I've been trying to catch up so forgive me if I'm missing something, but I am really confused as to why everyone seems to suspect HT.
I just read the article where she was interviewed about her friendship with Lauren and thought it was really sweet. I truly have no idea how someone could read that and come up with the cruel comments and accusations that I'm reading (primarily in comments there, not here). I can see how people who did not grow up going to summer camps may have misunderstood that last comment, but I don't see anything odd about anything she said or in the fact that she had her photo taken for the article, etc.
My impression is that she is the one person of the friends who has actively come forward to speak about Lauren, and while I'm sure a lot of what she has said has been in response to the media focus on drugs, partying and and various rumors, it doesn't mean her answers aren't sincere. Also, she appears to be the only one with no criminal record, and I haven't seen any indication that she has withheld any information from LE, or that Lauren's parents are talking about her as being one of the "friends" that needs to come forward. The only thing I can tell is that her account of the night may have had a couple of inconsistencies, but since we know that the family was keeping back certain information at the beginning (re. the altercation, for example), we have no idea what she was or was not advised to release to the media, or what she herself pieced together about the night between these statements. If I had to speculate that she was covering up for anything in her early accounts, it seems like she may have been trying to protect Lauren (and/or JW) from the cheating rumors/story by revealing Lauren's involvement with CR that night. (Again, this is to the media - we have no idea what she has told LE or Lauren's parents).
Anyway, if there is other evidence that leads people to believe that was somehow involved, I'm interested in hearing it, but if this is simply based on 'having a feeling' or observations about how she poses in a photo, etc, I'm not sure that warrants making some of the assumptions that have been made. I can't imagine what it would be like to have a friend missing *and* be in the media spotlight under a cloud of suspicion. Under the circumstances, I think it's impressive that she came forward and tried to make us understand Lauren a little better.
