As Isaac neared shore power outages began to mount. Shortly before 2 p.m. an Entergy Corp. tracking site reported 3,500 customers without power in lower Plaquemines Parish, with another 700 or so without electricity in eastern New Orleans.

That's doesn't sound good about what's coming

Please stay safe everyone and please check in as soon as you can. I will be worried about you all.

They've got a lot of experience and knowledge. Hubby and I will chase storms but not hurricanes. Crossing a road with water breaking waves over it is not for me!

I too like the link LeiLei...I can be a hurricanes chaser sitting in my comfy chair far from danger.

Comfy chair for the win! I freak out when we get severe thunderstorm warnings here in NW Georgia lol. Storm chasing sounds amazing, but I would need a ton of xanax to get through one storm!

And I'm still watching this link... casino flooded out?

Lera, this link is awesome!

I have been watching all day... Very cool!
I have also been watching the storm surge come in
at Gulf Port, Bay St Louis and surrounding areas.
I (think?) this is a direct link, to the storm chasers.

The map shows where they are.

Prayers to all my Louisiana sleuthers who may be effected by Issac....Missip too. Stay safe my friends.

evening all, good luck to all of you in the path of Isaac.
My son lives on St. Charles in the river bend area across the street from Vincent's Italian Restaurant. I know he is without power, so he has asked me not to call him to save his phone battery, but does anyone know this area? I am thinking it is ok, but I worry, as a Mom.

Stay safe everyone..The weather has started to go downhill fast.

Please stay safe everyone! You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Also, check in with when you get the chance. (We worry!) :praying:

I love Vincent's! It's a nice area....can you text him?

I'm not too far from there, Ohiogirl. The winds are strong, and there are reports of downed trees, but otherwise, so far so good. Not a lot of rain on this side of town yet. I'm sure he's fine.

I don't blame you for being worried. My son is with us, but if he weren't I'd be frantic.

A little ot...but can you imagine living back in the day before you could see or know when it was coming? One day it's nice outside, then all of a sudden it turns bad.

That picture looks like a beast.

Actually I can, I was in Cancun Mexico, and had a condo on the beach. There were only three channels on the t.v all in Spanish and I didn't speak Spanish and no one told me a hurricane was coming. I was wondering where everyone went. Next thing I knew that night the winds were picking up and the ocean came up to the underground parking. The building was shaking, I was by myself and scared to death, the only thing I could think to do was drink. I would say it was about a cat 2 or 3. The next morning I went down stairs and entire lobby was filled with sand. The beach was full of tress, wood , and garbage. This was all the way back in the 80's.

Hurrican Isaac rips the roof off of Plaquemine Parish president Billy Nungesser's house

Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser, scrambling to secure low-lying areas from Hurricane Isaac 's storm surge and spirit stranded residents to shelter, has found the storm striking back in his own backyard. Nungesser said Tuesday evening that portions of the roof on his Pointe Celeste home lay scattered on the lawn and water has begun poring inside.

Oh no he is such a nice man. He has worked so hard trying to keep the people of New Orleans safe. I remember him working so hard during the oil crises to get justice. I am hoping that the people will come to his aid.
