Dr. Juan Cabrera is on the stand now. He was called to the hospital to interview Clint Loehrlein. @14News
Dr. Cabrera was asked to perform a psychiatric consultation on Loehrlein. @14News
Dr. Cabrera says Loehrlein was “disheveled.” Cabrera says Loehrlein had some memories of the events in “flashes.” @14News
Dr. Cabrera says he had to reiterate his questions to Loehrlein but he was able to answer the questions Cabrera asked him. @14News
Loehrlein told Dr. Cabrera he was concerned about owning two homes at the same time. Loehrlein told Cabrera once one house sold his life would get back to normal.
Dr. Cabrera feels Loehrlein had signs of Hyponatremia
signs and symptoms may include:
Nausea and vomiting
Headache
Confusion
Loss of energy, drowsiness and fatigue
Restlessness and irritability
Muscle weakness, spasms or cramps
Seizures
Coma
Dr. Cabrera says hyponatremia can cause memory loss.
Dr. Cabrera says a traumatic event can also cause memory loss.
Dr. Tracy Gunter, psychiatrist on the stand now.
Dr. Tracy Gunter did a competence to stand trial evaluation on Loehrlein.
Psychological testing and EEG testing were requested to be performed over two days by Dr. Gunter. Defense asked for it to be done in one day.
Dr. Gunter felt Loehrlein suffered from a depressive disorder before the incident.
Dr. Gunter feels Loehrlein had symptoms of Dissociative amnesia.
Dr. Gunter didn’t feel Loehrlein was incompetent to stand trial.
Dr. Gunter has spent about 7 hours with Loehrlein over 3 visits in 12 months.
Just finished a short recess. Dr. Gunter is back on the stand. Waiting for jury to come back into courtroom.
Dr. Gunter says Loehrlein talked about a high level of financial distress.
Dr. Gunter reviewed, cell phone records, bank statements and cards, letters that Loehrlein had written. She estimates she’s spent about 75 hours working on this case.
Dr. Gunter says Loehrlein left work early the day before the incident.
“Mr. Loehrlein had some behavioral issues... has some behavioral issues.” Dr. Gunter
Defense to Dr. Gunter “what has he (Loehrlein) told you about this case. Dr. Gunter - He became increasingly concerned about the house. -He was concerned he was going broke. -He was worried he was going to lose his wife and girls.
Loehrlein told Dr. Gunter he wasn’t sleeping well and some nights staying up all night. Dr. Gunter feels Loehrlein was sleep deprived.

Dr. Gunter says Loehrlein looked for an answer or an escape from this.
Dr. Gunter says Loehrlein wanted to be with the lord but not alone. He wanted his family to be with him.

Dr. Gunter says A week before the incident, Loehrlein had awareness they had plenty of money and was comforting his wife. He told her “we will be ok.”
Dr. Gunter says Loehrlein remembers parts of the day of the incident in pieces.
Dr. Gunter believes Loehrlein was trying everything possible to die when he was being taken into custody including banging his head on the wall.
On the day of the incident Dr. Gunter says Loehrlein was tired. His wife told him to stay home from work. He felt he needed to work to provide for his family. He sat in a chair and that’s when he saw the gun.
