Here's a letter from Irina's father. Translated in Google, with a bit of cleanup by me:

Twins grandfather's letter to the prosecutor of the canton

FRANCESCO LUCIDI: "TO OBTAIN THE MONEY MATTERS MORE THAN TRUTH"

"Mr. Prosecutor, I must confess to being surprised if not shocked, by your statement to the press about the disappearance of the twins Alessia and Livia." Speaking out - for the first time - the grandfather of the missing Swiss twins. In an open letter published in full on site "Tgcom.it, Francesco Lucidi - Irina's father - is addressed to the Prosecutor of the Canton of Vaud and refers to "your statements on the costs of the investigation". Statements - in the words of the grandfather of the girls - "that you think more about money to research their disappearance than of their recovery."

In statements, in fact, Canton Vaud, lamented the "high cost of the investigation." Sitting before them, Francesco Lucidi said that if necessary measures were taken immediately, it could have been "a significant cost savings."The grandfather of the twins, missing for months, ended his outburst with a bitter and ironic question, directed to the prosecutor: "Allow me now to ask you a question: Would you wish the same to be done if it were your children?"

New details that have emerged, or been confirmed:

  • A key one that there is no forensic evidence of the presence of the girls on the ferryboat heading for Corsica, although there is a credible witness.

  • The presence of the girls in three Swiss towns and on the ferry has been confirmed only by witnesses, in contrast to the presence of the father in several locations, confirmed by video surveillance cameras.

  • French police have checked with every autoroute service station and hotels in the region around Montelimar, where he left the autoroute for the night, but have turned up no evidence of the girls’ presence or other useful details.

  • The GPS chip from the father’s car has to date provided no useful data, although Italian police are still waiting for a final report from the Korean supplier.

  • Thorough research into the father’s Internet contacts and telephone calls has provided no useful information.

Police say the investigation will continue, concentrating on France, in the Montelimar region and in Corsica, in particular trying to determine precisely the movements of the father, Matthias Schepp.

The three-country investigations up to now have confirmed the following path, and police say they hope the detailed route will help bring forward new witnesses. The joint statement issued by police notes the following:
The Swiss leg of the journey

The route taken by the father of the twins has now been largely worked out thanks to details provided by witnesses and technical details uncovered by investigators.

-- His presence in St Sulpice 30 January around 13:00 (1:00 pm) has been confirmed, then in

-- Préverenges (14:30 / 2:30 pm)

-- Morges (15:51 / 3:51 pm), then

-- Geneva (16:15-18:00 /4:15 pm to 6:00 pm).

-- He was then in the Croix de Rozon region in France (18:04 / 6:04 pm) and

-- Lyons (19:38 / 6:38 pm).

The Italians are reporting that someone in the Abruzzo region of Italy saw twins walking and seemed to believe it was our missing twins, Alessia and Livia Schepp. I pray this is true, but there is no way to know for sure and the police seem quite positive the girls did not enter Italy.

That being said, a man indicated he saw the two girls walking and called to them asking if they needed help. But they ran away from him implying they were alone. He said he did not pursue them because he did not want to be taken for some kind of deviant. Another worker is also claiming he saw two girls similar to the twins.

Abruzzo is east of Rome. It would be wonderful to find these babies and get them home to their mom. What an ordeal they have been through.

I'm continuing with my prayers and wishing for resolution. I cannot imagine how the family must be feeling.

I know how I'm feeling.... :banghead:

Geneva, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) - Vaud Police and SwissMissing pooled their resources to conduct an 8km2 search in the Geneva countryside Saturday 9 April to Monday morning, looking for the bodies of the two missing six-year-olds, Alessia and Livia Schepp. The search, with 12 people including a police officer and sniffer dog teams, turned up no results.

The search was undertaken after a sniffer dog confirmed the presence of the father, Matthias Schepp, in the area: a Geneva woman earlier reported that he had been seen with his daughters in the area Sunday 30 March.

SwissMissing has published a short report, in English, on the search, to thank donors who covered the CHF34,000 cost of the weekend search. The organization has also posted a YouTube video showing the search (in Italian).

