. I was watching CNBC the other day and RCCL CEO was saying bookings are up. Other talking heads were like "up from what? Zero?" So stock brokers aren't putting too much into what the CEO was saying, but it appears that people want to get back on the ship.

Look at all the people who still went on cruises up to the very end before they shut them down?

Yep. I disembarked March 8th, came home on the 12th, and cannot WAIT to get back on a ship ASAP. I actually think I had the virus when I got home from FL this last time.
