Wednesday, February 20th:
*Sentencing (@ 11am ET) - IN - Sherry Loehrlein (52) killed, daughters Nicole & Cynthia (20s) injured (Jan. 23, 2017, Darmstadt) - *Clinton Loehrlein (54) (husband/father) charged with murder, attempted murder, 2 counts of aggravated battery w/firearm (level 3 felony) & resisting LE (Class A Misdemeanor); No bond. Going for insanity defense.
Trial started August 27th, should last 1 week.
8/27/18 Day 1 to 8/31/18 Day 5 Update: Closing arguments from State & Defense. Jury starts deliberations. Verdict Watch! Verdict reached after 2 ½ hours of deliberations. Found GUILTY of murder, 2 counts of attempted murder, 2 counts of aggravated battery & resisting law enforcement.
8/31/18 Update: Sentencing hearing on Oct. 1. Loehrlein also waived his right to a hearing & admitted to three sentence enhancements for using a firearm to commit a felony. That would add 5 to 20 years onto his sentence, according to the Prosecutor's Office. Under Indiana law, a murder conviction carries a sentence up to 65 years. Attempted murder is a level 1 felony which carries a sentence up to 40 years.
10/1/18 Update: Defense files Motion for Mistrial re juror misconduct. If the court approves the motion, it would prompt a new trial on the same charges with a new jury. Sentencing hearing (10/1) cancelled. Motions hearing to set aside/vacate judgment on 10/26.
10/26/18 Update: The juror in question will give testimony at a private deposition November 29. Lawyers will submit written arguments to the judge by December 21. Loehrlein is scheduled to be back in court January 10. Loehrlein pushed an insanity defense during trial. If the judge throws out his verdict, he could go back on trial.
1/10/19 Update: Judge to rule on motion to set aside/vacate judgment on 1/24. 1/24/19: Judge denies motion for mistrial. Sentencing scheduled for 2/13.
2/13/19 Update: Sentencing rescheduled for 2/20.

Loehrlein sentenced for killing wife, trying to kill daughters


EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - A Vanderburgh County man, who killed his wife and tried to kill his two daughters, has been sentenced.

Clint Loehrlein was sentenced to a total of 150 years Monday morning on several counts including murder and attempted murder.

He was sentenced 70 years for Sherry’s murder, 65 years for the two attempted murders counts of his daughters, and the rest for additional counts including aggravated battery and resisting law enforcement.