The family was not directly involved in the search.

Following the information given by a Genevan lady, who, about a month ago, reported having seen the little girls with Matthias Schepp, as well as his car, at a park close to the motorway in the city outskirts at around 4.30 pm on Jaunary 30, Swissmissing, in cooperation with Canton Vaud police – searched the designated area in the past days. The lady’s sighting, already considered credible by the police at the time it was first reported, had been further confirmed about three weeks ago by the smell trail followed by Swissmissing’s Mantrailing dog, who identified traces of Matthias Schepp.

The search operations, which spanned over a ca. 8 km square area and produced no results, began Saturday morning and were completed this morning (Monday). They employed around 12 people, including a representative of the Vaud police, members of Swissmissing and three dogs specialised in dead body searches from the dog squad cooperating with Swissmissing. This 3-day operation, the aerial recognition and dog squad deployment in the designated area, costing 34000 CHF (26000 euros), have been possible thanks to the generosity of all those who contributed to the Alessia & Livia fund, who we want to thank once again.

GENEVA — Swiss police on Thursday announced a major search involving sniffer dogs for the bodies of missing twin girls who were kidnapped by their Canadian-born father in January, after a new witness came forward.

"We have begun a large-scale search between Morges and St Prex," close to the western city of Lausanne, local police spokesman Jean-Christophe Sauterel told AFP. More than 140 police were taking part in the search, he added.

No trace has so far been found of six-year-old Livia and Alessia Schepp since they disappeared at the end of January along with their father Matthias.

New search for missing Swiss twin girls

April 14, 2011 - 7:44PM

AFPSwiss police announced a major search for the bodies of missing twin girls who were kidnapped by their father in January, after a new witness came forward.

"We have begun a large-scale search between Morges and St Prex", close to the western city of Lausanne, local police spokesman Jean-Christophe Sauterel said on Thursday. More than 140 police were taking part in the search, he added. Sauterel said the new search was triggered by new eyewitness testimony that emerged last week.

"We have a statement from someone who came to the local police headquarters on April 6 and who told us about a man who was seen carrying a suitcase in the Boiron region (near Morges) on Sunday, January 30, around 4pm," said Sauterel. "That is all we have from this witness, but by linking the new information to other elements of the investigation, we have deemed it relevant and decided to conduct this search with dogs who are trained to find bodies," he added. Eleven sniffer dogs are taking part in the search.

I don't know whether to pray that they find the bodies of these beautiful baby girls or pray that they don't find them to keep hope that they could still be alive.

Geneva / Lausanne, Switzerland (GenevaLunch) – Police in canton Vaud say a large-scale two-day search for missing twins Alessia and Livia is over, with nothing found. The search, using 11 dogs from three countries, specially trained to search for dead bodies, turned up no trace of the girls or their father. “The search did not provide any new material for the investigation,” noted police spokesperson Jean-Christophe Sauterel in a statement issued late Friday.

Irina Lucidi, the mother of missing six-year-old twins Alessia and Livia Schepp, called a press conference Friday afternoon 15 April in Morges to thank police for undertaking a large-scale hunt for her daughters, who disappeared with their father from St Sulpice 30 January.

Irina Lucidi had told him [MSchepp] a few days before he left with the children, that their marriage was over and she wanted a divorce.

Irina Lucidi told reporters Friday afternoon that she and her husband and the girls often walked in that area, just to the east of St Prex, near the lake road at Tolochenaz. The lakefront is not open to the public between St Prex and the beach, but from the beach it is possible to walk to Morges, about 3 kms.

Her press conference was held at the tennis club on the west side of Morges, not far from the area where police have been carrying out an intensive dog-tracking search for the past two days, based on new information provided 6 April by a witness. Police searched the Boiron river mouth and beach area, where the witness says he saw a man dragging a suitcase Sunday 30 January, about 16:00.

My heart continues to break for these beautiful little girls and their mother. We need some good news here!

I just cannot bear that these two little girls have not been located! I so wanted them to be found alive, but if not, I still want them to be found.

And yes, there does need to be a miracle!
