A very easy way to avoid cell phone pings would be to leave the cell phone at home. The only way it is going to show if the person was moving if the person had the cell phone with them. When I was in B-town my car needed to be serviced. To pick it up -- I had to walk from the search headquarters on College Ave to the service station across from Yogi's. Maybe I'm getting old and it was a hot day, but it was pretty grueling, wishing I had taken a cab. Doing this barefoot and intoxicated would have been tougher. Just don't see this heading to JW's scenario, but who knows?

It wouldn't be as hot at 4:30 am in the morning although certainly would be very difficult without shoes. But people who are intoxicated do not exactly always show rational behavior.

Well if the roommate is to be believed, it certainly does not appear LS was staying with the boyfriend during that particular time. The roommate claimed the boyfriend was supposed to come to Smallwood but didn't because he couldn't get in contact with LS.

I do not recall reading that JW was planning to come to Smallwood. I recall this somewhat vague statment from HT from the IndyStar:

"According to Tamir, Spierer's boyfriend, Jesse Wolff, had been planning to get together with her that night. But he couldn't reach her, or she him, because she had left her phone at the bar."

I have walked from close to JW's to Upland Brewing Co. just past 5North on 11th quite a few times. I can say the walk feels faster on the way back after a few pints

In terms of travel choices, I am not sure whether a 20 year old thinks this is far or not. The IU campus is fairly large so the kids are used to walking.

BTW, JW's is closer to campus so I could imagine it would a convenient place for LS to frequently stay during the semester before any morning classes. This would not really matter for the Ivy Tech summer class, but might play into establishing a pattern.

I'm not sure what you mean by "White Knights". I find it a bit strange that JW was trying to connect with LS a good part of the evening and then just went to bed. I am guessing that since he spends a good amount of his time at Smallwood (can find a link), I would think that he heard about the altercation with CR when his girlfriend was with him from others that reside at Smallwood. Of course, I do not have proof of this. Just wondering.

What I find hard to understand is she left smallwood (12:30) which is about the same time JW would have been coming over after the game.It could also have been JW told LS.IF you want me to come over after the game call me which would make everything else easier to understand.

Then don't criticize them, at least yet. cluciano posted a link earlier to remind us that as early as the 10th LE was saying that they had gotten numerous search warrants, searched apartments, and would be getting more. We know they had dogs out already. It seems possible that they do know what they're doing, but that we just aren't aware of all their activities to date. This is the first big search to make it into the news (thanks TG)

IMO LE has done lots of things in support of their investigation that they have not divulged to the public, and I am fine with that. I expect that the investigation is analogous to an anthill - a few ants doing their thing above ground, but an entire SYSTEM of activity unseen below.....again, JMO

I llike your allusion and keeping hopes alive that this case will have some resolution.

Somebody may have already made a reference to the Kristin Smart case, but the LS case has many of the same elements that led to her disappearance.

Around 2 am, she left the party with another student by the name of Paul Flores. Flores claims to have walked Kristin home, however Kristin never made it home."
" Paul Flores and his family have refused to cooperate with police. He'd made a statement with campus police the next morning, stating he'd walked her to her dorm then they went their separate ways."
"Two months later, police searched the dorms with "cadaver" dogs. Those are dogs trained to detect human remains. The dogs led police straight to Flores's dorm room, and to his mattress. However, there was no physical evidence to be found."
The case is still open.

They have quite a few, you are right...and LE has not been able to find a way to bring charges...and she was never found, it has been 15 years...

Exactly. And people say that Tony Flores (the alleged perpetrator) wasn't a brain surgeon either.

I don't think that JR being perceived (as has been said by those who allegedly "know" him) as being "too dumb" to pull this off makes sense at all. I think it's entirely possible he could have done it - or JW, or any of them for that matter. Lots of people who may not be considered to be brilliant get away with criminal activity every day. Cases like the Kristin Smart case prove that on a regular basis.

I didn't see this last night; the photo that appears right now to the right of JW: The person in the red shirt appears to be coming out of JR's unit door.

If you click on that pic, it enlarges-then click again and it advances to the next pic. The next pic states that the man in the black shirt is exiting JR's townhome. If this is accurate, then they did indeed search JR's place yesterday.
