There's been more discussion of the possible drug dealer connection so I want to bump my previous post. Anyone else thinking the way I am?

I've previously posted a near identical thought. Since we see these possibilities independently based on the facts, I think says something.

Don't recall reading or hearing that equipment could be painting tools.

He [Capt JQ] said that in video footage, the truck appears to carry equipment such as painting tools. Private individuals have offered to help analyze the footage in a more detailed way, he said.

I've been trying different effects on the truck photo, and "bas relief" actually does look a little like paint cans, especially #4. Using an old Microsoft program called PhotoDraw. Photo #3 is "bottom" angle, #4 is "top" angle. Both are at 76% transparency, so you see mostly the actual photo. (Sharpened the original photo first and increased contrast a bit.)

New article that doesn't really have any information about the case, but talks about Lauren. Has some info on her relationship with the boyfriend.
By the way the idea that she didn't meet with the boyfriend that night because she lost her cell phone and couldn't contact him doesn't make sense. She lost her cell phone at the bar, which would have been after 1:46 am. That sports game the boyfriend was supposedly watching should have been long over by then.

"She lived on campus her first year with Wallach, who shares Spierer's major. Her friends said she'd spend much of her time in the college library or with her boyfriend, often spending nights with him in an off-campus house he shared with fratmates."

How can they know this is an isolated incident?

How many other IU students are missing right now (or if you fear the worst have been murdered recently)? That is probably what they mean.

A little O/T

Regarding the truck images.

I do a lot of photography with many different types of digital camera's, not professional just for ebay and personal. Lots of my kids and pets. 30-40 thousand images over the last few years alone. I don't have a clue how to use photoshop or other similar programs to enhance.
Things show up especially in moving subjects that aren't there all the time in my experience.

I like to entertain the thought that there could be a person in the back of the truck but I just don't see it. I do see the features you are all talking about but know all too well how when a subject is in motion it can be very distorted.
Now...my next comment is about orbs found in many photo's. They can be explained as dust or moisture or any "spiritual" ghost type explanation from some. I do not believe in Ghosts but boy do I have some amazing photo's that make me a believer! Still my bible teachings just don't include this as possible, grrrr...
Orbs can be found with faces in them. Enlarge, alter or zoom in on them and you will see something. Believers and so called experts can tell the difference between dust and the real thing if you believe that stuff. I can't and don't spend too much time thinking twice about it. If only you could see my ten or so examples of ectoplasm and vortex's they are creepy and amazing-talk about seeing faces and human figures...they make me believe~ until my bible teachings again. Sorry to ramble...
I believe the truck is an optical illusion so to speak. JMO

If you would like to browse without registering I have no problem with opening the forum to do so. Since we are a large group that collaborate there is a lot to sift through and we just are trying to avoid judgment of the bits and pieces of the puzzle before we pull it all together and the process isn't the easiest to watch from the outside and understand.

Thank you!

Very- I must have missed it, so how do you think it fits in?

I thought the same about the phone.I think it is possible some of her comments seam odd is she is just trying to portray her friend in the best light possible. What was she going to say she was suppose to meet up with her boyfriend but went to the bar instead.I think that is the same reason an earlier comment she made that LS left at 12:30 to go to JR to watch the same sports game (which would have been over by then) made no sense. She just did not want to say LS left at 12:30 to go party.

I am also not sure how much of what roommate was saying is actually accurate. I agree the roommate might be trying to portray LS in a best light, and LS relationship with the boyfriend in a best light. If LS intended to meet up with her boyfriend that night, she had plenty of time until her cell phone was lost after 1:46 am. And even after the cell phone was lost, what exactly could have stopped from borrowing somebody's cell phone?

If you put the original photo at a distance, it appears that a female is sitting up with her arm sitting on something. The size of the "face" and the length of the hair.

My 7 year old was sitting next to me last night reading and he looks over to see this photo to ask what I'm looking at.... He says "who is in the back of that truck?" It was just strange. I def don't see a driver, a passenger, or a dog but I do see something "non-reflective" in the back. Sorry I'm stuck on this!

I am wondering if there is anyone on this board that is able to find the arrests that were made in bloomington on the night Lauren went missing. Also, I know there is a way to check the calls that came into the station that night. For example, at 2:30 report of suspicious vehicle or at 1:00 person found such, such?

Didn't bf, JW, graduate this year? Maybe it was time to upgrade or at least seek out a bf who would definitely be on campus this year? Just a thought, though I am usually more of a romantic than that.

I agree there appears to be a female sitting in a bed of a truck. That's what I thought when I saw that photo. But that could be an optical illusion. Maybe what appears to be a female is actually a bunch of paint cans or a lawn mower.

I am not finding any logs of 911 calls or arrest information online at all...some states and counties show you everything, others almost nothing...maybe someone else will have better luck.

Not a big fan of image enhancement. Especially with night-time, low res, pixelated jpg's from a low quality security system.
Besides, there are too many hoaxes with images on the interwebs.

Absolutely do not want to turn the investigation in the wrong direction with a poor analysis of a degraded image, especially on fathers day.

That being said, here are 2 enhancements I did.

Back window, passengers side of truck

So others can recreate this image to verify, below are the instructions to reproduce the image:

I used the images in the links from The Herald Times.
Ran them thru an online image resizer to change it to 1920x1200.
Saved them to my pc and used Micro$oft Office Picture manager to manipulate size, coloring and contrast.
alt+printscreen and copied to MS Paint, so I could crop and put the red box in, except the last one, no red box on it. Saved as jpg.

Lost some definition uploading it to the net. The pic is clearer on my pc.
I am hopeful this is just an image artifact, not what it looks like.

This crop of the image is directly from the Herald Times link, without using the online image resizer. The rest of the above steps were used.

Really though, this makes little sense because the back window is tinted.
Maybe its the reflection of someone standing just out of sight on the sidewalk or entryway for the apartments, or perhaps image artifact?

I was actually trying to enhance the "writing" on the side of the truck when I noticed it.

I am new to this site so I hope I am doing this right!!

I have read all of the threads and I just wanted to bring something up.. LE is very smart and they have a lot of resources, that being said I am sure they have exauhsted all resources to enhance the video of the truck and have a good idea of what is in the bed of the truck and what make and model the truck is.

Also, the timeline of events for LS are "official", meaning that LE has either verified where LS was by video or bye eyewitness account. They would not release an official timeline unless they were 100% sure that it was accurate.

LE knows a lot more than they are releasing to the public... I am betting that they have a pretty good idea of what happened to LS.

Hi, Sorry if this has already come up. This thread is moving so fast.

I think what we are seeing in the photographs is actually just pareidolia. Basically, the human brain sees human faces where they are not.

I hope this link is allowed. WELCOME!!!

I hope you are right that the police have a good idea about what happened to Lauren. I've had questions about just how official the time line is after 2:51. The truck on the video was seen between 4:14 and 4:24, before JR claims to have seen Lauren at 4:30. It is confusing that they haven't been more clear regarding this last alleged sighting.
I'm not sure the BPD has made much progress on this case, but I really hope I'm wrong.

The timeline thins out considerably after 2:51 a.m., when police say they have only witness accounts of her movements -- including the last sighting of her at 4:30 a.m.

It's also possible that they could have had plans to get together and then argued and she didn't want to meet up with him that night. These two were in a long term relationship and things like that happen. Maybe her roommate didn't know about the argument. She may have been blowing off steam by partying and hanging out with these other friends/boys. Just speculation.
